Abstract

Elementary school students are classified as playing-age children, they like to do activities while playing. This research aims to determine the influence of the Game-Based Learning (GBL) learning model on students' cognitive activities and abilities. This type of research is quasi-experimental, one-group pre-test and post-test design. The population of this study were Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students at Darussalam Seuksa School, Thepa, Southern Thailand. The research sample for grade 5 students was 28 students. Student activity is measured using an observation sheet with indicators measured using a 1-5 Likert scale. Cognitive abilities are measured by tests. The results of data analysis showed that the class average N-gain value was 0.73 for learning activities, and a value of 0.80 for student cognition. The N-gain value is 0.7 or g > 0.7, it can be concluded that the GBL model with effective interpretation is used, because it is in the high criteria. The results of the analysis of the percentage of student activity obtained a pre-test value of 47.11%, and the post-test obtained a value of 85.63%. The results of the cognitive percentage analysis obtained a pre-test value of 70.71% and the post-test value obtained a value of 94.0%. The results of the Wilcoxon test obtained a tailed asymp sig value of 0.00, meaning that there was a significant influence between the pre-test and post-test. GBL influences student activities and has a significant influence on student cognition

Abstract

Given that information and communication technology is still a luxury for poor students, especially in developing countries like South Africa. It is crucial to examine the extent of the inequalities and social marginalisation learners face due to lack of access to ICT, as well as the impact on their learning. This study, therefore, explores the use of ICT in public schools by synthesising existing literature on its effect on the teaching and learning of socially and economically marginalised learners. Using the qualitative research approach involving document analysis and literature review, this study reveals that lack of resources, skills and the costs of the internet have worsened hardship and limited poor students’ access to ICTs and the opportunities that come with it. Findings also revealed that the South African government’s policies on ICTs and inclusive education have not been well implemented, thereby resulting in the exclusion of many students who are not privileged to attend highly ranked schools or privileged to be born in upper/middle-class homes from ICTs. It is essential to review ICT and inclusive education policies, along with effective monitoring, to ensure proper implementation as well as prevent the exclusion of underprivileged students

Abstract

This study examines the governance of basic education access for Indonesian Migrant Workers’ children in Sabah and Sarawak by focusing on the roles of multi-actors involved in service provision. Using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and document analysis, the study finds that the operation of Community Learning Centers is highly dependent on the interaction between the Malaysian government as the licensing authority, plantation companies as facility providers and funders, and the Indonesian government through Atdikbud, KJRI/KRI, and SIKK as facilitators of educational diplomacy and the roles of PMI communities. Non-governmental organizations such as Humana Child Aid Society also enhance access in areas not covered by CLCs. The findings indicate that education provision for migrant children is the result of adaptive, cross-actor collaboration shaped by coordination and negotiation on the ground.

Abstract

Abstract

Critical thinking is essential in dealing with today's information complexity because it allows individuals to make informed decisions and overcome challenges in a systematic way. Several media have been developed to support the development of these skills so that an evaluation of the media's effectiveness is needed. The purpose of this study is to determine if students' critical thinking abilities may be enhanced by using the IPS GO internet learning media. An experimental approach with a pretest-posttest design for a single group is used in this study. Forty students from a Madiun City school were the subjects of this study. Tests and observation are used to gather data for this study. The t test and N-Gain are two quantitative tools used in research data analysis. According to the study's findings, students' critical thinking abilities are significantly impacted by using the IPS Go website's learning media. An N-Gain rating of 0.37, or 37%, indicates an improvement in conceptual comprehension or mastery. Thus, junior high school students' critical thinking abilities can be enhanced by using the learning media on the IPS GO website.
