Abstract

This study examines life's different ideas, values, and views, which are the basis of pesantren's thinking and philosophy. It leads to the contestation of educational ideology in determining the ways, values, and methods in pesantren’s education. Influenced by the Naqsabandiyah-Kholidiyah order, it emphasises traditional salafiyyah sorogan learning methods alongside practices of spiritual discipline, or tirakat, to deepen Islamic understanding. Over time, however, this foundation was supplanted by a diniyyah educational ideology, which structured classroom learning around classical texts and adopted the missionary methods of the tabligh cong-regation. It emphasises adherence to the Sunnah and mosque-centered outreach, which became central to Al Fatah Temboro's philosophy. Data collection for this study involved direct and indirect observations, structured interviews with key informants, and analysis of pesantren documentation. Data were then reduced, categorised, and verified through triangulation to ensure accuracy. The findings reveal that ideological competition within Al Fatah Temboro eventually led to establishing a unique ideology that defines the institution today. It becomes one of the greatest pesantren in Indonesia, with the diniyyah education system: Jamaah Tabligh, called as diniyyah jamaah tabligh.

Abstract

This study explores the curriculum development at Pesantren. This study focuses on Mushtofawiyah Pesantren. The pesantren faces significant challenges in integrating religious education based on the yellow book, which constitutes 80% of the curriculum, with general subjects allocated at 20%. This research employed a qualitative case study method. Data collection techniques were in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. Then, the data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman & Saldana model. Data validity was checked through triangulation by comparing data from various sources. The results indicate that the curriculum management at Mushtofawiyah Pesantren successfully creates a synergy between religious and general education despite challenges such as internal resistance and limited facilities. The success of the alumni, who now play prominent roles in various public and professional sectors, along with the strength of the alumni organization network, underscores the effectiveness of the educational model implemented. These findings offer valuable insights into how pesantren can adapt and remain relevant amid changing times without losing their religious identity.

Abstract

This study examines the management model of women’s leadership in Islamic higher education institution. Amidst the unpopularity of women leaders leading public Islamic religious universities, IAIN Ponorogo has been led by women for over a decade (2010-2023). This research employed a qualitative methodology involving some women leaders at IAIN Ponorogo, mainly the current rector and two heads of study programs. This research is limited to examining the last period of current women's leadership. The results of this study reveal that leaders at IAIN Ponorogo have standards for building the quality of higher education. The women's leadership management model tends to be feminist-transformational, which explores how women leaders contribute to the main elements of management: input, process, and output. The role of leaders in the main aspects of management is to ensure the availability of input indicators, encourage implementation, assist implementation, be actively involved in process indicators, and produce a feminist-transformational leadership model in output indicators. The behavioral framework that shows feminist-transformational is a charismatic leader who can stimulate intellectually, have individual attention, and be an inspiration and motivation.

Questionnaires were administered to students to gather feedback for product improvement during the trial phase. While to assess product effectiveness, data collection was carried out using test techniques. Results in a structured learning framework consisting of Course Learning Outcomes (CPMK), Semester Learning Plans (RPS), and Practical Guidelines. N-gain analysis demonstrates that the program is moderately effective in improving environmental knowledge and attitudes, but lowly effective in behavior changes as a recent activity. This implies that a systematic environmental learning approach is needed which needs to go beyond the boundaries of one course.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of social media, specifically YouTube, on the religious practices of millennial students in Ponorogo. The increasing reliance of millennials on YouTube as a primary source of religious content indicates a shift from traditional religious education to digital platforms, driven by YouTube’s diverse content offerings. The research aims to explore this phenomenon by employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method. Using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the study examines the factors influencing the acceptance and use of YouTube for religious learning. At the same time, Social Construction Theory was applied to understand how social interactions and media influence students' religious practices. The findings reveal that YouTube facilitates religious engagement without time or location limitations, offering a flexible, innovative platform for spreading religious messages. Millennial students in Ponorogo construct their religious practices through externalization, objectivation, and internalization, with YouTube as a central medium. This study presents new insights into the shift in religious patterns among millennials, where YouTube content broadens their religious understanding and influences beliefs, encompassing both moderate and conservative perspectives.
