Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of mathematical proficiency among students in Indonesia. In addition, teaching materials are dominated by textbooks that consist mainly of text and lack meaningful learning activities. As a result, students struggle to solve real-life problems. Therefore, improvements in numeracy skills are needed, including the development of relevant, contextually appropriate student worksheets as assessment for learning. This study aims to develop worksheets based on contextual learning principles as assessment for learning to facilitate the development of numeracy skills among fifth-grade elementary school students. This study uses the ADDIE development model, but only up to the development stage. The research subjects consisted of all fifth-grade students and teachers at three schools in the city of Parepare, South Sulawesi, located in three different parts of the city. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The data were analyzed descriptively, qualitatively, and quantitatively. This worksheet is based on the principles of contextual learning, with characteristics of constructivism, inquiry, questioning, learning community, modeling, reflection, and authentic assessment. It presents fractions material with examples and problems from students' daily lives, supported by attractive visual designs and clear instructions for use. It is feasible and practical for elementary school mathematics learning. It can support numeracy skills of elementary school students through contextual learning principal and as assessment for learning with real-time feedback. Thus, students are actively engaged in the learning process, and the learning is meaningful to them because it relates to their daily lives.

Abstract

This study explored the concerns, stressors, resilience, and performance of receiving teachers working with learners with special educational needs (LSEN’s). Utilizing descriptive research design, it surveyed 294 elementary and secondary receiving teachers, using adapted versions of the Teachers Stress Inventory Scale, Concerns on Inclusive Education Scale, and Teachers Resilience Scale. Descriptive statistics alongside Pearson correlation analysis were used to examine the relationships between teachers' concerns, stressors, resilience, and their performance in handling LSEN’s. Results indicated a significant correlation between these factors, highlighting the impact of teachers' concerns, stressors, and resilience on their performance. The study recommends embedding special education content across pre-service teacher education programs and developing resilience-building initiatives to address concerns and stressors, equipping receiving teachers with the essential skills, knowledge, and strategies needed to effectively manage LSEN’s.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence based automated assessment systems have developed rapidly over the past decade; however, studies that integrate technological, pedagogical, socio-cultural, and ethical dimensions simultaneously remain limited. This study presents a multi-paradigmatic analysis of 24 articles published in Scopus Q1 and Q2 indexed journals between 2020 and 2025. Three research questions are posed: the types and capacities of emerging automated assessment systems, their pedagogical and ethical implications, and the evaluative framework required. The analysis identifies six categories of automated assessment systems, with a dominant shift toward large-scale language models in recent studies. The findings indicate that technical superiority does not necessarily guarantee fairness or pedagogical validity. Three fundamental ethical issues are consistently identified: linguistic discrimination, lack of system explainability, and the indispensable need for human oversight. In response, this study introduces the TAPE-H Framework (Technology, Assessment Theory, Pedagogy, Ethics, Human Oversight) as an integrative evaluative model that assesses automated assessment systems holistically, moving beyond accuracy based metrics alone.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media, particularly Instagram, has created new spaces for the practice of teaching and learning Arabic language and literature beyond formal educational institutions. Previous studies have extensively examined Arabic language educational content on Instagram; however, research focusing specifically on Arabic literary content remains limited. Therefore, this study aims to map the content materials and analyze the strategies for presenting Arabic literary learning content on the Instagram account @puisi_arab. It seeks to address this research gap while encouraging scholars and practitioners of Arabic literature to contribute to enriching the presentation of literary content through Instagram. The analysis focuses on learning materials presented and content presentation strategies. This study adopts a qualitative content analysis approach, with data derived from 35 posts on the @puisi_arab account selected through systematic sampling techniques. The findings indicate that the account presents a wide range of Arabic literary learning materials, including classical poetry, modern poetry, literary aphorisms (ḥikam), qaṣīdah, poetry, prose, and the history of Arabic literature. The content presentation strategy utilizes a combination of literary texts, illustrative visuals, background music, and interpretive narration in captions, with a dominant use of the single-image format that displays excerpts of poetry and prose accompanied by explanatory captions. These findings suggest that social media can function as an alternative space for the dissemination and appreciation of Arabic literature in the digital era, while also offering opportunities for the development of microlearning-based literary instruction models.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency among adolescents has become a growing concern in non-formal educational environments, particularly due to negative social influences, weak parental supervision, and limited understanding of moral and cultural values. This study aims to develop and evaluate local culture-based digital storytelling media as a preventive strategy against juvenile delinquency among adolescents at the Laskar Pelangi Community Learning Center (PKBM). The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. The participants were 30 adolescents aged 10–15 years selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test questionnaires, observation sheets, and expert validation, and analyzed using normality tests, paired-sample t-tests, and linear regression analysis. The findings revealed that the developed digital storytelling media effectively improved participants’ understanding of moral values, cultural awareness, and social behavior. The paired-sample t-test showed a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05), while the regression analysis indicated that the media significantly contributed to juvenile delinquency prevention, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 79%. In addition, participant engagement reached 85%, indicating strong interest and active involvement during the learning process. The study concludes that local culture-based digital storytelling is an effective and engaging educational medium for strengthening character education, promoting cultural identity, and reducing tendencies toward juvenile delinquency among adolescents in non-formal education settings.

