Abstract

Abstract: The study's goal was to explain Islamic education ideals in the Damar tradition in Patipi Pulau Village, Fak-fak Regency. It is a qualitative study with a social phenomenological method, involving observations, interviews, and recording utilizing Miles and Huberman's flow model analysis technique. The study's findings: The festiveness of the mosque on the night of Lailatul Qadar is a practice carried out by the community in Patipi Pulau Village by participating in religious rituals together, with delight, such as breaking the fast, offering alms, torch procession, and reading the Qur'an. Volunteerism, which is honesty and refraction, is the basis for alms to mosque administrators. People's lives are affected by high kinship values. Culture and religion come together to produce a sense of community among residents, a sense of solidarity that is raised spontaneously by the community in the practice of traditions. Devotion, charity, alms, al-ukhuwah, Khuluqiyah, al-Masuuliyyah, al-Munfiqun, and friendship are among the Islamic educational ideals taught in the tradition. Mosque administrators carry out their duties and obligations with seriousness since caring for the mosque is a noble responsibility that is passed down from generation to generation or passed down via inheritance. The community retains meaningful traditions (beliefs, knowledge, and habits) as a means of organizing, accepting, and creating subsequent interactions and acts based on common understanding. Abstract

Educational media plays a pivotal role and forms an essential component within the educational framework. For third-grade students in elementary schools or madrasahs studying the theme of energy transformation and its sub-theme of energy sources, pedagogical tools are necessary for teachers to effectively impart thematic content, particularly in relation to the concept of time (hours). The methodological approach employed in this study is structured around the ADDIE model, encompassing Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation phases. The study's objectives were twofold: (1) To understand the development of the JOIN medium in relation to the sixth theme, first sub-theme, for third grade elementary/madrasah students, and (2) To gauge the degree of student engagement with the JOIN medium. The participants of the study comprised 17 third-grade students from Madrasah Mambaul Ulum Malang in the 2018/2019 academic year. The research yielded two key findings. Firstly, the JOIN tool, a large craft resembling the Japanese character Doraemon with an analogue clock integrated into its design and a pouch for storing thematic materials and questions, serves as a thematic learning medium, facilitating teachers in the transmission of educational content. Secondly, the study revealed a high level of student enthusiasm and enjoyment with the JOIN tool during the learning process. A questionnaire was employed to measure the students' reaction, revealing a very high validity rating of 92%. The teachers' response was similarly high at 90%, while content experts rated the tool at 84%. Initially, the tool expert gave an assessment of 88%, which increased to 97% following revisions. The study therefore concludes that the JOIN tool demonstrates high validity and is thus deemed an effective supplementary resource for the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between social media use and high-risk sexual behaviour among tertiary institution students in Kwara State, Nigeria. A total of 561 students were selected by using stratified sampling technique. Data was collected with an instrument titled: Social Media and High-Risk Sexual Behaviour Questionnaire (SMHRSBQ). The measure of central tendency (mean) and mean average were used to determine levels of social media use and involvement in high-risk sexual behaviour. The Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation and One-Way ANOVA Statistics were used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. The Mean Average of responses on social media use was 3.19 while that of high-risk sexual behaviour was 2.83 indicating high levels on both variables among tertiary institution students respectively. Relationship between social media use and high-risk sexual behaviour was significant (p=0.00); no significant difference in social media use and high-risk sexual behaviour based on institution type (University=0.61; Polytechnic=0.13; College of Education=0.06: University=0.11; Polytechnic=0.16; College of Education=0.21) respectively. It was concluded that high use of social media predisposes students to high-risk sexual behaviour. School guidance counsellors should organise seminars periodically to sensitise students on the association between social media use and high-risk sexual behaviour.

Abstract

Lyrical literature is one of the most important and famous types in Persian literature, which is used to express romantic themes and it has been common in various forms such as ghazal and masnavi (double-rhymed verses). The fifth century poet Unsuri’s Vāmiq u ‘Adhrā, Ayyuqi’s Varqa wa Golshāh, Fakhruddin As'ad Gurgani’s Vis and Rāmin are among the famous works in this type of literature. However, this type of literature reached its height in the sixth century in the form of masnavi by Nizami Ganjavi, who among lyrical and romantic poets, according to the masters of speech, no poet has ever achieved his success in storytelling and the evolution of this type of literature. Taking the importance of “Shirin” and “Layla” in the well-known poetries of “Khosrow and Shirin” and “Layla and Majnun” into account, in order to clarify the layers and dimensions of their personality and society on one hand and in attempt to identify the effect of society and parents in forming one’s personality and life on the other hand, the author first presents the summaries of these two stories and then tries to compare and contrast these two elegant characters- according to the characterization of the master and the storyteller of Ganja- and compare their parents and the society among which they were living. May God’s grace abound toward us.

