Abstract

Education is important for societal advancement and individual empowerment, providing opportunities, developing essential skills, and breaking cycles of poverty. Nonetheless, the path to educational success is marred by challenges such as achieving academic excellence and preventing student dropouts. Early identification of students at risk of dropping out or those likely to excel academically can significantly enhance educational outcomes through tailored interventions. Traditional methods often fall short in precision and foresight for effective early detection. While previous studies have utilized machine learning to predict student performance, the potential for more sophisticated ensemble methods, such as stacked classifiers, remains largely untapped in educational contexts. This study develops a stacked classifier integrating the predictive strengths of LightGBM, Random Forest, and logistic regression. The model achieved an accuracy of 80.23%, with precision, recall, and F1-score of 79.09%, 80.23%, and 79.20%, respectively, surpassing the performance of the individual models tested. These results underscore the stacked classifier's enhanced predictive capability and transformative potential in educational settings. By accurately identifying students at risk and those likely to achieve academic excellence early, educational institutions can better allocate resources and design targeted interventions. This approach optimizes educational outcomes and supports informed policymaking, fostering environments conducive to student success.

Abstract

Polygamy, the marriage practice in which a man has more than one wife, has become a controversial topic debated in various societies, including in the context of religious teachings. This research aims to explore the Qur'anic perspective on polygamy and its implications for Muslim individuals, families, and communities. Through analysis of verses from the Qur'an relating to polygamy, this research highlights the legal aspects, conditions, and objectives of this practice within the framework of Islamic values. The research results show that the Qur'an permits polygamy with strict provisions, emphasizing the need for fair treatment of the wives one has. Although the Qur'an gives permission, this research emphasizes that polygamy should not be considered as a primary option, but rather as a last solution in certain circumstances. By highlighting the moral and social responsibilities inherent in men who choose polygamy, the Qur'an emphasizes the importance of maintaining balance and justice in domestic life. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the Qur'anic view of polygamy, discussing the dimensions of ethics, justice, and responsibility in the context of the Islamic family and society. Thus, this research seeks to present a richer view of polygamy as a complex aspect of life, embodied in deep Islamic values.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which still affects many Indonesians and causes death. Currently, many people are resistant to treating tuberculosis using synthetic chemicals, so many sufferers find it difficult to recover, while the discovery of new drugs is still rare, therefore we need drugs made from natural ingredients that have been used by the community to treat coughs with phlegm and blood, which is one of the Symptoms of tuberculosis include rimbang leaves (Solanum torvum Sw.). Therefore, researchers conducted antituberculosis potential tests with rimbang leaf extract (Solanum torvum Sw.) with the aim of obtaining alternative medicines from plants that are rational, safe, cheap and easy to obtain. The extract was made by percolation using n-hexane followed by ethanol fractionation, then a phytochemical screening test was carried out on fresh leaves, simplicia, ethanol extract and n-hexane extract. The antituberculosis test of n-hexane extract and ethanol extract was carried out on Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria using the Lowenstein-Jensen method using patient sputum which was first identified using Ziehl Nielsen staining. The results of the phytochemical screening test showed that the chemical compound groups in fresh leaves, simplicia, ethanol extract and n-hexane extract, namely ethanol extract, were positive for alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, steroids/triterpenoids. and tannins while the n-hexane extract was positive for glycosides and steroids/triterpenoids. The antituberculosis effectiveness of ethanol extract is stronger than n-hexane extract, because in the 1st week and 2nd week the ethanol extract was able to inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, while the n-hexane extract from the 1st to the 4th week did not inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis at all.

Abstract

In the past, people tended to be more active, because to carry out an activity a lot of physical activity was needed. Nowadays, people are too lazy to change the TV channel, so it is not surprising that obesity, high blood pressure and heart disease have become epidemics affecting public health. The increasing trend of weight loss recently has also been accompanied by an increase in the production of drugs and food substitutes which are promoted as slimming foods that are healthy and highly nutritious, even though we may know that these products generally only help suppress hunger for a while. If the body needs to consume daily food that contains balanced nutrients, if the body can digest, absorb and metabolize these nutrients properly, an ideal body weight and balanced nutritional condition will be achieved. So it can be concluded that SPK software is needed that can provide information on diet analysis, planning food menus and sports activity schedules quickly and accurately. To solve the problem of preparing diet programs for obese sufferers, a linear programming model with a dynamic programming method was chosen, because the application of the programming method linear on this problem can provide information on planning a food menu with nutritional content that will not exceed the limited number of nutrients.

