Abstract

AbstractHepatitis B is an illness resulting from the hepatitis B virus, which can spread through both horizontal and vertical transmission. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019, approximately 296 million individuals across the globe were afflicted with hepatitis B, with an anticipated annual increase of 1.5 million cases. Various approaches and solutions have been implemented to prevent and address the impact of this disease, including hepatitis B immunization policies from birth. According to the Regulation of the Minister of Health No. 25 of 2015, other approaches are also being pursued through health promotion using various media. This study aims to determine the effectiveness and factors related to public knowledge about hepatitis B through interactive educational media for the community in Gondanglegi Village, Malang Regency. A total of 176 respondents completed the questionnaire, with 75% being female and 24% male. The majority of respondents fell within the age range of 51-60 years (34.7%). The Wilcoxon test results show a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p=0.000). The Spearman test, which relates age and the last level of education to pre-test and post-test scores, reveals a significant relationship between pre-test scores and age (p=0.000, r=-0.458) as well as the last level of education (p=0.000, r=0.472). The correlation analysis results indicate that older age is associated with lower pre-test scores, while higher levels of education are associated with higher pre-test scores. A similar pattern is observed in the correlation test between post-test scores and age (p=0.082, r=-0.204) and the last level of education (p=0.013, r=0.013). These results indicate that the community engagement program to increase awareness of hepatitis B has successfully improved participants' knowledge, as reflected in the difference between pre-test and post-test scores."

Abstract

AbstractReproductive health information for adolescent students is still considered taboo and has not yet been included in the school curriculum. A good understanding of adolescent reproductive health is crucial because adolescents are expected to have responsible attitudes and behaviors regarding the reproductive process. The high-risk sexual behaviors among adolescents are due to a lack of accurate knowledge about reproductive health and sexually transmitted diseases. This activity aims to enhance the knowledge of high school adolescents regarding reproductive health. The activity was held in November 2021 at Public Senior High School 2 Malang, involving male and female students. The activity was conducted through health education, discussions, and demonstrations about reproductive health. The chosen media for delivery were audiovisual materials (PowerPoint presentations and videos). Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test questionnaires related to knowledge. The complete questionnaires underwent data analysis. The data analysis results from the participants, with a total of 218 respondents who thoroughly answered the provided questions, showed that the majority of participants were female (71%), aged 16 years (49.1%), from 10th grade (54.6%), enrolled in the science stream (66.6%), and had previously received information about reproductive health (77.1%). Furthermore, a significant difference in reproductive health knowledge scores was found among male students (p-value 0.000), while for female students, the difference was not significant (p-value 0.892). In conclusion, audiovisual educational media effectively enhances reproductive health knowledge.

Abstract

Ease of access to health information services that are in accordance with community needs can increase awareness of the importance of health so that healthy habits and lifestyles are formed. However, obstacles can arise in obtaining the right information due to ignorance or lack of understanding of health information. One effort to minimize this is to provide health information to the public through social media, especially podcasts. Primary health care (Puskesmas) as health service providers have work areas and programs in the community, one of which is health promotion efforts. This program can be used to support health programs. The use of social media is considered important, because health topics are quite popular among netizens who use social media. Abstract

Abstract A healthy society is the main ideal in health development in Indonesia. Complementary therapy has now become the main alternative for people seeking treatment, because it is considered cheaper and less painful. The aim of this activity is to provide health examination services and complementary therapy of cupping and acupuncture to the community in Mayangan Village, Jombang District. This activity consists of a health examination, implementation of complementary cupping and acupuncture therapy, administration of medication and health counseling. There were 80 participants who took part in this activity. Most of the participants in this activity were pre-elderly (57%), with the largest gender being female (66%). The age range of participants is relevant to the complaints that arise during the health examination. The most common complaints are bone pain (40%), headaches (20%) and tingling in the feet (34%). This is in accordance with the symptoms that appear in metabolic diseases. In theory, the aging process will cause changes in all body systems in the elderly, one of which is metabolic changes which cause complaints as mentioned above. Cupping therapy or acupuncture is relatively safe for all diseases and for the elderly. The comfortable response from participants after therapy shows that this therapy can be carried out continuously in the community.

