Abstract

We consider a mathematical model of cervical cancer based on the Natural History of Cervical Cancer. The model is a five dimensional system of the first order of ordinary differential equations that represents the interaction between the free Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) population and four cells sub-populations, i.e., the normal cells, infected cells by HPV, precancerous cells, and cancer cells. We focus our analysis to determine the existence conditions of the nontrivial equilibrium point, the bifurcations, and the sensitivity of the parameters that play important roles in metastasis. Based on the basic reproduction ratio of the system, we found that the infection rate, the new viruses production rate, the free viruses death rate, the infected cells growth rate, and the precancerous cells progression rate play important roles for the cancer spreads in the cellular level. By applying sensitivity and numerical bifurcation analysis, we found that there are some important bifurcations that trigger some irregular behaviours of the system, i.e., fold, Hopf, cusp and Bogdanov-Takens.

Abstract

Sumurrejo, Gunungpati, is one of the fostered villages of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty, Universitas Negeri Semarang, which is located about 8 kilometers from the Unnes Sekaran Campus. This village has several potentials, including UMKM for making tempeh which have been fostered by FMIPA for the last three years. This village is geographically quite strategic because it is traversed by inter-district roads which are quite busy. Seeing the potential and current technological changes, UMKM in Sumurrejo can continue to be developed through digital media. One of the solutions offered by the FMIPA Unnes community service team is through digital marketing socialization and training on the creation and management of online stores. In this activity, socialization was carried out to all UMKM owners in Sumurrejo, as well as training on the creation of an online store for youth organizations in Sumurrejo. The online shop managed by youth organizations is expected to be able to become a job for local youth and help marketing UMKM products in Sumurrejo.

Abstract

This study focused on analyzing the¬  mathematical  creative  thinking  abilities of high school students  in solving  mathematical problems. The method used was a descriptive qualitative approach involving 34 grade 10 students  in  one of the schools in Cirebon Regency. Data collection techniques were carried out through tests, observations, and  interviews. The  data  obtained  were  analyzed  using  data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research findings showed  that overall students were in the medium category that met the indicators of fluency, originality, and elaboration. Only 1 student was in the  high category, 30 students were in the medium category,   and 3 students  were in the low  category. The dominance of the medium  category was caused by students' limitations in developing alternative solution strategies. The indicator with the highest average was fluency, while the lowest indicator was flexibility. These findings indicate that students are quite capable of generating ideas, but still lack flexibility in using problem  solving strategies. Therefore, this ability needs  to  be improved so  that  students can solve problems with  various solutions  and meet the demands of 21st  century learning.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The importance of critical mathematical thinking skills in mathematics learning in the current era of the industrial revolution and globalization has encouraged research to evaluate the impact of learning models, one of which is the inquiry model, on students' critical mathematical thinking skills. Methodology: This meta-analysis review was conducted using the stages of data collection, literature review using PRISMA, statistical analysis, qualitative study, and conclusions. Data were collected through national and international journals and proceedings indexed by Sinta or Scopus to make the information obtained more credible. This study uses the PRISMA framework with the steps identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion to help transparency, consistency, and completeness of reporting the results of the meta-analysis review. Main Findings: Based on the research results, inquiry learning significantly influences students' critical mathematical thinking skills. This is evidenced by increased motivation, curiosity, and student involvement in learning. However, this finding requires follow-up in the future, for example, the development of innovations in textbook learning in the form of textbooks or other learning media. Novelty/Originality of this study: The study analysis of the process of students' critical mathematical thinking skills towards the inquiry learning model in this study was conducted by citing various cross-disciplinary studies and studies from multiple countries or regions to balance more detailed analysis perspectives globally.

Abstract

MODELING OF SLOPE SAFETY FACTORS BASED ON RAINFALL AND SLOPE SIDE IN SOUTH SUMEDANG DISTRICT Sumedang Selatan Subdistrict is one of the subdistricts in Sumedang Regency, West Java, which has had many landslide incidents. This is the main reason for the need for landslide disaster mitigation. The first step in landslide disaster mitigation is mathematical modeling as an early warning system. This study aims to model the mathematical equation for the slope safety factor (FK) in Sumedang Selatan Subdistrict based on rainfall data and slope inclination. The mathematical equation used is the Bowles 1996 slope safety factor (FK) equation. The data used are daily rainfall data from 2024 and slope inclination data (DEMNAS) from 2021. The results obtained are graphs of rainfall (P) and slope inclination (θ) against the slope safety factor (FK). The critical point was identified at a daily rainfall of 110 mm and a slope inclination 35°. Rainfall and slope inclination have a negative correlation with the slope safety factor.

Abstract

Numerous studies on self-efficacy and students’ mathematical representation skills have been conducted; however, the results remain inconsistent, and thus no general conclusion has been reached regarding a significant relationship between these two variables. Given this situation, this study aims to analyze the effect of self-efficacy on students’ mathematical representation skills at the junior high school level. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey design. The research subjects were students at State Junior High School 24 in Semarang, selected using purposive sampling; as a result, Class VIII H, consisting of 30 students, was chosen as the research sample. Data collection was conducted using a self-efficacy questionnaire comprising 25 statements and a mathematical representation ability test consisting of three essay-type questions. Statistical analysis results indicate a significant relationship between self-efficacy and mathematical representation skills, classified as a moderate correlation. Furthermore, self-efficacy was found to have a significant positive influence, leading to the conclusion that it is one of the key factors influencing students’ mathematical representation skills.
