Abstract

The implementation of guidance and counseling services is relevant to the Islamic world, leading to the development of Islamic guidance and counseling services that emphasize religious and spiritual aspects. Characters formed through Islamic guidance and counseling exhibit traits such as self-reflection, patience, sincerity, and earnest effort. This study aims to analyze global trends in Islamic guidance and counseling research. This study uses a systematic literature review (SLR) following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) method, with the keyword 'Islamic Guidance and Counseling' from 2016 to 2025, using the Dimension AI database for its broad coverage, and visualizations from the VOSviewer application for material enrichment. The results show a fluctuating trend in the publication of scientific articles, with 3 publications in 2016, 482 in 2021, and 341 in 2025. Reflections from the VOS Viewer include network visualization, overlay visualization, density visualization, co-occurrence, and co-authorship network visualization. There are 15 clusters with a minimum of 3 mentions in the VOS Viewer application, totaling 532 items, such as character traits, counseling, inclusive education, Islamic counseling, and school counseling. Meirinawati Meirinawati from the State University of Surabaya, Indonesia, with 41 publications, is an active author in related articles, while the active journal in related publications is Jurnal Publika with 283 publications. The results of this study provide insight into the global research trend in 'Islamic Guidance and Counseling,' enriching the information and data available to experts in counseling and encouraging further research on the virtues of Islamic guidance and counseling.

Abstract

Creativity among prospective Physics teachers is very important. Still, the results of the final project are often not optimal due to the alleged high cognitive load, which limits working memory capacity. This study aims to analyse the effect of the scaffolding-based Project-based Learning (PjBL) model on Final Project Creativity, and to examine its role in moderating Cognitive Load and Working Memory. The study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design (pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design). The sample consisted of 34 students, divided into an experimental group (n=17) that implemented scaffolding-based PjBL and a control group (n=17) that implemented PjBL without scaffolding. Data analysis used MANCOVA. The MANCOVA results showed that scaffolding-based PjBL had a very significant effect on the combination of dependent variables (Wilks' Lambda, Sig.=0.000). Specifically, the experimental group showed lower Cognitive Load (Average=56.88) than the control group (Average=71.65). In addition, there was a significant increase in Creativity (Average 91.18 vs. 69.82) and Working Memory (Average 86.35 vs. 64.65). This finding was further validated by the Complex Span Task, which showed a 58% increase in working memory capacity in the experimental group. Scaffolding interventions have been proven effective in optimising cognitive processes by reducing extraneous cognitive load, thereby freeing up Working Memory capacity to facilitate deeper creative thinking processes. This study demonstrates the importance of structured support in managing cognitive load to enhance creativity.

Abstract

Student political participation is an important indicator of the success of civics learning in higher education, as it reflects students’ ability to understand and respond to public issues. However, increasingly complex political dynamics and the intensity of exposure to digital information in the learning process contribute to the emergence of political anxiety among students. In Indonesia, studies on student political participation have predominantly emphasized cognitive aspects, such as political literacy and political efficacy, while the role of emotional experiences in civics learning remains underexplored. Yet, political emotions have the potential to shape how students interpret political issues and determine the forms of their involvement. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design. The participants were 230 undergraduate students aged 18–25 in Surabaya, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected online using instruments measuring political anxiety and political participation. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression to examine the effect of political anxiety on student political participation. The results indicate that political anxiety has a positive and significant effect on student political participation. Political anxiety explains part of the variation in students’ political participation, while other factors related to educational experiences also play a role. These findings suggest that political anxiety is not always a barrier but can function as a catalyst for student political participation. In the context of higher education, political anxiety constitutes an integral component of the civic learning experience, encouraging information-seeking behavior, academic discussion, and critical reflection on public issues. Higher education institutions therefore play a strategic role in managing students’ emotional experiences to ensure that political participation develops in a reflective and responsible manner.

