Abstract

This study critically analyses the ELSA Speak application and its multifaceted impacts on the development of speaking and pronunciation skills among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. EFL students often encounter persistent challenges such as limited exposure to authentic native-speaking environments, anxiety related to fear of negative evaluation, and predominantly passive learning processes that hinder oral proficiency. The ELSA Speak app effectively addresses these barriers by providing immediate, personalized, and detailed feedback on various critical components of spoken English, including pronunciation accuracy, intonation patterns, speech rhythm, word stress, grammatical correctness, lexical choice, and overall fluency. Employing a comprehensive literature review methodology, this study synthesizes findings from 14 peer-reviewed academic articles published between 2019 and 2024, which investigate the app’s speaking modules designed to simulate real-life communicative contexts and its autonomous learning features enhanced by gamified progress tracking systems. The evidence indicates that ELSA Speak significantly enhances learners’ pronunciation precision and oral fluency, while concurrently boosting their self-confidence and intrinsic motivation to engage in language practice. Furthermore, the application mitigates chronic speaking difficulties commonly faced by EFL learners and facilitates improved performance in authentic communicative interactions. By integrating well-established pedagogical frameworks with cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology, ELSA Speak offers an innovative, efficient, and scalable solution to address existing gaps in EFL instruction. This study contributes valuable insights into the potential of AI-driven language learning tools to transform traditional language pedagogy and foster more effective, learner-centered approaches in the digital age.

Abstract

Ecotourism is a crucial segment in the rapidly growing tourism industry. Despite being considered a sustainable solution, uncontrolled development can have negative impacts on the environment. This research aims to analyze the legal challenges in the development of ecotourism as part of the tourism business. The study employed a comprehensive literature review utilizing qualitative analysis to gain a thorough understanding of the topic spanning from 1972 to 2023. The findings indicate that the development of ecotourism as part of the tourism business faces several legal challenges. The Tourism Law Number 10 of 2009 serves as the primary foundation, but its implementation in ecotourism raises issues such as the misalignment of business interests and environmental preservation, insufficient participation of local communities, and suboptimal natural resource management. The sustainability of ecotourism requires synergy between the development of tourism business and environmental preservation. There is a need for enhanced regulatory implementation by strengthening community participation in decision-making and increasing their understanding of the economic and environmental benefits of ecotourism.

Abstract

Teaching language to students with special needs presents unique challenges, requiring tailored strategies to address diverse learning abilities and disabilities. Despite the growing emphasis on inclusive education, there is limited research on effective language teaching methods for this population. This study explores strategies for teaching language to students with special needs, focusing on their impact on language acquisition and engagement. The research aims to identify and evaluate effective strategies for teaching language to students with special needs, focusing on their impact on language proficiency, engagement, and inclusivity. It seeks to provide practical recommendations for educators to create supportive and effective learning environments. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving 50 students with special needs and their teachers. Data were collected through classroom observations, teacher interviews, and pre- and post-tests to measure language proficiency. Qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis, while quantitative data were analyzed using statistical software. The findings revealed that multisensory approaches, visual aids, and individualized instruction significantly improved language proficiency and engagement among students with special needs. Teachers reported that these strategies enhanced students' confidence and participation. However, challenges such as resource limitations and lack of training were also identified. Tailored strategies, such as multisensory approaches and individualized instruction, are effective in teaching language to students with special needs. Educators should prioritize inclusive practices and professional development to address challenges and enhance language learning outcomes.
