Abstract

This community engagement program aimed to enhance teachers’ capacity in disaster mitigation and to develop a disaster curriculum based on local social-community wisdom at SMAN 1 Rikit Gaib, Gayo Lues Regency, an area prone to landslides and flash floods. The methods used included public education, training, technology transfer, and advocacy, employing a participatory approach. The results showed a significant improvement in teachers’ understanding, with an average post-test score increase of 73.9%. Teachers also successfully developed a thematic curriculum that integrates local wisdom into classroom learning. Additional outputs included evacuation route maps, teaching modules, and a School Emergency Response Plan (RTDS). Abstract

The production of palm sugar (gula semut aren) in Way Kalam Village is still carried out using traditional methods, characterized by limited technology, lack of quality standards, and weak institutional coordination. This study aims to analyze the governance of palm sugar production based on community empowerment through an interdisciplinary approach. The research employs a qualitative case study method, with data collected through field observations, semi-structured interviews with sugar producers, farmer groups, village officials, and the agricultural office, as well as analysis of supporting documents. The results reveal various inefficiencies in the production process, including bottlenecks during the drying phase, inconsistent product quality, and minimal adoption of appropriate technology. Using the Lean Production approach, wastes such as waiting time and overprocessing can be reduced by reorganizing workflow and optimizing equipment capacity. On the institutional side, strengthening farmer groups, enhancing inter-institutional coordination, and ensuring continuous mentoring are proven to be key factors in creating a more adaptive production ecosystem. This study recommends integrating technical and institutional strategies to sustainably empower palm sugar farmers. The proposed governance model can serve as a reference for developing a more efficient, competitive, and self-reliant village-based palm sugar industry.

Abstract

Discovery and treatment of preeclampsia too late can be a life-threatening condition for both the mother and the child over the course of the pregnancy. Moreover, pregnancy-related anxiety might worsen the health of the mother and influence the baby's development. For this reason, it is imperative that expectant mothers be more ready to deal with these two problems by having the appropriate knowledge. By increasing awareness and encouraging prevention, this community service event was intended to inform expectant mothers about health concerns and help them to make more informed choices on how to control the risks of preeclampsia and anxiety. The event's informative lectures at the Village Hall were followed by casual conversations and a quiz based on the training material, which was utilized to hand out useful door prizes. The Sukasari Village Hall in Mandirancan, Kuningan District, provided the venue for all events. Participants had become more familiar about the signs of preeclampsia, how to regulate blood pressure, and basic relaxation techniques to lower anxiety following the assessment. Furthermore emphasized at the event was the essential part family support has in helping expected moms maintain their mental and physical health. Continuous instruction and an inclusive approach including all stakeholders should help to create a shared awareness of the need to recognize preeclampsia early and control stress throughout pregnancy. Abstract

Mental health in school-aged children is a crucial aspect that influences their academic, social, and emotional development. Unfortunately, early detection of emotional and mental disorders in children remains limited, especially in elementary school settings. This community service program aimed to raise awareness and enhance the capacity of teachers and parents in early detection of children’s mental health issues using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). The activity was conducted at SD Negeri Margahayu 2 in August 2024, involving 248 respondents. The results showed that 18.95% of children were in the normal category, 61.29% in the borderline category, and 19.76% in the abnormal category. These findings indicate that a majority of children are at an early stage of emotional and mental health risk and require further monitoring and intervention. Therefore, strong collaboration between schools and families is essential to create a supportive environment for children’s mental well-being and to prevent more severe issues.

Abstract

Dental and oral diseases, especially caries and periodontal disease, are still widely suffered, both by children and adults. Prevention (preventive) can be defined as preventing the onset or development of a disease or restoring bodily functions that have been lost. This activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of brushing teeth properly and correctly in students as well as checking dental and oral hygiene and doing mass brushing. After the dental examination, they were motivated to perform fillings on teeth that had caries and carry out dental health education activities. The trick is to do a demonstration of brushing your teeth and continue with the practice of brushing your teeth together using a toothbrush and toothpaste.  The conclusion of this service activity is that there is an increase in knowledge and behavior of maintaining dental and oral health after being given dental health education. Health promotion activities and demonstrations on how to brush their teeth properly and correctly can increase students' knowledge and awareness in maintaining healthy teeth and mouth.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly impacted the education sector, highlighting the urgent need to equip high school students with relevant digital literacy skills. However, many students still lack fundamental understanding of AI technologies. This community service initiative aimed to introduce AI concepts and applications through an interactive experiential learning approach. The training was held across three cities—Mojokerto, Sidoarjo, and Surabaya—reaching 546 students and 25 teachers. Participants were introduced to popular AI tools such as ChatGPT, Ideogram.ai, Pixverse, Remaker.ai, Kling.ai, and Suno.com, and were tasked to produce 60-second creative content using those tools. Evaluation results showed improved understanding and high enthusiasm, with average satisfaction scores above 4.38 on a 5-point scale. Furthermore, many students expressed interest in developing their own AI-based projects after the session. In conclusion, this training effectively addressed the AI literacy gap among high school students and fostered critical and creative thinking skills essential for thriving in the digital era