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Islamic education institutions reflects a shift from basic digital adoption toward more advanced technological applications. This study examines the development of research on technology and AI in Islamic education using data from the Scopus database. Bibliographic records published between 2019 and 2025 were collected using a set of predefined keywords and refined through several filtering limitations, resulting in a dataset of 222 documents. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer, focusing on publication trends, country contributions, and keyword co-occurrence through network, overlay, and density visualizations. The results indicate a moderate growth in publications during 2019–2021, followed by a marked increase from 2022 to 2025. Indonesia and Malaysia emerge as the most prolific contributors, reflecting the prominence of this topic within regional institutional contexts. The analysis also identifies a thematic shift from the use of basic digital learning tools during the pandemic period to discussions on AI integration, institutional management in Pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), and ethical considerations in more recent literature. While studies on general e-learning effectiveness appear to be saturated, limited attention has been given to the ethical alignment of AI with Islamic values. Therefore, future research should place greater emphasis on the development of ethical frameworks that integrate AI with Islamic educational principles.

Abstract

Academic stress is a common problem experienced by junior high school (SMP) students due to the increasing demands of learning and the dynamics of early adolescent development. If not managed adaptively, academic stress can reduce students' learning motivation and psychological well-being. This study aims to test the effectiveness of mindfulness-based group counseling, delivered through a mindfulness group counseling guidebook, in reducing academic stress among junior high school students. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental intact-group comparison design. The study subjects were 12 eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 24 Banjarmasin who were in the high academic stress category and were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The research instrument was an academic stress questionnaire that had undergone validity and reliability testing, with a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.889. The intervention was delivered through four group counseling sessions using breathing-in and breathing-out techniques, the 'know your emotion' exercise, body-scan meditation, and 'thank you'. Data analysis used an independent samples t-test. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05), with the experimental group showing a greater reduction in academic stress. These findings indicate that mindfulness-based group counseling is effective in reducing academic stress in junior high school students and has the potential to be developed as a preventive and responsive intervention in guidance and counseling services in schools.

Abstract

Students at the secondary education level, especially in vocational high schools, face various academic demands that require cognitive and emotional readiness. The development of digital technology has made gadgets an inseparable part of students' lives, both for academic and non-academic purposes. However, uncontrolled gadget use has the potential to lead to gadget addiction, which can disrupt learning concentration, reduce effective learning time, and increase academic stress. This condition can trigger academic anxiety in students. Therefore, it is important to examine the effect of gadget addiction on students' academic anxiety. This study aims to analyze the effect of gadget addiction on the academic anxiety of students majoring in Computer Network and Telecommunication Engineering (TJKT) at SMK Negeri 2 Banjarmasin. This study uses a quantitative approach with an influence research type. The research sample consisted of 89 students, selected through a cluster sampling technique. Data were collected using a gadget addiction scale and an academic anxiety scale, and analyzed using simple linear regression. The results of the analysis show that gadget addiction has a positive and significant effect on students' academic anxiety, as evidenced by a regression significance value of <0.05 and a coefficient of determination of 0.244. Thus, it can be concluded that gadget addiction is one of the factors contributing to increased academic anxiety in students.

Abstract

Formative assessment is used to monitor students’ learning progress on an ongoing basis and to provide constructive feedback for both teachers and students. In language learning, formative assessment functions as a means of evaluating the gradual process of language competence acquisition rather than merely the final learning outcomes. Therefore, item analysis is necessary to ensure the quality of the assessment instruments employed. This study aims to examine the quality of each test item in the formative assessment of the Balinese Language subject, particularly on the anggah-ungguhing basa Bali material. This research adopts a descriptive quantitative design, involving Grade X students from a senior high school in Denpasar City. The research subjects were selected using purposive sampling, consisting of 36 students from class X3. The research data were collected through documentation studies of the assessment instruments and students’ responses. The data were then analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, item difficulty indices, discrimination power indices, and distractor effectiveness analysis. The results indicate that 80% of the test items are valid, with a reliability coefficient of 0.632, which falls into the category of moderate reliability. Most items demonstrate a medium level of difficulty, accounting for 85% of the total items. Furthermore, 50% of the items exhibit optimal discrimination power, while the distractor effectiveness shows a performance rate of 72%. Overall, the formative assessment for the Balinese Language subject on the anggah-ungguhing basa Bali material meets the criteria of a high-quality assessment instrument. Nevertheless, several problematic items still require revision to enhance assessment accuracy in future implementations. This study offers a quantitative framework that can be utilized by other Balinese Language teachers as a reference for evaluating and improving test items, while also encouraging regular item analysis to enhance the effectiveness of assessment in Balinese language learning.

