Abstract

The hydroponic pilot project in the Batam State Polytechnic area was motivated by problems with economic conditions and declining health conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic. This project is expected to support the "growing your own food movement" in an effort to reduce unemployment, increase food security and a healthy lifestyle. The hydroponic method was chosen because it is very easy to do and does not require a large area of "‹"‹land. In this community service activity, a hydroponic plant building framework will be made as a prototype of an efficient and efficient hydroponic building so that it can be used by the wider community. This activity is also useful for applying design knowledge as one of the PbL activities carried out by CAD, CNC, CAM, and Fabrication Engineering courses in the Mechanical Engineering Department, so that it can become an arena for higher education participation to support people's lives. The method of implementing this community service activity is to make observations to find a suitable area to build a hydroponic plant house, then the results of the observations are poured in the form of a design by utilizing software so that the materials needed and the shape of the framework that is built can be known. The last activity is making a hydroponic plant place. This activity is planned to be carried out from April to November 2021. Based on the results of the evaluation of the service program questionnaire for product distribution, it is known that the majority of respondents are satisfied with the products produced.

Abstract

Today, the current development of Batam City is not only in the development of industrial and tourism areas but also leads to the development of agriculture and plantations. This was done as a form of effort in maintaining food security for areas in Batam City, where initially a lot of food needs were supplied from areas on the island of Sumatra. The city of Batam, whose territory consists of islands, creates obstacles in the development of agricultural land and plantations. Among them are types of soil that are difficult for seasonal crops to grow; water resources that depend on rainwater; as well as access to agricultural and plantation locations that are spread across several islands, making it difficult to deliver logistics and agricultural products. Soil conditions greatly affect the quality of the plants produced, and the type of soil will affect the types of plants suitable for planting. Based on these obstacles, the Batam State Polytechnic formed a Community Service team to support the agricultural land development program, one of which was the development team for portable soil condition measuring devices in collaboration with a partner from "Kelompok Tani Maju Mandiri" on Setokok Island. Community service activities are carried out in stages, apart from field surveys in order to identify the needs of farmer groups, the current community service period has reached the development of portable soil condition measuring devices with test results still in laboratory testing and not yet testing on actual agricultural land. The field survey results describe the condition of the partner's agricultural soil, which is brownish-red in color, mostly clay. Plants that are quite successful in the form of green curly chili plants. The water source comes from small rain-fed reservoirs prepared around agricultural land. The results of the measuring instrument design have reached the laboratory testing stage, which has shown the value of soil nutrition. Testing measurements on agricultural land directly and assisting partners in operating measuring instruments will be carried out at the next community service stage.

Abstract

Utilization of waste for recycling planting or known as a recycled planter, where one of the results is in the form of a plastic container that can be used as a medium for planting TOGA (in Indonesian: Tanaman Obat Keluarga) (family physic medical plants). The recycle planter and TOGA have economic value and health and support the go green program. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out an activity to introduce and practice the recycle planter and TOGA. This community service activity is carried out to provide a solution to this problem, where this service activity is carried out in three stages, namely 1) pre-field, 2) socialization, practice, and mentoring, and 3) report and publication preparation. This activity was carried out at RT 02 Tanjung Kertang Village, Galang District, Riau Archipelago Province. The results of this service are in the form of pot planters and TOGA products that can be used by residents. In addition, residents can also apply and practice how to make recycled planters and TOGA plastic containers

Abstract

The rapid development of large-scale infrastructure in Indonesia indicates the need for solutions for fast crack applications with accurate results using methods that are efficient in terms of time and data generated. One example of the development of mapping technology in this modern era is aerial photography not only using manned aircraft, but you can also use an unmanned aerial vehicle or UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). This unmanned aircraft is better known as a drone, which is currently at an affordable price, easy to get and has the ability to shoot like a manned aircraft. Measurements were made using photogrammetric techniques from aerial photographs produced by drones. With results that have high accuracy, and can be done in the shortest possible time, then the use of drones in making topographic maps will be more widely used in the future. In our study and research survey that we conducted in the form of PBL (Project Based Learning) Politeknik Negeri Batam students in community service in the soaking village, Tanjung Riau, Batam Island, namely for making aerial photo maps using the DJI Phantom 4 RTK drone which we carried out in the village soak.

Abstract

The Tax Volunteer Program is a concrete step in the dedication of the Batam State Polytechnic academic community to assist the role of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) in conducting tax education to increase taxpayer awareness and compliance. This program is also used as PBL which is required for D3 Accounting Study Program students and involves 5 courses in the 4th semester. Volunteers assist in reporting the Individual Annual Tax Return internally at the Batam State Polytechnic and external parties at the Regional Office of DGT Riau Islands as well as several companies cooperating with the Regional Office of DGT Riau Islands. In 2023, tax volunteers succeeded in assisting 808 Individual Taxpayers both from internal Polibatam and outside Polibatam parties. More than 87% of Individual Taxpayers who were assisted by tax volunteers felt the assistance provided by Polibatam Tax Volunteers was very useful and easy for Individual Taxpayers to understand so it could greatly assist Individual Taxpayers in reporting their tax obligations. Many Individual Taxpayers hope that this program can be carried out every year by increasing the skills and understanding of tax volunteers and improving the mechanism for implementing assistance by adding a short tutorial on reporting the Individual Annual Tax Return through e-Filing.
