Abstract

The Arebbe tradition is a form of almsgiving where the reward is intended to be sent to deceased relatives. The procedure involves sending food and dishes to religious figures residing near the executor's residence, as well as requesting prayers for deceased relatives. This tradition continues among the urban Bangkalan community even though geographically, Bangkalan Regency is close to the metropolitan city of Surabaya. This research aims to explore the Arebbe tradition and its procedures, how the tradition persists and evolves, and how it can continue to survive using the concept of the four basic styles of action initiated by John Obert Voll. This research is a descriptive qualitative study with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques include unstructured interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique for this research utilizes the Moustakas model, simplified by Cresswel. The research found that the Arebbe tradition can continue to thrive among the urban Bangkalan community due to four supporting factors: first, adaptationism, such as replacing home-cooked meals with store-bought dishes.; second, the authority of the text as religious legitimacy, with a theological basis or postulates from religious texts supporting the Arebbe tradition; third, conservative action, consisting of advice and messages from elders to continue maintaining Arebbe traditions; fourth, personal aspects or charismatic figures supporting the Arebbe tradition among the urban Bangkalan community

Abstract

Corruption cases that occur in insurance companies are one of the most dangerous moral hazards that must be prevented for the sake of a healthy economic system and the implementation of good governance. The research employs a descriptive-qualitative approach in the field. Primary data were obtained through interviews, documentation, and observation, with technical analysis conducted through checking, analyzing, and comparing. The results showed that the Financial Services Authority mentored and evaluated the report on the implementation of GCG by insurance companies, as outlined in Article 79 of POJK Number 73/2016, which concerns good corporate governance for insurance companies. This is in line with the rules, which aim to eliminate the evil. The role of OJK in preventing moral hazard is carried out by providing sanctions listed in the regulations on administrative sanctions and additional sanctions, ensuring compliance with the principles of fiqh: danger must be eliminated.

Abstract

Indonesia’s multicultural society, characterized by ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity, is vulnerable to intergroup friction, especially given the strong religious convictions of its people. Building multicultural awareness through moderate religious practices is therefore crucial. Balun Village, recognized as the “village of Pancasila” for its strong pluralism, exemplifies this effort. This research investigates the role of women in fostering religious moderation and explores the social construction of women’s involvement in Balun Village. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were gathered through observation, interviews with religious, community, and women leaders of various backgrounds, and documentation from village authorities and related organizations. Data analysis followed the Miles & Huberman technique, encompassing data reduction, display, verification, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that women play a strategic role in promoting religious moderation across multiple domains. Within families, women serve as educators of tolerance, instilling diversity values in children from an early age. Socially, they participate in inclusive religious and community activities and act as mediators in interfaith groups to maintain harmony. Additionally, women help preserve local culture as a unifying force amid pluralism. Their influence is evident in interfaith economic initiatives, the internalization of moderation values in family education, and their leadership in religion-neutral social activities. Through active engagement, women in Balun Village significantly contribute to creating a harmonious and moderate society.

Abstract

Differentiated learning was an innovative educational approach aimed at meeting the learning needs of each student according to their characteristics, potential, and learning styles. In modern education, students had varying levels of readiness, interests, and cognitive profiles, which required teaching strategies to be flexible and adaptive. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of differentiated learning strategies in improving student learning outcomes and engagement. This research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach conducted in several schools that had implemented differentiated learning. Data were collected through observations, interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of instructional documents. Thematic analysis was used to explore how differentiation strategies were applied and their impact on the learning process. The results showed that well-implemented differentiated learning strategies enhanced students’ motivation, conceptual understanding, and active participation in the classroom. Teachers who applied these strategies were better able to adapt learning content, processes, and products to accommodate students’ unique needs, leading to a more inclusive and effective learning environment. In conclusion, differentiated learning proved to be an effective method for addressing individual learning needs and improving educational quality. Therefore, educators required ongoing training and support to design and implement differentiation strategies effectively across diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

This study conducts a systematic literature review drawing on 38 peer-reviewed articles to explore ICT-driven pedagogical innovation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE). The research addresses the following questions: How can ICT be effectively integrated to enhance IRE pedagogy while preserving Islamic ethical values? Using thematic analysis, 28 selected articles were analyzed to identify key themes including e-learning platforms, interactive media, teacher digital literacy, and digital content credibility. The findings highlight both opportunities for personalized, engaging learning and challenges such as infrastructural gaps and misinformation risks. The study contributes an original framework emphasizing the integration of Islamic digital ethics in ICT pedagogy. Limitations include the focus on English-language sources and the exclusion of empirical case studies. Future research should develop and test practical models of ethical ICT integration in diverse Islamic educational contexts.

Abstract

This article explores the Qur'anic concept of tazkiyah al-nafs (purification of the soul) through the lens of Sufi values, emphasizing key spiritual principles such as muraqabah (self-awareness), jihad al-nafs (striving against the ego), ikhlas (sincerity), taqwa (piety), and sabr (patience). Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Pancasila and Rahmatan lil-Alamin (P5RA) Student Profile Strengthening Project on the formation of students' tolerance attitudes in the Madrasah Aliyah environment. P5RA is an integral part of the Merdeka Curriculum implemented in madrasas, with the main objective of instilling character values, including attitudes of tolerance between religious communities and social diversity. This study uses a correlational quantitative approach with data collection techniques through a Google Form-based questionnaire distributed to 124 grade XI students at MA Negeri 2 Probolinggo. The research instrument consisted of 24 statement items for variable X and 10 items for variable Y that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. The results showed that there was a very strong relationship between the implementation of P5RA and students' tolerance attitude with a correlation value of 0.84. The coefficient of determination of 69.88% indicates that most of the variation in students' tolerance attitude is influenced by the implementation of P5RA. The regression equation obtained is Y = 0.41X + 0.88, which indicates that an increase in P5RA implementation will have a positive impact on increasing students' tolerance attitudes. This study concludes that P5RA has a significant role in shaping students' tolerant character. The implications of the results of this study reinforce the importance of integrating the values of religious moderation and tolerance in every aspect of learning and school activities. Recommendations are given to madrasah and policy makers to continue to develop the P5RA program thoroughly and sustainably.
