Abstract

 In the video "Language Barriers, Culture Shock &; TCK Identity Crisis ft. Mella Carli" on the YouTube channel "The Indah G Show," the use of the Jaksel (South Jakarta) language in sociolinguistic contexts is examined in this article. In order to comprehend how the host, Indah G, and her invited guest, Mella Carli, utilize Jaksel language in their interactions, this study employs a code-mixed sociolinguistic study approach. Analysis of the video's conversational content and transcription are part of the research methodology. The examination's findings demonstrated that Jaksel frequently utilized his language in casual talks, jokes, and professions of respect. In other cases where formality or clarity are required, mixed code using standard Indonesian is used. Identifying the social and cultural elements that support the usage of Jaksel language in this setting is another goal of this study.

Abstract

This research employs a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach to explain how the main character in the short story demonstrates social piety through their attitudes, actions, and interactions with other characters in the narrative. Social piety is a manifestation of religious teachings in social life, encompassing honesty, justice, and concern for others. This study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the relationship between the main character's social piety and the overall theme of the story, as well as the values the author wishes to convey. This analysis offers greater insights into the moral messages or values the author seeks to communicate through their work.

Abstract

Literacy is an individual's ability to read, write, speak, count, and solve problems at the level of skill required in everyday life. Literacy is not only limited to reading and writing skills but also includes digital, information, and media literacy. This study aims to measure the influence of morning literacy culture on the increase in students' interest in reading at SMP Negeri 26 Malang. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach using questionnaires as a data collection tool. The study results showed a positive influence between the morning literacy culture program at school and the increase in students' interest in reading. A structured and sustainable morning literacy cultural program can increase students' interest in reading. Keywords: interests, reading, habituation, books, programs   ABSTRAK Literasi adalah kemampuan individu untuk membaca, menulis, berbicara, menghitung, dan memecahkan masalah pada tingkat keahlian yang diperlukan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Literasi tidak hanya terbatas pada kemampuan membaca dan menulis saja, tetapi juga mencakup literasi digital, literasi informasi, dan literasi media. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur pengaruh budaya literasi pagi terhadap peningkatan minat membaca siswa di SMP Negeri 26 Malang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan kuesioner sebagai alat  pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh positif antara program budaya literasi pagi di sekolah dengan peningkatan minat membaca siswa. Program budaya literasi pagi yang terstruktur dan berkelanjutan dapat meningkatkan minat baca siswa. Kata Kunci: minat, membaca, pembiasaan, buku, program

Abstract

Abstrak: Culinary is something that cannot be separated from human life. Likewise, literary works play an important role in human life. Literary gastronomy, also known as gastro criticism, is a combination of gastronomy and literary criticism. Gastronomy focuses on food and gourmet aspects, while literary criticism deals with the critical understanding of a literary work. The combination of the two creates a field of study or literary criticism that focuses on works that are rich in imagination in the context of culinary culture. This research method is descriptive qualitative with a gastro critical approach that aims to describe literary gastronomy in one of Indonesia's culinary specialties, namely fried rice. The research data consists of sentences and discourses from literary works as well as writings related to literary gastronomy, which are used as references in the analysis. Data collection techniques were conducted through close reading, while analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that the culinary aspects presented by the author include the origins, variants, processing materials, ways of serving and flavors of fried rice.

Abstract

This study examines how student learning discipline and teacher-student interactions affect Arabic language learning results at SMP Queen Ibnu Sina Genteng in the 2023–2024 academic year. The study uses a pretest-posttest control group and a quasi-experimental approach. Purposive sampling strategies were used to choose 30 students for the experimental group and another 30 students for the control group. The Arabic language learning outcome is the dependent variable, whereas educational interaction and student learning discipline are the independent variables. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann-Whitney U Test (significance level of 0.05) are used to analyze the data from the interaction and learning discipline assessments that are part of the study instruments. The findings show that learning discipline and educational engagement have a major impact on Arabic language learning outcomes. The two variables have a positive association, as indicated by the Paired Sample T-Test's significant value of 0.000 (<0.05). The students performed well, as evidenced by their average Arabic language acquisition outcome of 96.33. To sum up, learning discipline and teacher-student interaction are essential to improving Arabic language learning results at SMP Queen Ibnu Sina Genteng. signifikan interaksi edukatif serta disiplin belajar terhadap hasil belajar bahasa Arab . Uji Paired Sample T - Test menampilkan nilai signifikan 0 , 000 ( <0 , 05 ) , sehingga ada ikatan positif antara kedua variabel tersebut . Hasil belajar bahasa Arab rata - rata siswa menggapai 96 , 33 , menampilkan hasil yang baik . Akhirnya , interaksi edukatif guru serta disiplin belajar berfungsi berarti dalam tingkatkan hasil belajar bahasa Arab di SMP Queen Ibnu Sina Genteng