Abstract

Sociology learning plays a strategic role in equipping students to understand and analyze social phenomena critically. However, school learning practices are often dominated by conventional teacher-centered approaches, resulting in suboptimal student participation and learning outcomes. This study aims to describe improvements in sociology learning outcomes through the application of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model with Public Service Announcement (PSA) creation activities. The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) design model by Kemmis and McTaggart, which was implemented in two cycles: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 36 students from class XI IPS 3 SMAN 10 Jakarta, selected purposively because they had low average cognitive learning outcomes. Data collection techniques included observation of learning implementation, student attitude questionnaires, cognitive learning outcome tests, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted descriptively, qualitatively, and quantitatively. The results showed that applying PjBL through PSA creation improved the quality of the process and student learning outcomes. Learning implementation increased from an average of 73% in cycle I to 89% in cycle II. Student attitudes during learning also increased from 51% (less good) to 70% (good). In addition, cognitive learning outcomes increased from an average of 67 in the pre-cycle to 81 in cycle II, thus exceeding the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) of 75. These findings indicate that PjBL, through the creation of PSA, is an effective and contextually relevant learning strategy to improve sociology learning outcomes and encourage active student involvement in the learning process.

Abstract

Independence is a crucial developmental task for children aged 5–7 years and requires caregiver support. However, caregivers' limited understanding often hinders optimal support for child independence. Therefore, structured training is needed to improve caregivers' understanding of child independence support. This study used a one-group pretest–posttest design with 13 caregivers. The intervention, in the form of SADARI (Sadar Dukung Anak Mandiri) training, was conducted face-to-face in four sessions, covering the concept of child independence, the role of caregivers, and practical strategies through the BICARA approach. Caregivers' understanding was measured before and after the intervention using an adaptation of the Vineland Social Maturity Scale (Doll, 1965). Data were analyzed using paired samples t-tests and Wilcoxon Signed-Rank tests to determine differences in pre-test and post-test scores. There was a significant increase in caregiver understanding scores between post-test and post-test 1 (t(13) = ?4.59; p < .001; Wilcoxon p = .003), and between post-test and post-test 2 (t(13) = ?3.24; p = .006; Wilcoxon p = .008). Descriptively, the average understanding score increased from 105 in the post-test to 117 in post-test 1 and 121 in post-test 2. Although scores fluctuated for some individuals, observations and quiz evaluations showed that the majority of caregivers understood the concept of child independence, the BICARA strategy, and their role in daily caregiving practices. SADARI training was proven effective in improving caregivers' cognitive understanding of how to support the independence of children aged 5–7 years. However, this increase was still limited to understanding and was not fully reflected in caregiving practices, which were influenced by caregiving experience and required further guidance to encourage changes in caregiver behavior.

Abstract

Arabic language learning at the senior secondary level is still dominated by a theoretical linguistic approach that focuses on mastery of grammar, thus providing little space for the development of speaking skills (maharah kalam). This condition has implications for low active participation of students, increased language anxiety, and the formation of a static mindset that inhibits the courage to communicate verbally. This study aims to develop an Arabic language learning design based on the principles of Deep Learning to improve the speaking skills of class XII Religious students at MAS PERSIS 69 Jakarta. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The product developed is a comprehensive learning device that includes the Annual Program, Semester Program, and Lesson Implementation Plan (RPP), based on Project-Based Learning, and integrates the principles of Consciousness, Meaningfulness, and Joy. The validation results show that the device obtained very good scores from material experts (3.7) and Deep Learning experts (3.8). Implementation on 15 students showed significant improvement in speaking skills, marked by an increase in average scores from 77 in the pre-test to 86 in the post-test, as well as an increase in active participation from 13% to 53%. These findings indicate that the immersive learning design is not only effective in improving students' linguistic performance but also in reducing affective barriers and creating a safe, proactive, and meaningful learning environment. Therefore, the developed learning tool is deemed feasible and relevant for implementation in Arabic language learning at Madrasah Aliyah (Islamic Senior High School).
