Abstract

Arabic language teachers have significant roles and challenges in internalizing character values through Arabic language learning. Teachers are responsible for teaching vocabulary and grammar and must also be able to convey character education values. This research aims to determine the concrete form of internalizing character education values through the Arabic language learning process at Ulumuddin Islamic Boarding School in Lhokseumawe, Aceh. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research design. The data sources include observations during the Arabic language learning and interviews with teachers and students at Ulumuddin Islamic Boarding School in Lhokseumawe, Aceh. The data analysis follows Miles and Huberman's approach, involving data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion. The research findings indicate that the concrete form of internalizing character education values through Arabic language learning encompasses planning, implementation, and evaluation of the learning process. In practice, teachers use interactive, collaborative, and applicative teaching methods, enabling students to not only master the Arabic language but also develop positive character values. The internalization of character education values through Arabic language learning can contribute to shaping a generation that is not only intellectually smart but also possesses character values, following the requirements of the Aceh Regulation of 2022 to strengthen the implementation of Islamic character education.

Abstract

Until recently, few educational institutions have developed and integrated Arabic language learning curricula with LMS. This study aims to develop a proposed Learning Management System (LMS) program designed to enhance the Arabic proficiency of non-native speakers. It investigates the impact of this program on cognitive fulfilment and language advancement among non-native Arabic learners at the University of Darussalam Gontor, Indonesia. The researcher utilized a quasi-experimental and descriptive research approach, deemed most suitable for this study's nature. Data collection involved 80 students from the University of Darussalam Gontor, employing various tools such as tests, questionnaires, interviews, and observation. The study yielded significant outcomes, including creating the proposed LMS, arabi.id. After completing the research, statistically significant improvements were observed in the experimental and control groups' listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities, with a more substantial positive impact on the experimental group. Moreover, the experimental group's pretest and post-test results showed statistically significant differences in proficiency levels (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). The study's findings suggest that non-native Arabic speakers can benefit from e-learning courses to enhance their language skills. Recommendations include implementing LMS-based Arabic instruction, encouraging instructors to integrate LMS into the Arabic teaching curriculum, and increasing the availability of Arabic educational websites.

Abstract

The innovative curriculum is designed to better adapt to the needs of the working world and technological developments. This ensures that students not only acquire theoretical knowledge, but also the practical skills needed to succeed in their careers. It turns out that not all students understand the concept of the Independent Learning-Campus Independent Curriculum (innovative curriculum). On the other hand, students are not involved in the curriculum development process. This paper aims to describe student preparation in implementing an innovative curriculum, and reveal the impact of implementing an innovative curriculum. This type of research is qualitative research with a survey approach. The population of this study are students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya who have used an innovative curriculum. The sample was drawn using purposive sampling technique. The instrument is a questionnaire that has been validated by two education experts. The conclusion of this study shows that students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya have shown good readiness to implement an innovative curriculum. The research findings revealed that students felt an increase in their soft skills and hard skills. That is in the form of Arabic communication skills and the ability to master Arabic grammar, vocabulary, and Arabic sentence structure. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of higher education curriculum that the implementation of innovative curriculum effectively improves students' soft skills and hard skills.

Abstract

While numerous studies have established the roles of metacognitive awareness and self-efficacy in foreign and second language teaching and learning, research specifically focusing on Arabic language acquisition in this context remains limited. This study aims to examine the metacognitive awareness and self-efficacy of Arabic language learners at Universitas Islam Tribakti Lirboyo Kediri. The participants in this study consisted of 72 Arabic learners. To collect data, two types of instruments were used: the Junior Metacognitive Inventory and the Self-Efficacy Questionnaire for Language Learning Strategies. The collected data were analyzed statistically by calculating the percentages of students based on their levels of metacognitive awareness and self-efficacy. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was employed to assess the normality of the data, while the Levene test was used to check for homogeneity. A t-test was conducted to analyze the significance of the differences in metacognitive awareness and self-efficacy between male and female learners. The results indicated that the metacognitive awareness of the Arabic learners varied across different levels, both in terms of cognitive knowledge (very good, good, fair, poor) and in the regulation of cognition (very good, good, fair). There was a significant difference between male and female learners in the regulation of cognition, while no significant difference was found regarding knowledge of cognition. Additionally, the Arabic learners exhibited varying levels of self-efficacy, including competence, confidence, and comfort; however, the difference between male and female learners in this area was not significant.

Abstract

Technology integration in education is becoming increasingly important in the ever-evolving digital era. Using technology as a medium to teach students will increase the competence of educators in teaching Arabic. On the other hand, technology is expected to dilute differences in learning styles, students' ability levels, distance limitations, time, and various other learning problems that are always a scourge for educators, especially Arabic-speaking educators. This study aims to determine the relevance of computer science and Arabic language learning technology in supporting Arabic language learning from the perspective of Israel Scheffler. The type of research used uses qualitative research with a case study approach. The data sample used was a lecturer majoring in Arabic Language Education, with data collection techniques using in-depth interview techniques and documentation. The data analysis technique uses three stages: displaying data, reducing data, and drawing conclusions. The study results show the importance of integrating computer science and digital technology in learning Arabic from the perspective of Israel Scheffler, who emphasizes the importance of critical and analytical thinking skills.
