Abstract

The researcher chose this title because of problems in listening skills learning activities, such as students have not been able to receive information or messages contained from a speaker, which is caused by a lack of vocabulary, their inability to differentiate short and long sounds of letters in pairs. In addition, the students lack interest in learning, and the teacher chooses media and methods unsuitable for listening learning activities. This study aims to analyze the application of chain whispering games in teaching listening, analyze the effect of chain whispering on students' learning outcomes, and reveal the supporting and inhibiting factors in teaching this game. This quantitative research uses an experimental (pre-experimental) method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were students of class VIII at MTs Serpong, and researchers took research samples of 33 students in class VIII. Researchers used data collecting methods: pre- and post-tests, observation, interviews, and questionnaires. After the researcher gave the pretest and posttest to students, this study obtained an average pretest score of 53.48 and an average posttest score of 79.10, with the results of the effectiveness of the N-Gain pretest and posttest of language games on students' listening skills was 54.0 with the category enough. After the calculation, the table value is obtained at the 5% level, which is 0.943, and shows that the Zero Hypothesis ( 16HO" style="width: 15pt; height: 15pt;"> ) and the Alternative Hypothesis ( 16Ha" style="width: 15pt; height: 15pt;"> ) are accepted. It shows a significant effect between the series of whispering games on listening skills learning and student learning outcomes. Keywords:  Learning Listening Skills, Language Games, Whispering Chains

Abstract

Language sociologists propose some factors contributing to the choice of a language over the other. These factors include economic, social, political, educational, and demographic factors. Other language scientists mention religious, values and attitudinal factors. What is real choice is there for those who use lesser-used script, such as Arabic script for Malay and Bahasa Indonesia, in a community where most people use a major national script, i.e. Latin script to write their language. How do economic, political, religious, educational, and demographic factors influence the choice of use of script for a language?

Abstract

Ambiguity (al-Ghumûdh) is the construction of words or sentences that have multiple meanings that sometimes cause confusion and misunderstanding in understanding and interpreting a sentence or idea. Ambiguity (al-Iltibâs) can occur at various linguistic levels or levels, namely: phonetic, lexical, and grammatical. The factors of ambiguity can be examined from the angle of lexicon, morphology, syntax, or structure. In Arabic, I'râb is one of the factors that cause ambiguity (al-Iltibâs) of meaning in the sentence (al-Jumlah). I'râb is one of the characteristics (al-Khashâ'ish) and uniqueness of the Arabic language which serves to eliminate ambiguity in the sentence (al-Jumlah). Keywords: Ambiguity, I'râb, Meaning

Abstract

In the digital age, music knows no geographical boundaries. Songs from various countries, including Arabic, can easily reach listeners around the world. An example is the songs of Sherine Abdel Wahab, a famous Egyptian singer whose works have gone viral on social media platforms, especially among TikTok users in Indonesia. This is because the millennial generation is now inclined to things that are going viral on social media, especially TikTok. For speakers of languages other than Arabic, especially Indonesian speakers, hearing Arabic songs is still an obstacle, especially enjoying the full meaning of these songs. Therefore, communicative translation of Arabic song lyrics is important to bridge the language and cultural differences. This study aims to find out the application of communicative methods and strategies used in translating the song "Shabry Aleel" popularized by Sherine Abdel Wahab. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive approach, focusing on the research of translating the song Shabry Aleel popularized by Sherine Abdel Wahab as the object of research. After translating the object of the data, academic accountability of the results of the translation is carried out by describing the methods and strategies used. The communicative method research on the translation of Shabry Aleel's song popularized by Sherine Abdel Wahab is very suitable, because in addition to paying attention to communicative principles, the resulting translation is also very easy to understand by the target readers. In addition to using the communicative method, the strategies used in this research include (taqdim and ta'khir) on the subject and predicate patterns of the target language, removing (hadzf) and replacing (tabdil) on the meaning of the translated words so that the results are easier to understand.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyse the framing of Arabic news media, namely Indonesia Al Youm and Aswaq Malaysia, regarding restrictions on religious activities during the pandemic. This qualitative research uses primary data on religious practices during COVID-19 in Indonesia Al-Youm and Aswaq Malaysia. In analysing framing media from Arabic newspapers, the paper proposed the theoretical concept of framing media by Pan and Kosicki. This paper found that Indonesia al-Youm's news related to restrictions on religious activities during COVID-19 is minimal. Therefore, media framing is limited and does not represent the media's ideology in reporting restrictions on religious activities. On the contrary, Aswaq Malaysia can provide detailed media framing regarding restrictions on religious activities during the pandemic. This is because the Malaysian government has gradually issued regulations on religious activity restrictions for each state in the Malaysian region. However, Aswaq's news framing regarding restrictions on religious activities sounds neutral and does not contain any expressive elements to attack certain parties.

Abstract

Abstract The aim of Arabic language education is to help students master language skills and foster positive changes in their attitudes and behaviors. The success of teaching can be measured through the improvement in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Writing, particularly Insya (composition), is often viewed as challenging for non-native speakers and requires detailed study to achieve proficiency. Errors in written Arabic, especially in grammar and spelling, are often judged more critically than oral mistakes. This research investigates linguistic errors in the Insya of fifth-grade students at Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Boarding School Campus 1. Using a linguistic taxonomy model, errors were classified in areas like phonology, syntax, morphology, and semantics. Five major types of errors were identified, including adjective-noun agreement, diacritical marks, and the use of direct objects. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach, using student compositions as data, and emphasized the need to address these errors to improve students' Arabic writing proficiency. Abstract

This study aims to explain Kumaravadivelu's epistemology in transforming Arabic language learning through postmethod and beyond-method approaches. The research method used is a literature study, which involves analyzing Kumaravadivelu's works as well as other related research in this field. The analysis shows that with Kumaravadivelu's epistemology of postmethod (including postmethod conditions, postmethod pedagogy and postmethod praxis) and beyond method (including macrostrategies and microstrategies), Arabic language learning can be transformed to be more responsive and adaptive to students' needs and local contexts. Postmethod encourages teachers to be reflective and innovative practitioners, while the Beyond Method framework provides macrostrategy guidelines that allow for flexible and contextualized application. This transformation not only enhances the effectiveness of Arabic language teaching but also empowers students as independent, critical and free learners. This transformation marks a paradigmatic shift from a static approach to Arabic language teaching towards a more contextualized, practical and possibility-oriented approach.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the independent approach to Arabic language learning in Indonesia using the theoretical perspective of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). CEFR provides as an international frame of reference language proficiency standards that are regulated on the basis of proficiency levels, ranging from beginner to advanced. This analysis focuses on the alignment between learning outcomes (CP) in the independent curriculum and CEFR standards. This research approach uses a qualitative and descriptive approach, with data collection techniques through documentation and analysis techniques, i.e. content analysis. The results of the study showed that the independent curriculum is consistent with CEFR in the progressive development of receptive and productive language skills. In the A-F phase, there are levels from A1 to B2 when analyzed using the CEFR theorem. This result is expected to be a reference for policymakers in improving curricula to be globally competitive.