Abstract

This study was driven by the low critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students in Pancasila Education at SDN 101854 Sei Mencirim. The issue stems from lecture-based teaching and the use of conventional worksheets (LKPD), which limit students’ practice in higher-order thinking tasks. This is reflected in daily test results on the Constitution and Norms in Society topic, where most students failed to meet the Minimum Competency Standard (KKM). Therefore, this research aims to develop a computational-based worksheet and evaluate its feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness. This study used a Research and Development (R&D) method with a 4D model, including the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The results indicate that the computational-based worksheet, with its stages of decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm, is valid, practical, and effective. Expert validation increased, namely material experts. from 76% to 90.6%, language experts from 68.8% to 92.8%, and media experts from 77.3% to 94%. Teachers' practicality reached an average of 88.5% (very practical). Effectiveness was evident in the increase in the average pretest score from 61 to 80.16 on the posttest, exceeding the Minimum Completion Level (KKM) of 70. Therefore, this Student Worksheet (LKPD) is suitable for use as an alternative learning medium to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study analyses the social aspects of human literacy among Early Childhood Education Program (ECEP) students in Medan to support children with special needs in inclusive settings. Using a descriptive quantitative design, data were collected from 127 fourth-year students through a 48-item questionnaire covering six indicators: justice, respect, care, leadership, relationship-building, and communication. The results show that students’ social human literacy is in the “good” category (M = 3.21). Care (empathy) and communication scored the highest, indicating strong interpersonal sensitivity in supporting diverse learners, including children with special needs. However, social leadership was the lowest, suggesting limited readiness in initiating and managing inclusive practices. Overall, students demonstrate moderate to strong readiness for inclusive education, but improvements are needed in leadership and action-oriented competencies. The study highlights the importance of integrating experiential learning in teacher education to better prepare inclusive educators.

Abstract

Culturally grounded learning. Unlike previous studies, which mainly used folktales from Java and other regions of Indonesia, this research introduces a novel contribution by developing and empirically testing a Maluku folktale-based model in early childhood education (ECE) settings in the Nusaniwe District. The study aims to produce a valid, practical, and effective character education model using the Research and Development (R&D) approach adapted from Borg and Gall, which includes three main stages: content expert validation, module expert validation, and user testing conducted in two ECE institutions with a total of 48 children and six teachers over four months. Data analysis using t-tests and N-Gain calculations revealed a significant improvement in honesty, responsibility, empathy, and cooperation, with an average N-Gain of 0.70 (p < 0.05). The research team evaluated the learning module and confirmed its high feasibility, strong engagement potential, and practical applicability in integrating Maluku's cultural narratives with reflective and participatory learning processes. It is engaging and easy to implement because it effectively integrates Maluku's cultural narratives with reflective and participatory learning activities. Theoretically, this research expands the framework of character education rooted in ethnopedagogy by combining moral-narrative and local cultural approaches. In practice, it provides a concrete foundation for teachers and ECE institutions to adopt similar models, thereby strengthening character education grounded in local wisdom relevant to Indonesia's sociocultural context and archipelagic regions.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical period for establishing lifelong dietary habits, yet nutritional knowledge among Indonesian adolescents remains inadequate. This study aimed to examine the effect of nutrition education using digital flipchart media on nutritional knowledge and eating patterns among adolescents at Metro School Makassar. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was employed, involving 90 adolescents divided equally into an experimental group (digital flipchart) and a control group (PowerPoint). Data were collected using a 30-item multiple-choice nutritional knowledge test and a 40-item eating pattern questionnaire adapted from the WHO Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS), the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS), and the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the independent sample t-test following normality (Shapiro-Wilk) and homogeneity (Levene) tests. Results showed that the experimental group achieved a mean posttest nutritional knowledge score of 25.82 (SD = 1.749), with 91.1% of students categorized as "good," compared to 19.76 (SD = 1.798) in the control group, where no student reached the "good" category. Eating pattern scores also improved significantly in the experimental group (mean posttest = 149.22), with 91.1% achieving the "good" category, while the control group remained at the "adequate" level. Independent sample t-tests confirmed significant differences between groups for both nutritional knowledge (p = 0.000) and eating patterns (p = 0.000). These findings demonstrate that digital flipchart media is significantly more effective than PowerPoint in improving nutritional knowledge and eating patterns among adolescents.

Abstract

Teaching science through STEAM projects is increasingly popular in Indonesian elementary schools, yet one persistent challenge is the lack of psychometrically validated assessment instruments that match what actually happens in those classrooms. This study developed and validated a three-part STEAM-based assessment package—a conceptual post-test (17 items), a project performance rubric (15 criteria), and a student response questionnaire (25 Likert items)—for use across three hands-on projects: a Stick Bridge (Grade 4/Force), an Energy-Efficient House (Grade 5/Energy), and a Simple Flashlight (Grade 6/Electricity). Two expert validators assessed content validity using Aiken's V, and 102 students from SDN 2 Tapa and SDN 3 Batudaa in Gorontalo completed the instruments as part of an empirical field trial. Results showed strong content validity (V̄ = 0.812), acceptable reliability for the 16-item valid questionnaire scale (α = 0.732), and a positive student response rate of 76.9%. Rasch Rating Scale Model analysis revealed that all items fell in the negative logit range, indicating a person-item gap that points toward a need for more challenging items in future revisions. A significant difference between schools was found for individual post-test scores (p = 0.018). These findings confirm that the instruments are content-valid, reliable, and practically usable in Indonesian elementary science classrooms, while also providing clear directions for refinement.
