Abstract

This research aims to determine the critical thinking ability of students in solving story problems on the topic of linear equations in one variable in class VII B of SMPK Santo Paulus Karuni. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, which aims to describe and analyze students' abilities in depth through data collected in the form of words and narratives. The subjects of the study are students of class VII B, while the object of the research is the students' critical thinking ability in solving math story problems. Data collection techniques include written tests to measure critical thinking abilities, interviews to delve deeper into the reasons and thought processes of students when solving problems, and documentation as supporting data. Data analysis techniques are carried out through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results indicate that students' critical thinking abilities vary. As many as 16 students demonstrated high critical thinking skills, students with moderate abilities were able to meet evaluation indicators, and students with low abilities only met analysis indicators. These findings show that the critical thinking abilities of students at SMPK Santo Paulus Karuni are still diverse and need improvement, especially in the aspects of analysis and logical reasoning in solving contextual problems.

Abstract

The problem of low motivation and learning outcomes among elementary school students remains a challenge in the education sector in Indonesia. One alternative solution is the utilization of interactive technology-based learning media, such as the Wordwall application. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using Wordwall in improving student learning outcomes on the topic of "Transforming Forms of Energy" in fourth-grade elementary school. The method used is a literature review of four articles relevant to the research variables. Based on the review results, Wordwall is an educational application that provides quiz features and interactive games that can increase student engagement actively in the learning process. The use of Wordwall has proven effective in improving students' learning outcomes, in line with the interactive learning theories that underpin this study. However, challenges such as limited internet access and the need for teacher creativity in designing materials remain a concern. Therefore, training for teachers and infrastructure support are needed so that the implementation of this media can run optimally

Abstract

Menu Evaluation aims to evaluate the performance of the a’la carte menu at The Lounge & Bar, Hotel Ciputra World Surabaya, utilizing the menu engineering approach. The analysis encompasses 60 food items and 93 beverage items over the period from July to September 2024. Menu engineering is a data-driven method that assesses each menu item's popularity and profitability, facilitating strategic decisions regarding menu optimization. Employing a quantitative descriptive methodology, data were collected through direct observation, interviews with restaurant management, and sales data analysis. Each menu item was classified into one of four categories: Star, High popularity and high profitability. Plowhorse, High popularity but low profitability. Puzzle, Low popularity but high profitability. Dog, Low popularity and low profitability. The analysis revealed that items such as french fries and nasi goreng nusantara fall into the Star category, indicating both high sales and profit margins. Dishes duck spring roll and oxtail soup are categorized as Puzzle, suggesting they are profitable but not popular. calamari rings and chicken wings are identified as Plowhorse, being popular yet yielding lower profits. Conversely, fried platter and onion rings are classified as Dog, reflecting low sales and profitability.

Abstract

This literature review aims to determine the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on the material of time units in mathematics subjects for grade III of elementary school. The background of this literature review is the low understanding of students towards the concept of time units and the minimal participation of students in the learning process. This study uses a qualitative approach with a classroom action method carried out in two cycles. Data collected through student and teacher activities as well as learning outcome tests are analyzed descriptively. The results of the literature review show that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can improve understanding of the concept of time units, active student participation in discussions, and students' ability to solve problems on time unit material. Thus, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model is effective for improving the quality of mathematics learning in elementary schools, especially on time unit material.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the role that teachers apply in the 10-minute reading activity so that third-grade students at Banyuajuh 02 Elementary School have a good understanding of the reading material. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods. This research was conducted at UPTD Banyuajuh 02 Elementary School in Kamal. The subjects of this research are third-grade teachers who have direct responsibility for implementing the reading program in their classes. The results of this research were obtained through various data collection techniques, namely interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is qualitative data analysis, which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity test for the data in this study uses source and technique triangulation. The research results show that the roles played by teachers in students' reading interest are as follows: the teacher as an educator, the teacher as a guide, and the teacher as an individual. The indicators of the teacher's role as an educator meet three sub-indicators, namely easy-to-understand delivery, answering students' questions, and a conducive atmosphere. Then, the teacher as a guide meets three sub-indicators, which are providing guidance, encouraging students to ask questions, and translating difficult words. Finally, the teacher as an individual meets one sub-indicator, which is the teacher's attitude during activities

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of motivation and work environment on employee performance at the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) Tirtanadi Sunggal Branch. The approach used is quantitative. Data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires to 52 respondents who are employees of PDAM Tirtanadi Sunggal Branch. The questionnaire was constructed based on the indicators of each variable, using a Likert scale to measure the respondents' responses. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 25. The analysis results show that the motivation variable has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, with a t value of 3.587 > t table 2.00 and a significance of 0.001 < 0.05. Work environment variables also have a positive and significant effect, with a calculated t-value of 6.160 > table t 2.00 and a significance of 0.000 < 0.05. Simultaneously, motivation and work environment significantly influence employee performance, as shown by a calculated F-value of 42.15 > table F 3.19 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that both motivation and work environment have a significant effect on the performance of employees at PDAM Tirtanadi Cabang Sunggal, both partially and simultaneously.

Abstract

Education is a shared responsibility involving teachers, government, parents, and the community. One group of children who need special attention is children with mild intellectual disabilities, who have an intelligence level ranging from 50 to 70. Children with mild intellectual disabilities usually experience complex vocabulary problems that have an impact on mental development disorders or a lack of self-confidence. This study aims to improve vocabulary skills in children with mild intellectual disabilities using Pop Up Book media at SLB Negeri Manekat Niki-Niki, Amanuban Tengah District, South Central Timor Regency. The method used is classroom action research with a quantitative descriptive approach based on the Kurt Lewin model, which includes four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The study subjects comprised three children: two boys and one girl. Data were collected through observation sheets for students. The results of the study in the first cycle showed an increase in the vocabulary skills of children with mild mental retardation who used Pop up. Book media. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of Pop Up. Book media is effective in improving vocabulary skills in children with mild mental retardation at SLB Negeri Manekat Niki-Niki.

Abstract

Laptops are essential devices that support various academic activities for university students, such as writing assignments, programming, graphic design, and attending online classes. However, the wide range of available laptops with varying specifications and prices often makes it difficult for students to choose one that fits their needs and budget. This study aims to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method to assist students in selecting the most suitable laptop based on several relevant criteria. This research is a quantitative descriptive study. Data was collected using questionnaires and literature studies. The test results show that the system can accurately and efficiently generate laptop recommendations that align with user preferences. The conclusion of this study indicates that the application of the SAW method in a DSS is effective in simplifying the decision-making process for selecting laptops for academic purposes.
