Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of Islamic leadership, workplace spirituality, and innovative work behavior on teachers’ Islamic performance through Organizational Citizenship Behavior Islamic Perspective (OCBIP) mediation. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational type. The population of this research was all certified teachers in Madrasa Aliyah Ponorogo, Indonesia. The total sample involved was 276 certified teachers. This study employed the proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data were collected directly from respondents. The analysis in this study used Partial Least Square. The research findings reveal that OCBIP mediates the influence of Islamic leadership and workplace spirituality on teachers’ Islamic performance but fails to mediate the influence of innovative work behavior on teachers’ Islamic performance. Hence, the present study offers an essential contribution to the Islamic management literature by showing the mediating role of OCBIP in the relationship between leadership spirituality and performance, as well as providing practical insights for developing educational policies that are more holistic and with Islamic values.

Abstract

The veiled student is still debatable and faces negative stigma from society, such as Islamic fundamentalist groups, radicalists, terrorists, exclusive groups, and adherents of deviating ideologies. This research aims to find out the veiled student responses to that negative stigma and give prophetic education by transforming prophetic values so that they understand and implement them in their life as individuals and social humans. This qualitative research used a purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques were in-depth interviews, observation, and focus group discussion. Data analysis used NVivo 14 software, which serves as an analytical tool that clarifies and strengthens the interpretation of qualitative data by visualization of data coding results. The results show that the veiled student has been aware of negative stigma from society. Their responses are positive and negative, with internal and external strategies. The prophetic education and veiled law by focus group discussion indicated that the informant shows an open attitude, accepts the understanding of prophetic values, and all of the subject matter about veiled law in Islam and radicalism. That understanding of prophetic education can be based on their implementation in their life as individuals and social humans, until the efforts to prevent Islamic radicalism based on Islamic institutions can be achieved.

Abstract

The slopes of Mount Bromo in Probolinggo represent a multicultural society grappling with the implementation of religious moderation. The area's distinct geographical and cultural context necessitates a localized approach by integrating local wisdom. This study explores how local traditions foster religious moderation using Peter L. Berger’s theory of social construction-externalization, objectivation, and internalization. A qualitative method was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Findings indicate that local wisdom is externalized through cultural practices promoting tolerance, such as gotong royong, and joint religious-cultural ceremonies like Kasada and Melasti. These expressions become objectified as shared rituals and social symbols. These values are internalized through informal education and community socialization, shaping individual and communal attitudes. Integrating local wisdom into religious moderation fosters an inclusive identity, reduces interfaith tensions, and promotes lasting harmony in this diverse society. Viewed through Berger's framework, the process successfully creates sustainable social cohesion. This study concludes that contextualizing religious education through local traditions effectively strengthens multicultural resilience and nurtures peaceful coexistence in rural settings like Mount Bromo.

Abstract

This study highlights the critical role of Islamic education in shaping students’ environmentally responsible character – an urgent imperative in light of escalating environmental degradation. This study aims to examine the integration of Islamic educational values and fiqh al-bi’ah into the curriculum, analyze the implementation of character-building programs that promote environmental awareness, and explore the implications of this integration for developing students’ environmentally caring character. Using a qualitative multisite approach, data were gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation involving teachers, students, and school officials at MTsN 8 Blitar and MTsN 2 Kediri. Thematic analysis revealed that integrating Islamic educational values and fiqh al-bi’ah significantly improved students’ ecological responsibility. Activities such as tree planting, composting, and school-wide waste management fostered consistent pro-environmental behavior grounded in religious teachings. The research concludes that this integration encourages active student participation and awareness by embedding Islamic environmental ethics into both curricular and extracurricular activities in a systematic, multidisciplinary, and collaborative manner. This approach builds environmentally conscious character and aligns with broader goals such as sustainable development. The study recommends replicating this model in other Islamic educational institutions to promote ecological awareness and responsibility among future generations.

