Abstract

Gender inequality remains a pressing social issue, particularly in thedivision of roles between men and women. Among marginalized communities, gender relations are further complicated by intersecting social and economicpressures. This study examines gender role inequality within family life in the AquAda Community, Kupang, employing a qualitative phenomenological approach.Data were gathered through in-depth interviews with 9 participants and analyzedusing Caroline Moser’s gender analysis framework. The findings reveal that womenexperience a double burden, balancing work outside the home with full responsibilityfor domestic tasks. These inequalities are entrenched by strong patriarchal culturalnorms. Economic hardship further exacerbates gender disparities, while maledominance in household decision-making contributes to negative consequences forwomen’s well-being. The study highlights the emergence of awareness and dialogueamong couples regarding the need for more equitable role-sharing, signaling thepotential for gradual transformation in gender relations within marginalizedcontexts.

Abstract

Students who live away from home often face various challenges in the adaptation process, ranging from separation from family, demands for independence, to adjustment to a new environment. These factors can increase the risk of feelings of loneliness and psychological problems, and potentially reduce their subjective well-being. This study aims to explore the relationship between social support and subjective well-being among students who live away from home, and to analyze the relationship between each aspect of social support and subjective well-being. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with a correlational design, and the sampling technique applied is accidental sampling. The population of the study was students who lived away from home, with a sample size of 384 participants. The instruments used in this study included the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, the Satisfaction With Life Scale, and the Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule. The results of the analysis showed a significant positive relationship between social support and subjective well-being, with a p value <0.001. In addition, the correlation analysis of the three aspects of social support showed that each aspect had a significant relationship with subjective well-being. These findings indicate that social support is one of the key factors influencing the subjective well-being of students who live away from home. Thus, it is crucial for students to build a strong social support network to improve their well-being during their time away from home. This research provides valuable insights for developing support programs for students living away from home to help them adapt better. Furthermore, support from friends, family, and the surrounding community can help students cope with the stress and challenges they face during their time away from home. This suggests that building positive social relationships is crucial for their mental and emotional well-being.

Abstract

Psychological dynamics refer to the interactions and changes that occur in a person's thoughts, feelings, and behavior when they face and resolve conflicts involving perceptions, attitudes, and behavior. Understanding a person's psychological dynamics can help in understanding their needs and the appropriate ways to help them overcome various psychological problems. This study aims to understand the psychological dynamics of adolescent perpetrators of sexual violence who are undergoing rehabilitation at the Class I Special Child Rehabilitation Institution (LPKA) in Kupang City. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The research subjects consisted of two children involved in sexual violence cases. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation, supported by interviews with LPKA officers and psychological assessment reports. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis techniques based on cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal aspects. The results of the study show that the psychological dynamics of adolescent perpetrators of sexual violence are influenced by parenting patterns, family, past experiences, emotional pressure, and the influence of the social environment. The cognitive aspect of adolescents is characterized by a lack of self-control and understanding of risk, the emotional aspect shows anger, guilt, and regret, while the interpersonal aspect is influenced by negative social circles and poor social skills. This study emphasizes the importance of a guidance approach that not only emphasizes legal aspects but also psychological rehabilitation, the role of family, and the social environment to prevent the recurrence of sexual violence.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract Prosocial behavior, such as helping others, plays a crucial role in supporting mental health, especially among college students who often face psychological challenges and require social support. Psychological First Aid (PFA) is one form of psychosocial support that peers can provide, and peer teaching—where students teach fellow students—is considered an effective method to foster prosocial behavior intentions while enhancing mutual support. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the peer teaching method in PFA training to increase prosocial behavior intention among students at Nusa Cendana University. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test–post-test control group was used, involving 88 students grouped through cluster sampling into experimental group I (n=3), experimental group II (n=22), and a control group (n=63). Data were collected online using the Prosocial Tendencies Measure questionnaire and analyzed with repeated measures ANOVA. The results showed no significant differences in pre- and post-test scores across the groups (p-value within subjects = 0.360; between subjects = 0.632). These findings indicate that PFA training using the peer teaching method did not significantly improve prosocial behavior intention. It is recommended that future training incorporate practical field experiences with organizations such as hospitals or disaster response agencies to improve real-world impact.

Abstract

The massive development of digital technology has disrupted parenting patterns in rural areas that traditionally uphold family values, triggering a gap in interactions between parents and children. This study aims to explore in-depth the phenomenological experiences of parents in Ndetundora I Village, Ende Regency, as they navigate the dynamics of parenting in the digital era. Adopting a qualitative method with an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach, the study involved in-depth interviews with four parents of adolescent children to understand their subjective interpretations. The study findings revealed an ambivalent perception of devices; although recognized as vital instruments for distance education and communication, devices are also perceived as triggers for the degradation of family interactions and the weakening of parental authority due to children's broader access to information. Parents respond to these challenges through strategies that oscillate between firm discipline and persuasive approaches. It is concluded that rural parenting practices in the digital era are a complex manifestation of parental affection and protective expectations, demanding an adaptive balance between strict control and emotional support to safeguard children's futures.
