Abstract

Character education has become a major focus in the education system in Indonesia, particularly in vocational schools. This study examines the integration of character education into the vocational curriculum at SMK Mardhotullah Al-Islamy, aiming to assess the impact of implementing the Panca Jiwa and Panca Karakter values on shaping students' character, balancing technical competence and moral integrity. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through interviews with teachers, field observations, and analysis of curriculum documents and program implementation. Data analysis was conducted descriptively to describe the implementation and impact of character education in the vocational school context. The results show that the integration of character education into the vocational curriculum at SMK Mardhotullah Al-Islamy has successfully shaped students who are not only technically competent but also possess high moral values. The role of teachers as Ruhul Mudarris and the supportive school environment contributed significantly to the success of the program. Challenges encountered in the implementation of the program include time constraints, varying levels of understanding among teachers, and the socio-economic backgrounds of students. This study recommends that this approach be adapted by other vocational schools in Indonesia, with adjustments to local contexts

Abstract

The discussion of material and methods for gender-responsive sex education is an important issue within the context of Islamic education, approached with sensitivity to gender differences. This study aims to explore how sex education can be aligned with Islamic teachings that emphasize moral values, ethics, and gender justice. The study finds that the material for sex education in Islamic education must encompass aspects of reproductive health, ethics of inter-gender relationships, and the value of purity in Islamic teachings. Additionally, the teaching methods applied should be sensitive to gender issues, avoiding stereotypes, and providing equal space for both men and women in understanding sexuality. This research also identifies various challenges, such as conservative perceptions in society and the unpreparedness of parents as educators in delivering sex education materials. It can be concluded that, with the appropriate materials and methods, gender-responsive sex education in Islamic education will contribute to the development of individuals who are healthy physically, mentally, and spiritually, while respecting the values of gender equality and justice.

Abstract

The impact of globalization complicates the situation and emphasizes the importance of the economic aspect in the world of work. The high unemployment rate indicates that graduates of educational institutions are often less competitive due to weak human resources. Human resources are greatly influenced by the quality of education, to provide quality education in addition to human resources as teaching staff must also be supported by adequate facilities and infrastructure, to create a quality educational atmosphere is inseparable from the relatively expensive budget. The cost of education is certainly relatively expensive if all of it is charged to the parents of students, to overcome this educational institution must process to be independent in terms of economy, including by presenting entrepreneurship in educational institutions. To achieve a prosperous life, both providers and recipients of education need to understand the concept of entrepreneurship. The presence of entrepreneurs provides support for the achievement of educational goals. Islamic boarding schools, as Islamic educational institutions, design a curriculum that combines aspects of religion and world knowledge in one unit. A dynamic and intensive educational approach influences the formation of the character of students, including an independent attitude. The potential for student independence is the basis for Islamic boarding schools in developing economic aspects. The principles that need to be considered in developing business units in Islamic boarding schools include: (1) ownership of the business unit by the institution itself, where the leadership does not have the authority to make unilateral decisions regarding financial management; (2) implementing good governance to maintain trust, including reporting and holding regular consultations between leaders regarding the development of the business unit; (3) recruiting workers who are experts in their fields and come from within the institution to ensure effective communication; (4) paying attention to the legal aspects of the business entity to optimize available opportunities; and (5) forming a team of experts, at least involving senior staff, to oversee the development of the business unit.