Abstract

This study investigates the mental health challenges faced by santri (Islamic boarding school students) in pesantren at Mandailing Natal, alongside the effectiveness of spiritual practices and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) as coping mechanisms. Employing a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data from 200 active santri were analyzed using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21), complemented by qualitative interviews with santri and ustadz (religious teachers). Findings reveal that female santri and those in grades 4–6 exhibited greater vulnerability compared to male santri and those in tsanawiyah (junior secondary) levels (p<0.05). Grade 4 marked a significant increase in mental health challenges. Salaf (traditional pesantren) reported higher anxiety levels (Mean=16.24, SD=10.87, p=0.041) compared to semi-modern institutions. Regular spiritual practices were found to reduce depression, though they proved less effective for drop-out santri facing modern pressures. SEL demonstrated potential in mitigating anxiety (OR=0.62, p=0.038, CI=0.39–0.98), with 80% of ustadz expressing support despite concerns over secularization. Integrating spirituality and SEL is recommended to holistically support santri's well-being within a modern context.

Abstract

The Indonesian government launched the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program that offers students diverse learning opportunities beyond the classroom. This study aims to investigate the implementation of the MBKM program in State Islamic Higher Education Institutions in Aceh. The study utilized a qualitative case study research method, conducted at three PTKINs in Aceh. It involved UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh, IAIN Lhokseumawe, and IAIN Langsa. Data were collected through observations and interviews and then analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings reveal that implementing the MBKM program includes curriculum integration, experiential learning, student mobility, community service, research, and digital platforms. Efforts to achieve these involve partnerships, curriculum reform, digital innovation, faculty capacity building, experiential learning, and a quality assurance mechanism. Further, the success factors comprise institutional synergy, effective socialization, well-defined policies, adequate resource allocation, and student motivation. Conversely, the implementation faces challenges such as insufficient data reporting and inconsistent credit recognition. Given the study’s limited scope, future studies should broaden their focus to enhance generalizability and explore institution-specific challenges in greater depth.

Abstract

This study investigates the need for an educational model that bridges traditional pesantren cultural values with the demands of 21st-century education. The research addresses the gap in current educational practices that often neglect integrating character-based Islamic values with contemporary life skills and technological competence. Researchers used a qualitative research approach in field studies. Data collection used observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through source, methodological, and time triangulation. Then, the data were analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana's (2014) interactive model, consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study lie in its innovative approach to integrating traditional pesantren values with modern 21st-century skills, focusing on character building, practical life skills, and the use of information and communication technology (ICT) to improve educational outcomes. This integration aims to create a holistic and relevant education model for contemporary times.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education at three types of secondary schools in Kudus: senior, vocational, and Islamic high schools. The study addresses challenges such as the gap in teachers' ability to integrate technology, limited learning time, and the need for content adaptation. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 12 Islamic religious education teachers and direct observation at senior, vocational, and Islamic high schools. The research findings reveal significant variations in the implementation of the curriculum. The vocational high school excels in integrating the EMIRA digital platform and developing co-curricular projects relevant to the world of work. Senior high schools excel in developing a holistic evaluation system, although they face challenges in increasing student engagement. Meanwhile, Islamic high schools are still in the early stages of adaptation, primarily focusing on preparing appropriate curriculum documents. This study demonstrates that the Merdeka Curriculum has the potential to enhance the relevance of Islamic religious education learning to students' real-life experiences. However, its implementation still faces various technical and pedagogical challenges. These findings provide important implications for the development of educational policies and teacher training programs in the future.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of constructivist teaching strategies and analytical literacy on students' critical thinking skills among Islamic higher education students. A quantitative approach with an experimental research design was used, where data were collected via a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring three variables: constructivist strategy, analytical literacy, and critical thinking. The sample comprised 60 students from the English Education Program at IAIN Curup, selected using total sampling from three classes during the even semester 2025. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that both constructivist strategy and analytical literacy significantly influenced critical thinking, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.538, indicating that these two variables could explain 53.8% of the variance in critical thinking. The F-test showed a significant joint effect (F = 33.142, p < 0.05), while the t-test indicated that analytical literacy had a stronger individual impact (t = 4.588, p < 0.05) compared to the constructivist strategy (t = 1.807, p = 0.076).
