Abstract

This study examines Islamic monetary policy from the perspective of Islamic economic education, focusing on its implications for economic stability, wealth distribution, and the prohibition of interest (riba). The central aim of this research is to explore how Sharia-compliant monetary policies, which emphasize justice, equity, and the use of profit-sharing instruments such as mudarabah, musyarakah, and ijarah, can contribute to reducing inequality and fostering long-term economic growth. A qualitative approach was adopted, using a systematic literature review to analyze the impact of these policies within Islamic economic education. The literature review encompassed articles published between 2019 and 2024, with a particular focus on studies that discuss the application of Sharia-compliant financial instruments in various global contexts. The findings reveal that Sharia-compliant monetary policies have the potential to stabilize economies by ensuring fair distribution of wealth, promoting social justice, and offering an alternative to the interest-based financial systems that dominate conventional economies. However, challenges remain in the broader adoption of these systems due to the lack of infrastructure and the resistance of conventional financial institutions. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing insights into the integration of Islamic monetary policy into modern economic education and offering a comprehensive review of the principles, strengths, and challenges of Sharia-compliant financial systems.

Abstract

This study examines the role of marriage agreements in promoting family welfare within the framework of Maqasid Syari'ah. The research aims to explore how these agreements protect spousal rights, ensure fairness in wealth distribution, and enhance emotional and psychological security, contributing to marital harmony and family stability. Using a qualitative library research method, the study analyzes relevant legal texts, Islamic family law, and existing scholarly literature on marriage agreements. The findings indicate that marriage agreements, when aligned with Maqasid Syari'ah, effectively safeguard the rights of both spouses, promote financial fairness, and foster emotional security by setting clear expectations and responsibilities. The study also highlights the role of marriage agreements in preventing conflicts and ensuring long-term family welfare by providing a structure for conflict resolution and mutual respect. This research contributes to the understanding of how Maqasid Syari'ah principles can be applied to modern marital dynamics, offering a practical framework for improving marital stability and promoting gender equality within the family. The study suggests that marriage agreements should be encouraged as a proactive tool for reducing marital disputes and ensuring equitable relationships in line with Islamic values.

Abstract

Human Resource Management (HRM) plays a strategic role in improving teacher performance, particularly in Islamic educational institutions that face complex managerial and contextual challenges. This study aims to analyze the implementation of human resource management in enhancing teacher performance and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing its effectiveness in private Madrasah Aliyah. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research was conducted in three private Islamic senior high schools in Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed thematically to capture patterns of HRM practices and teacher performance dynamics. The findings reveal that HRM implementation in the studied madrasahs has been carried out through structured planning, competency-based teacher development, performance evaluation, and the optimization of institutional programs. Leadership of the madrasah principals, support from professional organizations, community involvement, and the availability of basic infrastructure emerged as key supporting factors. Conversely, limited teacher competencies, inadequate facilities, and weak coordination with external stakeholders were identified as major inhibiting factors. Despite these constraints, HRM practices have contributed positively to improving teacher discipline, instructional quality, and professional commitment. This study concludes that effective human resource management significantly enhances teacher performance in private Islamic senior high schools, although continuous capacity building and institutional support remain essential for sustainable improvement. The findings offer practical implications for educational leaders and policymakers in strengthening HRM strategies within Islamic education contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the Sorogan method as a differentiated Qur’anic learning strategy to enhance Qur’anic reading fluency among eighth-grade students in a public madrasah. Sorogan is an individualized recitation approach in which students read Qur’anic verses directly to the teacher and receive immediate and specific corrective feedback on makhraj articulation and tajwid application. Employing a qualitative descriptive design, the study involved one Qur’an Hadith teacher and 29 students. Data were collected through classroom observations, open-ended interviews, and analysis of instructional documentation over a six-week period. The findings indicate that the Sorogan method supported improvements in reading continuity, accuracy of makhraj articulation, and consistency in applying basic tajwid rules, particularly among students with lower initial fluency. The four initially less-fluent students demonstrated reduced hesitation and fewer recurring pronunciation errors following repeated individualized recitation sessions. In addition to its corrective function, the method enabled the teacher to diagnose specific reading difficulties and provide targeted remedial guidance. Challenges related to limited instructional time and students’ initial lack of confidence were addressed through rotational scheduling and supportive feedback strategies. The study contributes to Qur’anic pedagogy by reconceptualizing Sorogan as a process-based differentiated instructional strategy and a form of formative micro-assessment applicable in formal secondary education settings. Practically, the findings suggest that short and structured Sorogan sessions can be integrated alongside classical instruction to accommodate heterogeneous fluency levels. Future research should employ quantitative or mixed-method approaches using standardized Qur’anic fluency measures and explore implementation across broader educational contexts.

