Abstract

Statistics is an important basic subject in data processing and analysis, especially for academic research. This course is the main foundation for students to develop analytical skills to produce quality research. This research evaluates the contribution of statistics courses to the quality of final year student research at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. The method used is quantitative with descriptive statistical analysis to see the relationship between mastery of statistics and research quality. Data was obtained through a questionnaire. The analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive with statistical tests. The results show a significant positive correlation between mastery of statistics and research quality, especially in preparation of proposals, data analysis, and interpretation of results. Students with a good understanding of statistics tend to produce higher quality research. These findings emphasize the importance of quality statistics learning to increase student research success through enriching material and data analysis practices.

Abstract

Educational tools are very important to be implemented in the learning process. This is because educational tools can increase students' learning motivation so that learning is more meaningful, innovative and creative. However, the reality in the field is that when the learning process is in the classroom, teachers do not use learning media such as educational tools. This results in low student interest in learning mathematics, which also makes students' mathematical abilities low. Therefore, the community service team carried out community service activities regarding the use of educational tools in classroom learning. This community service activity aims to increase students' interest in learning and also their mathematical abilities. This community service activity was carried out at MIS Nurul Hidayah Medan. Participants in this activity were grade IV students consisting of 32 students. This activity was carried out on May 7, 2025. The methods used in this community service activity were preparation and planning, implementation and evaluation. The results of this community service activity were that students were more interested and enthusiastic in using educational tools with picture cards (flash cards) and there was an increase in students' mathematical abilities after using the educational tool.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of product quality on consumer decisions using wood packaging material services at Carsurindo Siperkasa Medan to assess the impact of product innovation on consumer decisions using wood packaging material services at PT. Carsurindo Siperkasa Medan determines the effect of product quality and product innovation on consumer decisions to use wood packaging material services at PT. Carsurindo Siperkasa Medan. The analysis technique used in this study uses quantitative data analysis techniques, namely testing and analysing data. The respondents in the study were 45 people. From the results of this study, it was obtained the significance value of the product quality variable (X1) on the consumer purchasing decision variable (Y) based on the t-test was obtained at t count > t table (8.212) > (2.018), (Sig 0.001 < α0.05) thus H1 accepted and H0 is rejected, the conclusion: there is a significant effect of product quality (X1) on consumer purchasing decisions (Y). The significance value of the product innovation variable (X2) on the consumer purchasing decision variable (Y) based on the t-test obtained t count > t table (3.970) > (2.018), (Sig 0.001 <α0.05), thus H2 is accepted, and H0 is rejected, in conclusion. There is a significant influence of product innovation (X2) on consumer purchasing decisions (Y). Therefore the results of this study state that the two independent variables support the hypothesis. Based on the results of the F test, it was obtained that the F count > F table was (34.068 > 3.21), (Sig 0.001 <α0.05); thus, H3 was accepted, and H0 was rejected. The conclusion: Product quality and innovation have a significant effect on consumer purchasing decisions. It shows that if the company can improve product quality and innovation, consumers will be interested in buying these products, increasing consumer purchasing decisions.

