Abstract

Objective: This study aims to investigate the effect of the Character-Oriented Rambu Solo’ Ceremony-Based Learning Model (PURSO) on students’ learning outcomes in Civics Education. The integration of local cultural values into character education is considered essential to fostering moral, social, and cognitive development among elementary school students. Method:This study adopts a quasi-experimental design using a "true experimental design" with a post-test-only control group. The population consisted of 28 students at an elementary school in Toraja Regency during the 2024/2025 academic year. Using simple random sampling, two groups were selected: an experimental group taught using the PURSO model and a control group taught through conventional methods. Data collection was conducted using post-tests and questionnaires. Statistical analysis included normality and homogeneity tests, independent sample t-tests, and mastery learning tests. Results: The findings of this study revealed a significant difference in learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups. Students who received instruction through the PURSO character-oriented learning model achieved higher post-test scores. In the experimental group, 25 out of 28 students (89.29%) met the Minimum Completeness Criteria (MCC), whereas only 18 out of 28 students (64.29%) in the control group achieved the same standard. The independent samples t-test yielded a t-value of 4.32 with a significance level of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). These results indicate that the implementation of the PURSO learning model has a significant and positive impact on improving students' learning outcomes in Civics Education. Novelty: This research introduces a novel learning model by incorporating the cultural values of the Rambu Solo’ funeral ceremony into formal Civics Education. Unlike conventional models, PURSO enhances not only academic achievement but also character formation, making learning more contextual and culturally responsive

Abstract

The objective of this study is to design and develop learning media in the form of a game board inspired by the traditional egrang batok game. The utilization of Egrang Batok media has been the subject of prior research; however, no studies have been conducted on Sundanese language content. The objective of this media is to facilitate the acquisition of Sundanese script by PGSD students. Following the observation that students encountered difficulties in comprehending and acquiring proficiency in Sundanese script through the utilization of visual media exclusively, the author endeavored to conceptualize a board game employing the principles of batok egrang as a medium for Sundanese script instruction. The present study employed the ADDIE development model, which comprises five stages: The following sequence of steps is imperative: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The findings of the research suggest that: The batok engrang board game medium has been determined to have a high level of validity, with an average score of 0.90 for content, 0.80 for media, and 0.8 for language, classified as sufficiently high. In terms of practicality, questionnaire results from teachers and students indicate that this medium is highly practical to use, with an average score of 95%. On the whole, the Egrang Batok-based board game is regarded as suitable and effective for use in learning activities at PGSD.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop a learning model based on local wisdom to enhance cultural literacy among elementary school students. This study employs a Research and Development (R&D) method, adapted from Borg & Gall into five stages, namely: (1) initial information gathering (literature review and field needs analysis); (2) planning (drafting the model); (3) initial product validation (expert validation); (4) preliminary testing (small group); and (5) field testing (large group). The research subjects consisted of 6 experts and practitioners for validation, 13 teachers, and fifth-grade students comprising 90 for the instrument trial and 125 students for the limited and broader tests to assess the effectiveness of the developed learning model. Data were collected through validation sheets, interview guidelines, and student assessment sheets. The model’s validity was analyzed qualitatively, while its effectiveness was analyzed quantitatively using a paired sample t-test and N-Gain. The results showed that the social studies learning model based on local wisdom, rooted in the maataa tradition, was deemed feasible for use, with an average validator score of 3,52, falling within the range of 3,2–4,0, categorized as highly feasible. The t-test result showed a significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0,05, indicating that the maataa tradition-based local wisdom model is effective in enhancing students’ cultural literacy skills. This is evidenced by a significant improvement in students’ cultural literacy, with an average pretest score of 73,44 rising to 94.5 in the posttest. The N-Gain calculation of 0,78 places this improvement in the "high" category, with learning effectiveness reaching 78%, meaning it is considered “effective.” In conclusion, the social studies learning model based on the maataa tradition of local wisdom is effective in improving students’ cultural literacy skills. This model provides a more contextual and meaningful learning experience while strengthening students’ connection to local cultural values.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the ability of students in the Primary School Teacher Education program to integrate Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) in developing mathematics questions based on Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) at the C6 level (creating). This competence is essential for preparing future teachers to design questions that foster creativity, problem-solving, and innovation among primary school students. Method: This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving final-semester students who had completed courses on instructional design and TPACK. Data were collected through documentation of C6-level HOTS question development assignments, semi-structured interviews, and classroom observations. Data were analyzed through data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Results: The findings indicate that most students demonstrated the ability to integrate TPACK components—content, pedagogy, and technology—in designing HOTS-based mathematics questions at the C6 level. While some questions reflected strong alignment with C6 indicators such as originality and contextual relevance, challenges remain in harmonizing all TPACK dimensions consistently. Variability in technological integration and depth of creativity was also observed. Novelty: This study offers insight into how TPACK competencies support the development of C6-level HOTS questions within primary mathematics education. It contributes to existing literature by linking TPACK directly with cognitive assessment design in teacher education and highlighting the preparedness of pre-service teachers to meet the demands of 21st-century learning.

Abstract

Objective: This research aimed to examine the strategic function of Islamic school principals in combating bullying through the promotion of fundamental values. Method: A sequential explanatory mixed-method was used to collect quantitative data from 192 junior high school students at SMP Islam Tahfidzul Quran Sunan Gunung Jati to evaluate knowledge and conduct about bullying. The next step included qualitative interviews with school principal to investigate value-based solutions. Results: The results showed that students had a profound conceptual knowledge of the detrimental nature and manifestations of bullying, specifically in the physical and verbal forms. Behavioral data reported a continued prevalence of verbal and relational bullying, including name-calling and social exclusion, despite students' recognition of the detrimental effects. Qualitative results suggested that school principal actively incorporated Islamic teachings, such as adab (etiquette), ukhuwah islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood), and amar ma’ruf nahi munkar (enjoining good and prohibiting wrong) into school activities to cultivate ethical behavior among pupils. Novelty: This comprised religious instruction, counseling, character development activities, and peer ambassador initiatives. The research showed that successful anti-bullying initiatives must be extended beyond awareness by improving moral consciousness through values-based leadership. Despite being confined to a single Islamic educational context, the results presented a reproducible framework for institutions. Future research should include various educational institutions and evaluate the enduring effects of values-based treatments. The incorporation of Islamic ideals into educational culture was essential for cultivating respectful, nonviolent learning environments.