Abstract

This systematic literature review explores the application of the Problem Posing Model, a holistic educational approach, in civic education to enhance elementary school students' problem-solving abilities. By fostering a comprehensive understanding of conflict resolution and cooperative problem solving, civic skills, derived from civic knowledge, become meaningful tools in addressing national and societal issues. This review methodology involves the identification, review, evaluation, and interpretation of empirical studies conducted over the past five years (2018-2022), focused on applying a civic skills-oriented problem-posing model in elementary education. The initial search yielded approximately 250 articles from databases such as ERIC, Google Scholar, and Sinta. After a meticulous process, 20 articles, primarily from high schools and universities, were chosen for the review using three primary keywords: problem-posing models, civic skills, and problem-solving abilities. The selected articles were published in international or national educational journals, including Scopus and Sinta, adhering to specific criteria such as the focus on Civics learning strategies, addressing misconceptions about the application of problem-posing models and problem-solving, and publication within the last five years in Scopus (Q1-Q4) and Sinta (S1-S4) indexed journals. The research findings indicate that the problem-posing model enhances students' critical thinking and creativity, proving more effective than conventional teaching methods. The integration of civic skills in Civics subjects boosts students' active participation, fostering attitudes of tolerance, cooperation, and responsibility. Therefore, the application of a civic skills-oriented problem-posing model can significantly improve students' ability to analyze problems critically, demonstrating openness, tolerance, and accountability.

Abstract

The development of an era that has always been mediated by technology has influenced the generational differences that adapt in each time. The context of learning that is carried out tends to transform according to the differences in generations. This study seeks to review the characteristics of learners based on existing generational differences. The approach used is in the form of a traditional literature review where the author reveals a discussion that is in accordance with the literature that the author finds. The literature sought focuses on generational differences that will then be attributed to the characteristics of learners. The result of this review is in the form of differences in the characteristics of learners based on the generation of birth. The greatest generation (GI) focuses on initiatives in learning. The veteran (silent) generation focuses on standardizing learning. Baby boomers are focusing on learning independence. Generation X focuses on learning balance. Generation Y (millennials) focus on controlling learning independently. Generation Z focuses on abstract learning constructions. The alpha generation focuses on creativity. The last (likely) beta generation focuses on complex learning processes with the help of surrounding artificial intelligence. This review is expected to contribute through exposure that can be an alternative reference for the world of education.

Abstract

This study investigates the performance of the translation correction tool, Grammarly, in assessing the accuracy of translations; with a descriptive-based qualitative method. The object of this research is the bilingual annual report of PT. Gudang Garam Tbk, which was officially released from the website. Data is collected by analyzing documents and generating data findings. The data is further analyzed by ethnographic methods using domain, taxonomy, componential, and cultural themes. The findings are patterned manually with the classification of translation techniques, which resulted in accurate, inaccurate, and inaccurate translations. This finding reviews the Grammarly evaluating system to assess accuracy so that there are differences between manual analysis and system assessment (translation correction tool). This research contributes to the dynamics of translation learning technology to prioritize manual editing because the system does not have the accuracy to meet industry needs.

Abstract

The acceleration and optimization of an individual's development can surpass that of their peers, with disparities emerging from age-related, genetic, dietary, and environmental factors. A profound understanding of human development serves as a crucial foundation for comprehending an individual's needs and character, particularly among elementary-aged children. Defined as those aged 7-12 years or encompassed within the educational system, this demographic necessitates a thorough examination of their cognitive development. Cognitive development constitutes an extensive domain that encompasses various thinking abilities, such as reasoning, memory, problem-solving, ideation, and creativity. Consequently, the present study embarks on a substantive and comprehensive analysis of the cognitive development of elementary-aged children, elucidating its implications for pedagogical practices and learning activities within primary educational institutions (SD/MI). The overarching objective of this research is to ascertain the cognitive development levels of children aged 7-12 and beyond, further exploring the subsequent ramifications on teaching materials, strategies, models, and learning methodologies. The anticipated outcomes of this scholarly inquiry are twofold: to augment the existing body of knowledge accessible to the general public and to provide a valuable resource for educators as they fulfill their pedagogical obligations. By investigating the subject matter through a literary or library research approach, this study engages in data collection and information synthesis derived from various sources housed within libraries.
