Abstract

This community service program aimed to empower the Women Farmers’ Group (Kelompok Wanita Tani/KWT) in Potronayan Village, Boyolali, through the cultivation and processing of Family Medicinal Plants (Tanaman Obat Keluarga/TOGA) based on a creative economy approach. The program was implemented through participatory, educational, and innovative methods involving training, mentoring, and direct practice. The activities focused on improving TOGA cultivation and diversification, developing processed products, strengthening simple business management, and improving product branding and marketing. The results showed that the KWT was able to cultivate seven types of TOGA, with 95% of members participating in the training activities. The program also produced three value-added TOGA products, namely herbal tea bags, instant herbal powder, and dried simplicia, marketed under the brand “Berkah TOGA.” In addition, improvements were achieved in financial administration, organizational management, packaging, and product branding. These activities demonstrate that TOGA can be developed not only as a source of family health but also as a potential resource for strengthening community-based creative economic activities. The integration of cultivation, processing, management, and marketing provides a foundation for sustainable empowerment and increased utilization of local resources in Potronayan Village.

Abstract

The community service activities conducted in the Selayar Islands aimed to improve students’ knowledge of oral health and to facilitate the early detection of dental caries through educational activities and screenings among students at the Benteng 58 Elementary School (UPT SDI) in the Selayar Islands. The program consisted of educational sessions, a pre-test, screening and oral health examinations, demonstrations and practice sessions on proper toothbrushing techniques, as well as evaluation via a post-test and reinforcement of the School Dental Health Program (UKGS). The educational sessions were conducted interactively and covered topics such as the importance of maintaining oral health, the causes of dental caries, caries prevention, and proper toothbrushing techniques. The results of the activity showed that students were able to participate in the educational sessions and practice toothbrushing techniques under the guidance of the community service team. Screening results indicated that 57.9% of students had dental caries and 42.1% did not, indicating that dental caries remains a significant oral health issue among students. Evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests was used to assess changes in knowledge following the educational sessions. This activity demonstrated that a combination of education, screening, and toothbrushing practice can serve as both a promotive and preventive measure while supporting the early detection of dental caries in school-aged children. Strengthening the School-Based Oral Health Program (UKGS) and conducting regular dental health checkups are necessary to support the sustainability of oral health programs in school settings.

Abstract

Periodontal disease is a prevalent oral health problem among coastal communities, particularly fishermen, due to limited access to healthcare facilities and a high prevalence of smoking habits. This study aimed to increase the knowledge and awareness of the fishing community regarding the prevention of periodontal disease through health promotion and early detection screening. This community-empowerment program involved 28 male fishermen in Lowa Village, Bontosikuyu Subdistrict, Selayar Islands. The intervention included periodontal tissue screening and oral health education. Program effectiveness was evaluated by comparing participants' knowledge levels before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the educational intervention. The results revealed that prior to the intervention, all respondents (100.0%) were in the poor knowledge category. Following the educational session, the knowledge level of all respondents (100.0%) significantly improved to the good category. Structured health promotion combined with early detection screening effectively enhances oral health literacy in coastal areas. Continuous health promotion and preventive programs involving local stakeholders are strongly recommended to maintain the periodontal health status of fishing communities.

Abstract

This article presents the design of a community service program on human resource performance management for the Pimpinan Anak Cabang (PAC) GP Ansor in Pagedangan District. The program is planned to begin in September 2026 and addresses four partner problems: limited understanding of performance management, unclear division of duties and responsibilities, the absence of measurable performance indicators, and limited managerial skills among administrators who largely serve voluntarily. The intervention combines interactive training, group discussion, case-based learning, workshops on job descriptions and key performance indicators, implementation mentoring, and periodic performance evaluation. Evaluation is designed through pre-test and post-test measurement, participation observation, and evaluative discussion. The proposal sets a minimum target of 70% improvement in participants’ understanding and expects structured job descriptions, performance indicators, and a performance-evaluation document. Because the source is a proposal rather than a completed activity report, this manuscript presents expected outputs and an evaluation framework without claiming post-implementation results.