Abstract

This research examines enactive English language acquisition using a hobby-based method, exhibited by the "Tarkam Londo" YouTube video production. Employing enactive learning derived from social cognitive theory, it seeks to provide an innovative viewpoint on English language acquisition. This research employs a qualitative document study methodology to investigate the English learning process by creating and disseminating audiovisual content related to football on a YouTube channel. The data-gathering process involved the examination of informal researcher diaries, football videos, and manually revised English transcripts of selected occurrences. Descriptive and interpretative analyses looked at how the quality of commentator language changed over time and combined documentary information with related research to understand how active learning and hobbies affect English skill development. Data verification employed source triangulation and comprehensive content evolution analysis. Research shows that hobby-orientated enactive learning significantly improves English language acquisition. "Tarkam Londo" serves as an interactive learning approach, resulting in greater English proficiency, increased self-efficacy, improved everyday living, prospective job progression, and mastery of enactive abilities. The provision of consistent football commentary evidence enables continuous language practice. Enactive learning via independent experimentation and reflection on failures is essential for identifying effective techniques, supplemented by vicarious learning. This learning method is also relevant in relation to the concept of technopolitics, namely the use of technology for certain purposes, even though it is not explicitly political. The study finds that combining hobbies with enactive learning in making videos is a good and lasting way to learn English, suggesting similar approaches for other hobbies and calling for more research to test how well it works for students learning English and other languages.

Abstract

This research analyses the difference between poetry and quotes through a literary structuralism approach. In the digital era, many social media accounts publish quotes that claim to be poetry, even though they do not fulfil the structural criteria of poetry. This research aims to identify the public's misunderstanding of the difference and its impact on the appreciation of literature, especially poetry. Using a qualitative method, this study analyses content from the Instagram accounts @awanteduh, @puisilangit, and @catatanmasfarrez. Data collection techniques involved inventorying, analysing, and comparing quotes and poems according to literary theory. The results showed that the quotes from the three accounts did not fulfil the elements of poetry structure, such as diction, imagery, figurative language, typography, and versification. This inaccuracy can potentially reduce public interest in literature, especially poetry, due to a lack of literacy and interest in reading. This study concludes that educating and improving literary literacy is important to distinguish authentic literary works from simplistic and superficial digital content.

Abstract

This study examines language variation in rental transactions between tourists and boat lessors at Pelabuhan Ratu Beach and explores the maintenance of local languages. Using a qualitative approach with documentation and interview methods, the study found that: (1) lessors adjust their language use according to the tourists' backgrounds, (2) there are differences in language use when interacting with local versus international tourists, and (3) the maintenance of local languages remains strong in daily activities, although it is less dominant in transactional contexts. These findings highlight the importance of linguistic adaptability in tourism services while emphasizing efforts to preserve local languages.

Abstract

This study explores the challenges faced by Indonesian language teachers in vocational schools (SMK) in implementing the Emancipated Learning Curriculum, focusing on three key areas: curriculum understanding, material management, and assessment practices. The curriculum emphasizes student-centered, contextual learning, yet its implementation presents obstacles for teachers. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving a survey of 40 teachers from East Java. The findings reveal that more than half of teachers have only a partial understanding of the curriculum, with experienced teachers struggling the most to transition from traditional methods. In material management, 70% of respondents reported inadequate or partially adequate resources, with rural teachers facing severe shortages. Assessment practices were dominated by traditional tests, while project-based and performance-based assessments were rarely used due to lack of training, logistical challenges, and systemic emphasis on standardized evaluations. These challenges highlight the need for targeted interventions, including practical training on curriculum application, development and equitable distribution of curriculum-aligned resources, and supportive policies for flexible assessments. Addressing these issues is critical for achieving the curriculum’s goals of fostering critical thinking, creativity, and contextual learning. Future research should investigate long-term impacts and scalable solutions for effective curriculum implementation in diverse settings.

Abstract

This study describes implementation the Arabic Collaboration program at Ma'had Tahfidz Teh Samat, Malaysia, is in improving students' proficiency. Training in Arabic communication, public speaking, and da'wah are part of the program. Students who participated in the Field Experience Practice (PPL) acted as program initiators and teachers in this qualitative research that used observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The program is conducted through intensive teaching, culminating in a demonstration of the students' skills in front of the ustadz, ustadzah, and santri guardians. The results showed a significant increase in santri proficiency in all three programs. While the public speaking training gave the santri greater confidence when speaking in front of an audience, the Arabic communication training helped them learn terminology in a real-world setting. The santri who received the da'wah training gained excellent rhetorical skills to communicate religious ideas. The communication skills and confidence of the students were enhanced by this cooperative and engaging method, which worked well in the pesantren environment. The study concludes that other institutions can use the Arabic Collaboration program model, which can help develop practical communication skills and prepare them to become young da'i and communicators.
