Abstract

This study explores the impact of using ChatGPT on environmental literacy among fifth-grade students at MIN 1 Bengkulu City, Indonesia. This research employs a mixed-methods approach and analyzes four works by Roald Dahl—Giraffe and the Pelly and Me (2007), James and the Giant Peach (2007), Fantastic Mr. Fox (2007), and Danny the Champion of the World (2009). The environmental themes in these works are analyzed through the critical framework of Matthew Arnold, which highlights the moral relationship between humans and nature. The study involves two groups: an experimental group using ChatGPT to explore environmental themes, and a control group utilizing traditional teaching methods. Environmental literacy is measured through pre-test and post-test assessments, supported by student questionnaires and teacher interviews. Quantitative findings show a significant improvement in the experimental group (p < 0.05), indicating that the use of ChatGPT enhances students’ understanding of ecological issues. Qualitative data reveals higher student engagement and a positive perception of ChatGPT as a learning tool. From an Arnoldian perspective, these narratives prove effective in cultivating environmental appreciation by emphasizing the moral connection between humans and nature. Overall, this study demonstrates how AI-based tools, combined with children’s literature, can enrich the learning experience and promote sustainable thinking among elementary school students.

Abstract

The high unemployment rate in Indonesia is partly due to limited access to education. The Package C equivalency program at PKBM Alam Rumah Matahari offers a non-formal education solution that is an alternative for people who have not completed formal education and also prepares graduates for the world of work. This study analyzes the management of the Package C curriculum at PKBM Alam Rumah Matahari Sukodono Sidoarjo in preparing graduates for the world of work. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with observation, interview, and documentation data collection techniques. The data is then analyzed using Milles and Huberman's analysis techniques, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions to obtain valid data. The results of the study show that curriculum management includes planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating which are adjusted to the needs of students and the world of work. Government funding support, infrastructure, and implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum are the main supporting factors. However, challenges such as low student attendance and public views on PKBM need to be overcome. The impact of this curriculum can be seen from its graduates who are able to become entrepreneurs or work in the government sector. Optimization of curriculum management and increasing public awareness need to be strengthened so that Package C graduates are better prepared to compete in the world of work and contribute to reducing unemployment.

Abstract

This article seeks to explore the role of Indonesian language teachers in implementing the Pancasila student profile. In this context, Indonesian language teachers are responsible for guiding the learning process, ensuring that moral values are conveyed and can be applied by students in both school and community settings. The younger generation today is facing a decline in morals and local wisdom, driven by the rapid advancement of globalization. This trend could lead to a loss of national character or identity among the youth, which requires special attention to address these issues and foster an understanding of good character within the educational framework. The classroom learning process must be of high quality to effectively support positive representations of Pancasila values, such as devotion to God, independence, critical thinking, creativity, cooperation, and global diversity. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach and literature review, referring to sources related to the role of Indonesian language teachers in incorporating the Pancasila learner profile into Indonesian language education. The materials presented by Indonesian language teachers can integrate the Pancasila learner profile into various competencies, focusing on noble character, independence, critical thinking, cooperation, creativity, and diversity.

Abstract

This research on student concentration in the math learning process by applying the Naïve Bayes algorithm which aims to (1) determine the Naïve Bayes Algorithm in determining student concentration in the math learning process, (2) determine the chances of student concentration in the math learning process. This research uses the Naïve Bayes classification data mining method. This research was conducted at SMPN 4 Cirebon City with a total sample of 101 students The instrument used was a student questionnaire. The results showed: data mining has 4 stages consisting of datasets, data cleaning, data grouping, namely data grouping, and Naïve Bayes algorithm modeling. A model was obtained to predict the class by multiplying the probability of each criterion and then multiplying it by the probability of concentration or the probability of less concentration. There are 0.7 concentration classes and 0.3 less concentration classes. Based on the RapidMiner application, there is an Accuracy value of 94.00%. Class precision on concentration prediction has a value of 94.44%, while the prediction of less concentration has a value of 92.85%. Class recall on true concentration has a value of 97.14%, while on true lack of concentration has a value of 85.57%.

Abstract

This study aims to produce a module to improve students' mathematical literacy. This study is a Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model which includes: (1) analysis, (2) design, (3) development, (4) implementation, and (5) evaluation. The subjects in this study were 20 students of class VIIIE of SMP Negeri 02 Wuluhan. The instruments used were a module validity questionnaire, a module practicality questionnaire, and an effectiveness test device in the form of pre-test and post-test questions. The results of the pre-test and post-test were tested using the paired sample t-test. The results showed that the module achieved an average validity of 93.7% (very valid), and a practicality of 98.47% (very practical). The Paired Sample T-Test showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results (sig. 0.000 <0.05) with an increase in mathematical literacy scores of 33.57. So, it can be concluded that the module is valid, practical, and effective in improving students' mathematical literacy.

Abstract

This study analyses research trends regarding students' learning motivation and cognitive development in Southeast Asia from 2014 to 2024 using bibliometric analysis. The study examines the necessity for an in-depth comprehension of the growth of educational psychology in this crucial location through the analysis of publishing trends, cooperation networks, and theme advancements. Employing quantitative bibliometric technique, data were gathered from the Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases utilising systematic keyword combinations pertinent to learning motivation, cognitive development, and Southeast Asian nations. The investigation included co-occurrence mapping, temporal visualisation, and theme grouping with VOSviewer software. The findings indicate five primary thematic clusters that embody different theoretical views, illustrating a paradigmatic transition from neurobiological approaches (2014-2016) to contextual-pedagogical themes (2017-2019), ultimately leading to themes of digital-pandemic adaptability (2020-2024). The research delineates the confluence of Self-Determination Theory, Piaget's cognitive development theory, Vygotsky's social constructivism, and executive function theory into a cohesive framework. Prominent topics encompass cultural backdrop, linguistic development, and socioeconomic considerations, illustrating the distinctive complexity of Southeast Asia. The research illustrates the evolution from disparate disciplinary methods to a cohesive multi-theoretical framework, integrating achievement goal theory with growth mindset and the Technology Acceptance Model with self-regulated learning theory. These findings underscore the need for culturally sensitive and technology-enhanced educational techniques that utilise advancements in neuroscience and digital technologies to optimise student learning outcomes in the different socio-cultural contexts of Southeast Asia.
