Abstract

Background: Mental health is a part that is related to health and wellness. One of the indicators in Gerakan Masyarakat (GERMAS) [”society movement”] stated that people with mental disorders should be treated and not abandoned. Nevertheless, nowadays it is still common to find people with mental disorders that do not receive proper medical care. Aims: The aim of this research is to measure cues to action and self-efficacy of the family behavior in seeking treatment for people with mental disorders within the work area of the Public Health Centre Taman Sidoarjo. Method: This research utilized the observational method with the cross-sectional study design and was analyzed with the Health Belief Model (HBM) theory approach. Result: The statistical analysis results using the Pearson Chi-Square test with a significance level of < 0.05 showed a p-value of 0.034 for perceived susceptibility and severity, a p-value of 0.180 for perceived threat, a p-value of 0.009 for perceived benefit, a p-value of 0.696 for perceived barriers, a p-value of 0.555 for self-efficacy, and p-value of 0.099 for cues to action. Based on these results, it can be concluded that perceived susceptibility and severity have a positive relationship with the family behavior in seeking treatment, which means the more perceived susceptibility, and severity increase, the more the family behavior in seeking treatment for people with mental disorders increases. Conclusion: Likewise, perceived benefit has a positive relationship with the family's behavior in seeking treatment. However, perceived threat, perceived barriers, self-efficacy, and cues to action have no relationship with the family behavior in seeking treatment for people with mental disorders.

Abstract

Background: Non-communicable diseases are one of the groups of diseases with the highest causes of death in the world. This was shown by data from WHO that in 2023, around 74 percent of the causes of death in the world are non-communicable diseases that kill 41 million people per year. This is due to the lack of public understanding of the influence of risk factors for non-communicable diseases on the incidence of non-communicable diseases and complications that can be caused by non-communicable diseases. Therefore, the use of traditional Indonesian fairy tale symbols in health promotion media to prevent non-communicable diseases can be used as an alternative solution to overcoming this challenge. Aims: This study aims to identify, examine, and synthesize symbols in traditional Indonesian fairy tales that have the potential to they can be developed to improve health messages to prevent noncommunicable diseases, especially diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Method: The method used in this study was a Literature Review with a narrative review study design. The steps taken are to gather all the fairy tales with inclusion criteria are fairy tales that have symbols about non-communicable diseases and exclusion criteria are incomplete fairy tales, and then do the screening, identifying symbols, analyzing symbols, and selecting potential symbols. Results: Of the 21 relevant titles of Indonesian traditional fairy tales and legends, 85 symbols were identified. From the analysis of the meaning of each symbol, 16 symbols were found that have the potential to be used as promotions for the prevention of non-communicable diseases, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension, with 10 different symbol categories spread across 7 provinces in Indonesia. Conclusion: There are many symbols from traditional Indonesian fairy tales that have the potential to they can be used to increase the effectiveness of delivering health messages as an effort to promote the prevention of non-communicable diseases diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Abstract

Background: Globalization is a double-edged sword since it improves human efficiency and effectiveness along with the development of technology. However, the negative impacts of globalization hit developing countries hard, such as the fading of traditional culture and people's tendency to be dependent on  developed countries, or people imitate the negative behavior of those living in developed countries. Aims: This paper conceptualizes premarital sex behavior, which is a problem in the social environment that occurs in Indonesian society and generally in Islamic countries. The author will reveal sexual problems experienced by adolescents in terms of social phenomena in modern times. In addition, the impact of adolescent sexual behavior before marriage will also be discussed in this article, both in social, cultural, and religious settings. The author also offers alternative solutions to prevent premarital sex behavior in adolescents by looking at the role of the family, social environment, and educational institutions. Method: We use the Theory of Planned Behavior and Social Learning Theory approaches to explore the direction of adolescent behavior in making decisions. Results: As a result, our model can contribute to future research to research adolescent premarital sex behavior, especially in countries affected by globalization. In addition, we also offer a research model by formulating several propositions that will be a guide for further research. Conclusion: Globalization is very influential and we feel it in everyday life. Conditions such as promiscuity, negative internet, premarital sex, etc. can be found in social life. This condition cannot be avoided, which is something that should happen and needs to be addressed wisely by the whole community, especially parents who have teenage children. Several alternatives are offered to overcome this problem, among others, through educational institutions, the role of the family, and the social environment. These three factors are an alternative to preventing adolescent associations that lead to premarital sex.

Abstract

Background: When a child is diagnosed with cancer, parents are affected, especially if they are unprepared and do not understand the illness. Parents' informational needs are frequently expressed and vary, so identifying parent needs is critical before providing health or nursing interventions. Aims: This review aimed to identify the information needs of parents of children with cancer. Method: PubMed, Medline, and CINAHL were applied to conduct electronic searches. The terms "information needs”, "parent”, "cancer”, and "child” were combined using Boolean expressions "OR” and "AND”. The inclusion criteria were non-experimental studies published in English within the last 10 years (2011-2021). A risk of bias assessment was conducted for each included study using the Joanna Bridge Institute critical appraisal tools. After identification and screening, the articles were filtered according to the criteria with a total of 15 articles included in this study. Furthermore, data extraction and synthesis were carried out. Narrative synthesis is used by collecting information on the findings of the article to be grouped into themes of finding problems. Results: Four themes emerged based on the results of the analysis: types of information needed; information formats; provision of information; and sources of information. Conclusion: This study concluded that parents require accurate information that addresses their specific information needs and is appropriate for their child's cancer stage. The provision of balanced written and verbal information, as well as information that is complete, accurate, and reliable, makes it easier for parents to increase their knowledge about caring for their children.
