Abstract

People have lost their jobs as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and many people are now living in poverty. Zakat is one of the Islamic pillars concerned with poverty reduction, particularly in the form of productive disbursement. The purpose of this research is to identify and assess the mechanisms and contributions of productive zakat to economic empowerment mustahik during the covid-19 pandemics. Zakat for productive purposes is wealth that enables the recipient to continuously create creativity using zakat funds. This study conducted in-depth interviews with three Zakat institution staff and seven mustahik who live in a low-income society and are economically impacted by covid-19. This study used the descriptive method, with data retrieval in this study using the interview method, followed by data analysis in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. According to the findings of this study, there are still a limited number of Human Resources available for mustahik coaching and supervision at LAZISMU Pemalang. This paper discovered that not all mustahik use 100 percent of productive zakat funds to develop the business as hoped, but instead meet basic needs. Mustahik primarily requires more fulfillment with short-term benefits in order to sustain their lives.

Abstract

There are only few numbers of Islamic Economic Law program graduates that have been absorbed as industry practitioners. One of main focus for educational providers is the inadequate curriculum to support its graduates to get involved at any legal profession. Various studies related to the involvement of industry practitioners in curriculum development that are able to increase the absorption of alumni as practitioners are important starting points. This study seeks to solve problems related to what courses are required in a curriculum in order to be able to equip alumni with sufficient competencies. By using the ANP method which requires an industry expert as a respondent, we try to solve this problem. The number of respondents whose opinions were extracted was 10 consisting of practitioners of the legal profession, Islamic financial institutions and professional associations. The results of this study indicate that Legal Competence is the main highlight of the experts. Then Basic Arabic, Financial Statement Analysis, Fatwa Studies, Arbitration and Professional Ethics in the Law became the most important focus for additional courses outside the competencies agreed upon by the entire campus. As for the graduate profile, the most relevant based on the courses offered is Judges. Finally, the development that needs to be done to produce these graduates is Class Lectures.

Abstract

Waqf management is an important part in determining the economic progress of the people, including in a Muhammadiyah community organization. However, research related to waqf in Muhammadiyah is still smallThe purpose of this research is to find out the management of productive waqf in the Muhammadiyah Surakarta City Waqf and Assets Regional Leadership Council and to find out the obstacles experienced by the Surakarta City Muhammadiyah Regional Waqf and Asset Management Council in carrying out productive waqf activities. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The types of data used are primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through interviews with three parties to the Surakarta City Waqf Welfare Council, two waqifs, and four waqf building administrators. The results of this study indicate that the management of productive waqf at the PDM Waqf Property Council of Surakarta City has been running according to the terms and pillars specified. According to Islamic law, the waqf process at the time of the contract for the transfer of waqf property is also carried out, namely by bringing two witnesses, reading the waqf pledge guided by PPAIW. The last stage is the issuance of waqf certificates as property belonging to the association. However, in this study, it was found that the obstacles experienced by the Waqf Wealth Council of PDM Surakarta City were the lack of public understanding of productive waqf so that it could cause waqf activities to run less than optimally. Another obstacle is financial problems because finance has an essential role in carrying out waqf activities. This study can be a reference for waqf institutions to prepare long-term strategies to deal with these obstacles.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the productive zakat program between Baznas Surakarta City and Lazismu Surakarta City and to study the disadvantages and advantages of these zakat institutions in distributing productive zakat. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Sources of data obtained by in-depth interviews with representatives of zakat and mustahik institutions. Sources of data obtained through literature related to productive zakat. The results of this study indicate that Baznas and Lazismu Surakarta City have differences between the distribution of productive zakat; mustahik criteria; muzakki criteria; zakat fund collection; distribution of zakat funds: and assistance to mustahik. The types of assistance given to the mustahik are both in the form of business capital and means of production. The productive zakat program run by the two zakat institutions has been very effective in helping and increasing the income of the previous mustahik, and some mustahik have become hypocrites. The difference between the two zakat institutions is based on the background of the establishment and the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of zakat institutions, so that it becomes the hallmark of the two institutions in the practice of productive zakat funds to mustahik; become a reference for muzakki to distribute their zakat; and guide mustahiks to choose zakat institutions that are suitable for their business.
