Abstract

XYZ.

Abstract

Bidikmisi students typically originate from low socioeconomic backgrounds and encounter a variety of risk factors that impede their ability to meet the requirements of the Bidikmisi scholarship, particularly in financial terms. This study utilized a qualitative collective case study methodology to investigate the pathways leading to educational resilience by examining the interplay of protective and risk factors, which are hypothesized to differ between “resilient  (n=15) and “non-resilient” (n=10) students, as determined by their Grade Point Average (GPA) and engagement in non-academic activities. Purposive sampling was employed to select Bidikmisi students based  on specific criteria. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews with third-year Bidikmisi students and were analyzed using the Social Ecological and Doughnut Resilience frameworks. The findings revealed that, in addition to financial constraints, students faced several other risk factors, including inadequate learning facilities, social barriers, social pressure, familial issues, motivation deficits, personal traits, learning difficulties, and physical and psychological health challenges. Conversely, protective factors were identified within parental support, skill development, family and identity, education, peer relationships, community engagement, and financial resources.

Abstract

The rapid increase in adolescent drug abuse in Indonesia requires special attention to adolescent resilience against drug abuse and personal factors, such as assertiveness and self-esteem. This study aimed to investigate the role of assertiveness and self-esteem in enhancing resilience among rehabilitated adolescent drug addicts. This study employed a non-experimental quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research sample consisted of 80 individuals selected using a total sampling technique. The instruments used included the Irish Assertiveness Scale, Coppersmith Self-Esteem Inventory, and Grotberg Resilience Scale. Data analysis techniques involved descriptive statistical analysis and multiple regression analysis using SPSS software version 25. The results indicated that assertiveness significantly role the resilience of adolescent drug rehabilitation (r=0.567, p<0.05), while self-esteem also affected resilience (r=0.471, p<0.05). Furthermore, assertiveness and self-esteem jointly played a significant role in the resilience of adolescent drug rehabilitation, with an R Square value of 0.487 (p<0.05). These findings suggest that assertiveness and self-esteem can serve as strong predictors of resilience among adolescent drug addicts.  Rehabilitation programs should focus on assertiveness and social skills education, as well as on developing more effective drug rehabilitation policies.

Abstract

Students face significant academic demands when completing their final projects, which often leads to feelings of reluctance and postponement to do the final project. This study aims to examine the role of fear of failure as a mediator in the relationship between perfectionism on the procrastination among students working on their theses. Employing a quantitative approach, this research utilizes a cross-sectional study method. The sampling technique applied in this study is cluster random sampling, involving a total of 358 participants from one of the universities in Medan City. The research instruments used include the APS-S scale, the multidimensional perfectionism scale, and the fear of failure scale. The results of mediation analysis using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with the PLS-SEM 3.0 program showed that fear of failure significantly mediated the influence of perfectionism on academic procrastination in students with t-Statistic= 8.866>1.96 and p-Values=0.000<0.05. These findings imply that fear of failure amplifies the tendency of perfectionist students to avoid situations that may lead to mistakes or failures, consequently resulting in delays in completing their theses. It is better for them to develop a growth mindset by shifting the focus from outcomes to the learning process and setting realistic goals will help students reduce academic procrastination.

Abstract

Students who can maintain their abilities and function competently throughout their educational journey until completion are considered resilient. To become a resilient student, several attributes are necessary, both internal and external. Internally, self-efficacy the belief in one’s ability to complete tasks and fulfill obligations is crucial. Externally, social support from family, friends, and significant others plays a vital role. This study aims to examine the effect of social support on students’ academic resilience, with self-efficacy serving as a mediating variable. This study employs a quantitative methodology involving a sample of 270 students from a private university in Medan, with participants aged between 21 and 27 years. The instruments utilized in this research included the MSPSS scale, the General Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Academic Resilience Scale. Mediation analysis conducted using PLS-SEM4 showed that self-efficacy significantly mediates the relationship between social support and academic resilience, as indicated by a t-statistic of 4.440 (greater than 1.96) and a p-value of 0.000 (less than 0.05). This study's findings suggest that self-efficacy partially mediates the relationship between social support and academic resilience among students. Specifically, students who receive strong social support and possess high self-efficacy are more likely to confront their challenges and fulfill their academic responsibilities, ultimately developing resilient students.

Abstract

Individuals have two assessments in viewing career success, one of which is assessing success subjectively. Career success is success that comes from internal criteria of individuals. Among the many evaluations of career success, it is obtained through work experience. This work experience makes individuals evaluate their abilities, which is called perceived employability. In the context of teachers, these abilities are used to face the work environment in the future. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between perceived work ability and teachers' subjective career success. The study population consists of male or female teachers who hold appointment letters as permanent or non-permanent teachers at a foundation or as civil servants (ASN), and have at least five years of work experience, selected using quota sampling from 20 schools. The method used in this study is correlation analysis. The instruments used in this study were the perceived employability scale and the Subjective Career Success Inventory (SCSI). This study used the Pearson Product Moment correlation test analysis technique, and the results were analysed by dimension. The results of this study indicate that the internal perceived employability dimension is related to the subjective career success dimension, including the dimensions of recognition, quality of work, influence, authenticity, personal life, growth and development, and satisfaction. Furthermore, the external perceived employability dimension is related to the subjective career success dimension, including the dimensions of recognition, quality of work, influence, authenticity, and satisfaction. In conclusion, the internal perceived employability dimension is related to all dimensions of subjective career success. Meanwhile, the external perceived employability dimension is not related to all dimensions of subjective career success