Abstract

This study investigates the implications of judicial decisions on child custody post-divorce in the Religious Court of Pekanbaru, Indonesia, through an analysis of five selected cases. Using a juridical-sociological approach, the research examines how Islamic legal principles and socio-cultural factors influence child custody rulings, particularly focusing on the principle of the best interest of the child. The findings reveal that judges prioritize emotional stability, favoring mothers as custodians for younger children, and take into account socio-cultural factors such as traditional gender roles in determining custody. Practical challenges in implementing these decisions, particularly concerning child support and visitation rights, are also highlighted. Through document analysis, interviews, and observations, this study identifies the gap between legal rulings and their real-world application, emphasizing the need for stronger enforcement mechanisms. The research contributes to the understanding of child custody decisions within the framework of Islamic family law and offers implications for improving child welfare practices, especially in post-divorce contexts. This study provides valuable insights into the intersection of Islamic law, socio-cultural factors, and child welfare, contributing to the academic discourse on child custody in Islamic legal systems.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of online gambling on the resilience of Muslim families, with a particular focus on the Riau region of Indonesia, through the lens of Islamic law. The rapid growth of online gambling, driven by the accessibility and anonymity provided by digital technologies, has become a pressing concern for many families. This research explores how online gambling undermines family stability, contributing to financial distress, psychological stress, and familial conflict. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the study collects data through semi structured interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and document analysis from families affected by gambling, religious leaders, and law enforcement officials. Findings indicate that online gambling not only leads to significant financial losses, often resulting in the sale of personal assets and accruing debt, but also fosters emotional neglect and psychological turmoil within families. Moreover, the lack of legal enforcement against digital gambling exacerbates the issue, as international gambling platforms evade local jurisdiction. From an Islamic perspective, the study emphasizes the prohibition of gambling (maisir) in Islam and the importance of preserving family integrity, wealth, and mental health. The research suggests that Islamic education systems, particularly madrasahs and pesantren, play a vital role in preventing gambling addiction by promoting digital literacy, ethical decision making, and family values. The findings align with the objectives of maqāṣid al sharī‘ah the preservation of family unity, wealth, and mental well-being highlighting the need for integrated solutions combining legal, educational, and community-based interventions. This study contributes to the broader discourse on sustainable development, particularly in relation to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by providing a comprehensive framework for addressing the rising threat of online gambling in Muslim communities.

Abstract

As a triadic ethical vocabulary in Islamic family thought, sakinah functions as the telos of marital calm and psychological safety, mawaddah as the affective–commitment dimension of enduring love, and rahmah as the moral–empathic capacity for mercy that enables reconciliation, resilience, and mutual flourishing. This study interrogates how this spiritual–emotional architecture constitutes the substantive core of Islamic marriage beyond its formal-legal contract and clarifies how it may be operationalised to strengthen family sustainability in contemporary settings. Using a library-research design, the article undertakes systematic documentary analysis of primary Islamic sources (the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical fiqh on munākaḥāt) alongside selected contemporary scholarship on marital psychology; the materials are analysed through a descriptive–analytical strategy and a comparative–critical reading that bridges Islamic normative reasoning with relational-psychological constructs (e.g., attachment and emotional intelligence). The synthesis indicates that sakinah–mawaddah–rahmah provides a coherent normative framework for sustaining intimacy, ethical communication, and reconciliation-oriented conflict management, thereby supporting couple resilience over time. At the same time, the analysis identifies a persistent gap between normative ideals and lived marital dynamics, particularly the gendered distribution of emotional and spiritual labour that can undermine relational equity and long-term stability when unaddressed. This study contributes an interdisciplinary conceptual framework integrating Islamic family jurisprudence, marital psychology, and gender-sensitive analysis to inform more relationally grounded premarital education, marital counselling, and policy-oriented discussions on family well-being.

Abstract

Islamic inheritance law, derived from the Qur'an and Sunnah, ensures a just distribution of wealth among heirs. However, the practical application of this law can be complicated by cultural norms and emotional dynamics within families. This study explores the integration of the Law of Attraction (LoA) concept in resolving inheritance disputes within the framework of Islamic law, particularly through the analysis of Supreme Court Decision No. 1239 K/Ag/2023 in Indonesia. The decision recognized the role of positive intentions and collective agreements among heirs, influenced by LoA principles, in achieving an equitable distribution of inheritance. By examining the interplay between LoA and Islamic inheritance law, this research highlights the potential for non-conventional approaches to contribute to more harmonious and just outcomes in legal disputes. The study finds that while LoA is not explicitly part of classical Islamic jurisprudence, its application in this context aligns with the principles of justice, fairness, and non-harm in Islamic law. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic legal reforms and suggests that integrating psychological and emotional dimensions into legal processes can enhance social justice and inclusivity, particularly in inheritance matters. The implications for Islamic legal education and the potential alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 16) are also discussed, offering a new perspective on legal innovation and dispute resolution.

Abstract

This study examines how strategic management of facilities, infrastructure, and educational financing contributes to institutional productivity in pesantren-based vocational high schools (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan/SMKs) in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative multiple-case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis across three pesantren-based SMKs. The analysis followed an interactive model involving data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that although existing facilities and infrastructure are generally adequate to support vocational learning, significant gaps remain, particularly in student practice rooms and industry-aligned equipment. Strategic facilities management is implemented through data-driven planning, prioritization based on institutional needs, diversification of funding sources, and efficient utilization of resources. Educational financing management emphasizes transparency, accountability, equity, and partnerships, complemented by the integration of Islamic social funding instruments such as zakat and infaq. These integrated management practices positively influence institutional productivity, reflected in improved educational input–output quality, service efficiency, organizational innovation, and stakeholder trust. The novelty of this study lies in proposing an integrated framework that combines facilities management and educational financing within the perspective of Islamic educational management, offering empirical insights into faith-based vocational education contexts that remain underexplored in international literature.
