Abstract

Nutritional status is a state of the body that is influenced by consumption, and eating habits. One of the most important factors in determining a person's health status is their nutritional status. Studies show that adolescents, especially in Islamic boarding schools, are at risk of experiencing nutritional problems due to unbalanced diets, lack of physical activity, and minimal awareness of the importance of monitoring nutritional status. In addition, the culture of eating together, lack of access to health information, and limited health facilities in Islamic boarding schools also worsen this situation. The lack of monitoring of adolescent nutritional status in the long term can have an impact on learning productivity, decreased immunity, and the risk of non-communicable diseases at an early age. The purpose of this Community Service is to empower adolescents at the Al Hidayah Islamic Boarding School in Jambi City to carry out early detection of nutritional status, so that obesity can be prevented. This activity was carried out at the Al Hidayah Islamic Boarding School, Jambi City. There were 13 community service participants, with the FGD method and guidance. The results of the community service were the formation of ORSADA Cadres, there was an increase in the knowledge of adolescent girls after being given health education about detecting nutritional status to prevent obesity. Cadres It is hoped that with ongoing mentoring, ORSADA cadres will be able to encourage the formation of a healthy lifestyle culture and improve the nutritional status of adolescents as a whole at the Al Hidayah Islamic Boarding School.

The result of this activity is biscuits made from catfish and tempeh which are expected to be one of the nutritious food choices to overcome nutritional problems and encourage community self-reliance for initial small-scale production. Based on the results of the implementation of Community-Based Empowerment, the characteristics of respondents are known that of the 11 respondents, the majority are in late adulthood (45.4%), some respondents have a high school education (54.5%). Abstract

Background: Stunting is a chronic nutritional deficiency that affects physical growth, cognitive development, and children’s future independence. Prevention is most effective during the first two years of life, when most brain development occurs. A preliminary study in the working area of Putri Ayu Public Health Center (February 2024) identified 20 children with stunting. Weight loss was also observed in infants over six months due to adaptation from exclusive breastfeeding to complementary foods, although age-appropriate weight gain is expected. While the health center provides supplementary feeding, infant massage has not been utilized as an intervention to support weight gain and developmental stimulation. Infant massage may increase appetite, weight, and developmental progress, and egg consumption is known to improve weight and length in children. Objectives: To determine the effectiveness of infant massage combined with egg consumption on the growth and development of infants aged 6–12 months in preventing stunting. Methods: This quasi-experimental study involved 30 infants aged 6–12 months, divided into 15 infants in the intervention group and 15 in the control group. The intervention group received infant massage and one egg daily, while the control group received one daily egg. Growth and development were measured at baseline and after four weeks. Results: Paired t-tests showed significant differences (p-value<0.05) in weight and length before and after intervention in both groups. Wilcoxon tests indicated significant developmental improvement in the intervention group (p-value=0.004) and the control group (p-value=0.046). Conclusions: Infant massage combined with daily egg consumption is effective in improving growth and development among infants aged 6–12 months.

Abstract

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is collection of physical, psychological, and behavioral symptoms that occur before menstruation and can disrupt daily activities, especially in adolescent girls. Poor diet and low physical activity are two lifestyle factors that can trigger or worsen PMS symptoms. This study aims to determine the relationship between diet and physical activity with the incidence of PMS 10th grade female adolescents at SMK Fania Salsabila, Jambi City. The method used is quantitative study with crosssectional approach. Total 60 respondents were selected using proportional random sampling techniques from total population 120 female students. The study was conducted in May 2025. Data were collected using Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ), and Shortened Premenstrual Assessment Form (SPAF). Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The results of the study showed that the majority of respondents had poor eating patterns, namely 45 respondents (75.0%), low physical activity levels were 38 respondents (63.3%), and severe PMS symptoms were 29 respondents (48.3%). There was a significant relationship between eating patterns and the incidence of PMS (p < 0.05), as well as between physical activity and the incidence of PMS (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that adolescents with unhealthy eating patterns and low physical activity have higher risk of experiencing PMS with moderate to severe symptoms. This study recommends health education and school-based interventions regarding the importance of healthy lifestyle to prevent or reduce the impact of PMS on adolescents.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition where the hemoglobin (Hb) level in the blood is lower than normal. In general, the factors that cause anemia in young women are lack of knowledge regarding balanced nutritional intake patterns, restrictions on food consumption, and non-compliance with consuming blood supplement tablets (TTD). The aim of this research was to determine the effect of anemia education using monomia media (Monopoly Anemia) on the knowledge of female students at SMA Negeri 5 OKU. This type of research is quantitative research using the Pre-Experimental method with a One Group Pre Test and Post Test Design, collecting data by conducting pre-tests and post-tests and providing education with the monomia game (Monopoly Anemia). The total sample was 30 young women. Data analysis in the study used Univariate and Bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test to determine the effect of anemia education using monomia media (Monopoly Anemia) on the knowledge of female students at SMA Negeri 5 OKU. The research results showed that the average percentage of Pre-test knowledge was in the poor category, 17 female students (56.7%), while the average post-test knowledge was in the good category, 30 female students (100%). There was an effect of providing education using monomia (Monopoly Anemia) (p= 0.000). In this study it can be concluded that there was an increase in knowledge between the Pre Test and Post Test after being given education using monomia (Monopoly Anemia) to female students at SMA Negeri 5 OKU. It is recommended that teenagers increase their knowledge about anemia by seeking information on the prevention and control of anemia.