Abstract

Due to growing interest in renewable energy technologies, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have emerged as promising alternatives to conventional photovoltaics. This study explores the enhancement of titanium dioxide (TiO2) photoelectrodes through doping with lanthanum (La), a rare earth element known for its ability to modify semiconductors' structural and electronic properties. La-doped TiO2 was synthesized using the sol-gel method with La concentrations ranging from 0 to 4 mol%. The resulting films were deposited onto substrates and sintered at 600 °C for 1 hour. Characterization techniques included X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), UV-Vis spectrophotometry, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). XRD confirmed the anatase phase of TiO2 and the appearance of La2O₃ phases with doping. The smallest crystallite size (8.20 nm) and lowest bandgap energy (3.31 eV) were achieved at 1 mol% La, compared to 3.52 eV for undoped TiO2. SEM-EDS indicated uniform La distribution, while FTIR revealed changes in surface chemistry. These results suggest that La doping, particularly at 1 mol%, can effectively enhance the optical and structural properties of TiO2, making it a promising candidate for improved DSSC performance.

Abstract

Environmental pollution by industrial companies in Indonesia remains a serious issue, threatening environmental sustainability and public safety. Although Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management (UUPPLH) provides a strong legal basis, its enforcement often lacks effectiveness. This research aims to analyze the forms of environmental criminal offenses committed by industrial companies and the effectiveness of criminal law enforcement carried out by law enforcement agencies. This study employs a normative legal research method with a qualitative-descriptive approach, analyzing relevant regulations, court decisions, and law enforcement practices. Data were gathered through intensive literature review. The findings indicate that the UUPPLH extensively regulates various forms of industrial pollution offenses, from exceeding quality standards to illegal hazardous waste management, which are subject to substantial fines and administrative sanctions. However, law enforcement faces significant challenges, including the complexity of proving corporate fault, limited resources and coordination among law enforcement agencies, and the potential influence of external factors such as the economic power of corporations. Criminal sanctions, particularly fines, have not consistently provided an optimal deterrent effect, and the obligation for environmental restoration post-judgment is often not fully implemented. This study emphasizes the urgency of enhancing the capacity and coordination of law enforcement, as well as the importance of public participation and transparency in legal processes. The contribution of this article lies in its integrative analysis of legal norms and practical enforcement challenges, offering concrete policy recommendations for strengthening the environmental criminal justice system. A limitation of this study is its primary focus on normative aspects, without extensive empirical fieldwork.

Abstract

Machine learning models in drug discovery often depend on high-dimensional molecular descriptors, many of which may be redundant or irrelevant. Reducing these descriptors is essential for improving model performance, interpretability, and computational efficiency. This study compares two widely used reduction strategies: SHAP-based feature selection and autoencoder-based compression, within the context of Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) classification. LightGBM is used as a consistent modeling framework to evaluate models trained on all descriptors, the top 50 and 100 SHAP-ranked descriptors, and a 64-dimensional autoencoder embedding. The results show that SHAP-based selection produces interpretable and stable models with minimal performance loss, particularly when using the top 100 descriptors. In contrast, the autoencoder achieves the highest test performance by capturing nonlinear patterns in a compact, low-dimensional representation, although this comes at the cost of interpretability and consistency across data splits. These findings reflect the differing inductive biases of each method. SHAP prioritizes sparsity and attribution, while autoencoders focus on reconstruction and continuity. The analysis emphasizes that descriptor reduction strategies are not interchangeable. SHAP-based selection is suitable for applications where interpretability and reliability are essential, such as in hypothesis-driven or regulatory settings. Autoencoders are more appropriate for performance-driven tasks, including virtual screening. The choice of reduction strategy should be guided not only by performance metrics but also by the specific modeling requirements and assumptions relevant to cheminformatics workflows.