Abstract

Growth screening examinations are essential to assess whether a child is ready to enter a more structured education system because they can determine success at the formal education level. Our service was carried out by three service teams: eleven students from the Nursing Dept., Universitas Brawijaya, and eleven pre-school teachers. This activity is carried out from October to November 2023. We aimed to observe how children's nutrition status from height and weight (1), observe children's developmental checks using the Pre-Developmental Screening Questionnaire (KPSP) instrument (2) and discuss with parents the results of the child's growth and development health screening (3). The total number of children who could be observed was 97 children. The activity results showed that 49 children were female (51%) and 48 children were male (49%). The age range was 47-81 months, with the average age being five years. The growth results showed that 67 children were normal, and 10 were underweight (thin). There are no fat children. For height, 71 children were of normal height, 20 children were classified as tall, five children were classified as short, and one child had stunting. The development results using the pre-development screening questionnaire (KPSP) were that 71 children had appropriate development, 16 children had questionable development, and 10 children had development deviations. Most failures in development occurred in the language sector. This service is also conducted through consultation between lecturers and parents and provides information parents need for their child's school readiness. Hopefully, these results can be used as considerations for parents to determine when their children will start elementary school.

Abstract

AbstractTeeth have an important function for human life in terms of aesthetics, mastication and speech functions. Losing some teeth or even all teeth can result in a reduction or loss of these functions. A person can use dentures made by a dentist to replace missing teeth, because losing teeth in the mouth if left too long has the potential to adversely affect the condition of other teeth. The purpose of this research is to increase public understanding of the importance of making dentures so as to minimize the risk of losing teeth. The design is Quasy experimental. Samples were taken using a purposive sampling technique, which is posyandu cadres at the Dinoyo Health Center and Mojolangu Health Center. Statistical data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test.  The results showed that education on the importance of making dentures in the community through animated videos at the Dinoyo and Mojolangu Health Centers showed good results. There was an increase in the pre-post test scores of the extension participants. Based on the statistical test, the value of sig p=0.000 was obtained, which means that there was a significant change. It can be concluded that education about the importance of making dentures in the community for posyandu cadres delivered through animated videos shows good results and significantly increases the participants' understanding of the importance of making dentures in the community.

Abstract

According to the 2014 Individual Food Consumption Survey, 27% of Indonesia's population consumes more fat than dietary recommendations. Consuming fat > 30% of total energy might raise the Body Mass Index (BMI) and increase the risk of being overweight or obese. This activity aimed to provide nutritional education on regulating fatty food consumption in obese people. Counseling 20 obese adults was the focus of the activities. The parameters measured were pre-and post-test scores, fat, and cholesterol intake before and after counseling. The average pre and post-test scores were 57.00 ± 14.90 and 73.00 ± 7.32, respectively (p = 0.04). Before and after counseling, the average fat intake was 101.14 ± 12.82 and 67.43 ± 8.55, respectively (p = 0.00). The average cholesterol intake before and after counseling was 326 ± 51.33 and 227 ± 44.25 (p = 0.00). This activity concluded that education regarding managing fatty foods can influence knowledge, fat, and cholesterol intake

Abstract

Efforts to maintain dental and oral health should be done as early as possible so that dental caries can be prevented so as not to cause infection problems in children in the future. A tooth infection requires medical treatment because the infection can spread to other parts of the body such as the jaw, neck or head and cause other health problems. Parents and schools are one of the closest environments for children to train a child's motor skills, including brushing their teeth. The ability to brush teeth properly and early protective measures are quite important factors for maintaining teeth and mouth. The purpose of this activity is to reduce the prevalence of caries in elementary school students as early protection against the incidence of dental caries as source of infection in students of Elementary School Lesanpuro 2 Malang City. The design of this activity uses analytic observational with a cross-sectional approach. The sample used was grade 1 and 2 students at Elementary School Lesanpuro 2 with a total of 60 students. From the results of measuring knowledge, it was found that the average increase before and after being given education was from 86.92 to 97.75 and statistically there was a significant difference (p=0.000). Early protection interventions with dental and oral health education, brushing teeth together and topical application of fluoride can increase knowledge about caries and its prevention because there is an increase in knowledge about caries prevention after the intervention was carried out on students at Elementary School Lesanpuro 2.
