Abstract

This study aims to develop, test the function, and evaluate the durability of a portable air sampling device based on an impinger system as a low-cost alternative to commercial air samplers, which are currently expensive and difficult to access for regional institutions. The device was designed using easily purchased components, including a lithium-ion battery, vacuum pump, rotameter, and an SNI-standard impinger tube. The tool was assembled in a workshop and tested for functionality, sampling stability, and battery endurance. A comparative test was conducted with a standard air sampler owned by Poltekkes Kemenkes Padang. The prototype demonstrated stable airflow at 0.5 L/min for up to 4 hours, outperforming some commercial tools in portability due to its integrated battery and solar-charging capability. Comparative sampling for SO₂, CO, and NO₂ showed no significant difference between the prototype and standard devices. The device is also significantly cheaper, costing under 7 million IDR compared to commercial units priced at 47–94 million IDR. This study concludes that the prototype is feasible for field sampling and suitable as an affordable alternative for air quality monitoring.

Abstract

Kata kunci: analisis data, e-modul, inovasi pembelajaran, SPSS, video tutorial _________________________________________________________________________________ Abstract Background: The limited availability of interactive digital learning media makes it difficult for Environmental Health students to understand the process of statistical data processing and analysis, especially in the use of data analysis software. This condition has an impact on the low level of student independence in completing data-based academic assignments. Objective: This community service activity aims to introduce digital learning media in the form of e-modules equipped with data analysis video tutorials as a means of supporting data analysis learning for Environmental Health students. Method: The activity was carried out through several stages, including identifying participant needs, developing e-modules and video tutorials on SPSS-based data analysis, practice-based training with mentoring, and evaluation using pre-test, post-test, skills observations, and participant feedback questionnaires. Result: The implementation of the activity showed that the developed e-modules and video tutorials were easy to use, in accordance with learning needs, helped students understand the stages of data analysis more systematically, and supported students to learn independently. Conclusion: The innovation of e-modules and video tutorials on data analysis is an applicable and effective digital learning media in supporting data analysis learning for Environmental Health students. Recommendation: This digital learning media is recommended to be integrated continuously into the learning process of courses and data processing. Keywords: data analysis, e-modules, learning innovation, SPSS, video tutorials

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) remains a highly prevalent communicable disease. In Koto Tangah Village, Tanah Datar Regency, 42 ARI cases were reported during the last three months based on data from Tanjung Emas Health Center in 2025. Environmental factors, particularly bedroom ventilation and air humidity, are suspected to contribute to ARI incidence. This study aimed to describe the ventilation and air humidity conditions of bedrooms occupied by ARI patients. A descriptive quantitative design was used with total sampling of 42 houses of ARI patients. Primary data were collected through direct measurements using a measuring tape and humidity meter, while secondary data were obtained from Tanjung Emas Health Center. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis. The results showed that 69.0% of bedrooms had inadequate ventilation (≤10% of floor area), and 81.0% had air humidity outside the recommended range of 40–60%. In conclusion, most bedrooms of ARI patients did not meet health standards, indicating the need to improve air circulation and maintain appropriate indoor humidity to reduce the risk of ARI.

Abstract

Waste management is an environmental issue that requires active community participation, including students as agents of change. One effective approach is the implementation of a Waste Bank, which not only reduces waste generation but also increases environmental awareness through the 3R practice. Good knowledge of waste management is believed to encourage more positive behavior, so this study aims to analyze the relationship between increased knowledge and waste management behavior among students majoring in Environmental Health at the Padang Ministry of Health Polytechnic. The study used a cross-sectional design with 140 students as samples through total sampling. Data were obtained using a questionnaire that was measured. knowledge before and after the educational intervention as well as waste management behavior. The analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that of the 78 students who experienced an increase in knowledge, 57 (73.1%) had good waste management behavior. Meanwhile, in the group of students whose knowledge level remained the same (62 students), only 35 people (56.5%) exhibited good behavior. This finding indicates that students who experienced an increase in knowledge tended to have better waste management behavior than those who did not experience any change in knowledge. The Chi-Square test showed a p-value of 0.040, which means there is a significant relationship between increased knowledge and waste management behavior. In conclusion, increased knowledge contributes positively to students' waste management behavior. It is recommended that educational institutions strengthen education and the practice of waste banks on an ongoing basis, as well as develop collaborative programs to raise environmental awareness.