Abstract

Masih rendahnya minat siswa dalam membaca teks biografi pada pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia mengakibatkan rendahnya kemampuan literasi siswa. Sehingga untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi tersebut, maka guru perlu menggunakan bahan ajar dalam pembelajaran di kelas. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan minat belajar siswa dan juga kemampuan literasi siswa. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di SMP IT Ibnu Khaldun Medan. Peserta dalam kegiatan ini adalah siswa kelas VIII yang terdiri dari 32 orang siswa. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 25 Juli 2022. Kegiatan yang dilakukan dalam pengabdian ini adalah implementasi penggunaan bahan ajar teks biografi berbasis nilai etik untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi siswa sehingga dengan pengimplementasian ini, maka kemampuan literasi siswa semakin meningkat. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah respon siswa sangat baik dan siswa lebih tertarik belajar menggunakan bahan ajar teks biografi berbasis nilai etik dalam pembelajaran di kelas. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa bahan ajar teks biografi berbasis nilai etik dapat meningkatkan kemampuan literasi siswa dalam pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how to develop learning tools with a contextual approach that is feasible and effective. The learning tools developed are learning tools with a contextual approach. The subjects in this research were class XI students at SMK Negeri 5 Medan. This type of research is R & D research using the 4-D model. To see the suitability of the learning tools, it was obtained from 5 expert validation people. Meanwhile, to see the effectiveness of learning tools, it can be obtained from testing the learning tools. The trials were carried out twice. The first trial was carried out on 9 students consisting of 3 low ability students, 3 medium ability students, and 3 high ability students. Meanwhile, the second trial was carried out on class XI students consisting of 36 students. Based on the conclusions of the five experts, they stated that learning tools with a contextual approach were included in the good category and suitable for use. Meanwhile, based on the results of the trial, students' assessments of the learning tools in the first and second trials were in the very good category. Students' English skills increase with learning tools based on a contextual approach. So it can be concluded that developing learning tools with a contextual approach is feasible and effective for use with students.

Abstract

Ecoprint adalah sebuah teknik cetak dengan pewarnaan kain alami yang cukup sederhana namun dapat menghasilkan motif yang unik dan otentik. Prinsip pembuatannya melalui kontak langsung antara daun, bunga, batang atau bagian tubuh lain yang mengandung pigmen warna dengan media kain tertentu. Kegiatan pelatihan ecoprint merupakan bagian dari upaya untuk mempromosikan seni ecoprint yang ramah lingkungan dengan menggunakan pewarna alami yang ada di lingkungan sekitar. Peserta dari kegiatan ini adalah ibu-ibu di desa Pantai Cermin Kanan Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai. Tahapan kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini yaitu sosialisasi, demonstrasi, dan praktek langsung. Ibu-ibu di desa Pantai Cermin Kanan Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai dilibatkan dalam pembuatan kain ecoprint dengan menggunakan larutan tanin daun mangga dan daun ketapang, dan juga memanfaatkan bunga serta daun-daun yang akan dicetak di kain. Pada kegiatan ini, ibu-ibu di Desa Pantai Cermin Kanan Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai menghasilkan kain ecoprint yang berbeda-beda warna dengan menggunakan pewarna alami tanin yang berbeda. Pelatihan ecoprint menjadi suatu strategi yang dapat memberikan manfaat positif dalam bidang seni, ekonomi maupun lingkungan. Kegiatan ini juga dapat bertujuan untuk mencapai tujuan pemberdayaan masyarakat lokal.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) Kevalidan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis pendekatan kontekstual untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa, (2) Kepraktisan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis pendekatan kontekstual untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa, (3) Keefektifan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis pendekatan kontekstual untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa dan (4) Peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa dengan menggunakan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis pendekatan kontekstual yang telah dikembangkan. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini adalah buku guru, LKS (lembar kegiatan siswa) dan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model pengembangan Thiagarajan, Semmel dan Semmel, yaitu model 4D yang telah dimodifikasi. Proses pengembangan tersebut terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu: define, design, develop dan disseminate. Hasil penelitian diperoleh perangkat pembelajaran yang valid, praktis, dan efektif. Hasil validasi ini menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan layak digunakan. Kepraktisan dilihat dari hasil lembar observasi keterlaksanaan perangkat pembelajaran, respon siswa terhadap perangkat pembelajaran berada di atas 80%. Keefektifan dilihat dari uji coba lapangan dengan nilai ketuntasan hasil belajar sudah memenuhi kriteria keefektifan yaitu ketuntasan belajar klasikal lebih besar sama dengan 85%. Pada uji coba lapangan pertama belum mencapai kriteria keefektifan, sedangkan pada uji coba lapangan kedua sudah memenuhi kriteria keefektifan, kemampuan guru mengelola pembelajaran dalam kategori baik dan aktivitas siswa berada pada kriteria batasan keefektifan pembelajaran. Pada uji coba lapangan pertama dan kedua menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran tersebut dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa.