Abstract

One of the social problems in the world of education is bullying. Bullying often occurs in school environments, including in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs). In the context of Islamic education, bullying behavior is very contrary to Islamic values that teach about tolerance, compassion, respect for others, and avoiding cruel acts. The increasing cases of bullying in educational environments indicate the need for more effective prevention efforts. This study aims to develop a guidance and counseling program based on Islamic values to prevent bullying in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs). This program is expected to strengthen the role of guidance and counseling (BK) teachers in educating and guiding students to prevent bullying behavior in the school environment. This study uses a research and development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model approach which includes five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. At the field needs analysis stage, needs identification was carried out through BK teachers from various regions in Indonesia using a questionnaire distributed online. The design stage is an initial prototype which will later be continued with a development stage that is validated by three experts including language experts, Islamic religious education experts, and Islamic guidance and counseling experts. The development process continued with implementation testing on 10 BK teachers to assess the effectiveness and suitability of the program in the field. The final stage was an evaluation conducted with feedback from experts to refine the program. The results of the study showed that BK teachers at the MTs/SMP level really needed a structured Islamic guidance and counseling program for bullying prevention. This program was proven effective after going through the validation process and implementation test, where BK teachers stated that this approach had a positive impact on reducing bullying behavior among students. In addition, the results showed that the implementation of this program can have a long-term positive impact, both in building better student character and creating a safer and more conducive school environment. This study recommends strong collaboration between teachers, parents, and other education stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the bullying prevention program. In addition, it is recommended that other researchers explore other bullying prevention approaches that are appropriate to the cultural context and religious values at various levels of education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the potential integration of Islamic inheritance law, particularly the concept of murder as a disqualifier for inheritance rights (māni’ al-mīrāṡ), as a medium for character education within the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum. Family conflicts over inheritance disputes, often culminating in acts of murder, provide a critical context for connecting moral values such as justice, responsibility, and respect for life to ethics-based learning. This approach innovatively employs the normative concepts of Islamic law as a character development tool, addressing the modern era's moral challenges. The study adopts a qualitative-descriptive methodology, incorporating analyses of Islamic law literature and character education frameworks. Primary sources include the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical jurisprudential texts such as Al-Mughni by Ibn Qudamah and Al-Ahkam As-Sulthaniyyah by Al-Mawardi. Secondary sources encompass literature on character education and learning strategies. Content analysis is employed to identify the moral values inherent in Islamic inheritance law and their relevance to character education using case-based studies. The findings indicate that Islamic inheritance law can effectively function as a tool for character education, fostering values such as self-control, respect for life, and ethical conflict resolution. Case-based learning and problem-based learning (PBL) approaches prove effective in integrating these themes into the moral and religious character formation of students. This study offers a novel, contextual, and practical approach distinct from conventional teaching methods, addressing the increasingly complex moral challenges posed by materialism and individualism in society.

Abstract

The field of education is currently facing significant challenges, particularly concerning moral degradation. This research aims to understand the concept and analyze the results of the evaluation of Islamic Education (PAI) learning based on character education at SMP Al-Amin Sempu Secang, Magelang. This study employs field research with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study are students of SMP Al-Amin Sempu Secang, Magelang, while the object of the research is the character-building instruments, one of which is reflected in the exam questions designed by teachers to stimulate students to think positively. The findings of the research indicate that the evaluation of PAI learning at SMP Al-Amin integrates character development through exam questions. These questions are crafted to align with answers that leave a meaningful impression on students, encouraging them to internalize the implicit character values presented in the questions or answer options. At SMP Al-Amin, character development is also incorporated into Islamic Cultural History (SKI) exam questions, particularly in materials related to the Abbasid Caliphate. By implementing character-based evaluations in the PAI curriculum, holistic and integrated noble character traits are nurtured in students, enabling them to balance their character development effectively. Character education does not always need to be explicitly embedded within teaching materials during the learning process. Instead, through well-designed exam instruments, educators can convey messages of character education to their students. It is hoped that these messages will serve as life lessons (ibrah) that students can apply in their real lives.

Abstract

Technological developments, especially artificial intelligence (AI), have encouraged innovation in various fields, including education. This research aims to explore the application of deep learning in the learning process to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of education. Using a qualitative method based on literature studies, data is collected from relevant journals, articles, and books. The results show that deep learning, as a branch of AI, is able to overcome various complex problems, such as pattern analysis, learning personalization, and adaptive evaluation. The system utilizes a layered artificial neural network that mimics the work of the human brain to generate accurate predictions and intelligent solutions. In the context of Islamic education, the application of this technology can support the development of student competencies holistically, in line with religious values. The conclusion of this study confirms that the integration of deep learning in education not only improves the quality of learning, but also prepares students to face the challenges of the digital era.
