Abstract

Higher education institutions are expected to adopt learning strategies that go beyond academic mastery to cultivate reflective, communicative, and creative abilities as key 21st-century competencies. This study describes the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) integrating reflective essay writing and academic poster design, and examines its effects on students’ reflective skills, visual communication, and professional literacy. A mixed-method approach with a sequential explanatory quasi-experimental design was used. Participants were 107 students from the Accounting Education Study Program at Yogyakarta State University, divided into an experimental class (55 students) and a control class (52 students). The four-week intervention followed four stages: concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. Data were gathered through questionnaires, artifact analysis (essays and posters), classroom observations, and semi-structured interviews. Results indicate that multimodal PjBL significantly improved students’ critical reflection. Qualitative findings show that combining written reflection with visual expression enabled students to connect theory and practice more meaningfully, increased learning motivation, and strengthened professional awareness, particularly in using academic English. The study confirms that multimodal PjBL is an effective and innovative approach in higher-education ESP instruction. It recommends broader and longer implementation in Accounting courses to enhance employability skills and better align learning with professional workplace demands.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of the Problem-Driven Iterative Adaptation (PDIA) approach assisted by Mind Your Own Business (MYOB) software on students’ financial statement preparation skills and analyzes the moderating role of learning interest. This research employed a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group pretest–posttest approach involving 60 vocational accounting students divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through practical tests and questionnaires and analyzed using independent samples t-test and moderated regression analysis. The results show that students taught using PDIA assisted by MYOB achieved significantly higher financial statement preparation skills than those in conventional learning (Sig. < 0.05). Furthermore, learning interest has a positive and significant moderating effect, strengthening the relationship between PDIA-assisted MYOB and students’ skills. These findings indicate that integrating problem-based iterative learning with accounting software effectively enhances students’ technical competencies, particularly for those with higher learning interest. Therefore, the PDIA-assisted MYOB approach can be considered an effective instructional strategy in vocational accounting education. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantu Quizizz terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi PPh Pasal 21. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode eksperimen dengan desain quasi eksperimen. Sampel penelitian ini diambil secara cluster random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan melakukan pre-test dan post-test pada kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji prasyarat analisis dan uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan software SPSS Versi 27. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pada penerapan model problem based learning berbantu quizizz terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi PPh Pasal 21. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai signifikansi pada uji t sebesar 0,001 (p < 0,05).

Abstract

Generation Z is entering adulthood, which is why their status as digital natives exposes them to high online distractions, particularly the fear of missing out (FOMO). Recent data shows that 77% of Generation Z purchasing decisions are influenced by social media, so this study aims to evaluate the effect of FOMO and financial knowledge on financial well-being with self-control as a moderating variable. An online questionnaire, 322 Gen Z respondents were selected using the Hair formula. Data were analyzed by path analysis through SmartPLS 4.0. The results suggest noteworthy impacts of both FOMO and financial well-being (FWB) on this demographic, such that while each factor contributes to explaining individual financial well-being, only one of them acts as a moderator. The variance in financial well-being explained by this model is the 61.9% with an acceptable data fit. FOMO can be a motivator to seize financial opportunities. Overall, this study deepens the insight into financial behavior by providing a brief overview of both sides of FOMO in the digital world, and incorporating self-control as a psychological filter when making financial decisions.
