Abstract

Education is a learning activity that determines the success of achieving student learning outcomes in class. So, to achieve learning goals by increasing student learning outcomes, it is necessary to have a good and correct learning process with the help of facilities, good learning methods.This study aims to determine the effect of an interactive e-module based on kvisoft flipbook with the discovery learning model on arthropod material on student learning outcomes. This research uses development research (R&D) with the ADDIE model which consists of five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. This research reached the evaluation development stage. Phase testing for e-module development in the form of validation (media expert, material expert and pedagogic expert) and testpracticality and student response. The results of the validation analysis are in the very valid category. Practicality is in the very practical category used in learning, and student responses are in the very good category and are well received by students in learning.

Abstract

Students' conceptual understanding is an essential component in terms of successful learning. But the fact shows that the conceptual understanding of Indonesian students is still relatively low. One of the factors for the unelevated understanding of the concept is the lack of active participation during the process. Student involvement encounter by using teaching materials that facilitate student learning independence. One way is to use a module integrated with discovery learning models that authorize students to learn independently. This research is survey research as an initial step in developing discovery learning-based learning modules assisted by PhET Simulations. The benefit of this research is to find out what students currently need in science learning and how much students need for the buildup of discovery learning-based modules. The subjects used in this study were junior high school students with a sample size of 35 students and 26 science teachers selected by region. The needs analysis includes four indicators, a) analysis of learning problems; b) student analysis; c) objective analysis; and d) learning setting analysis. Based on the results of this study, the discovery learning-based learning modules assisted by PhET Simulations needed to be developed as a science learning medium to train students' conceptual understanding in Riau and Riau Islands provinces.

Abstract

Belum optimalnya keterampilan santifik melalui pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan guru IPA dalam mengintegrasikan eksperimen KIT IPA khususnya KIT listrik dengan virtual lab yang menerapkan penggunaan teknologi, menjadikan urgen untuk dilakukan pelatihan melalui pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Tujuan pelatihan untuk menguatkan keterampilan saintifik guru IPA dalam membelajarkan konsep listrik melalui eksperimen KIT listrik dengan integrasi virltual lab pada topik rangkaian listrik. Metode pengabdian menggunakan jenis pelatihan dan pendampingan dengan metode eksperimen, demonstrasi, dan simulasi. Respon awal guru peserta pelatihan sebagian besar menyatakan masih minim dalam menggunakan KIT listrik untuk pembelajaran dan merasa penting mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan. Setelah mengikuti pelatihan dengan pendampingan dan monitoring diperoleh respon yang sangat positif dari guru-guru IPA. Peserta antusias dan merasa puas mengikuti pelatihan eksperimen KIT listrik yang didukung simulasi virtual lab. Peserta secara umum sudah memahami dan mampu menerapkan penggunaan KIT listrik terintegrasi virtual lab melalui aplikasi PhET Simulation di sekolah. Pelatihan yang dilaksanakan dapat melatihkan penguatan keterampilan saintifik Guru IPA SMP MGMP Rayon 1 Pangkalan Kerinci Kabupaten Pelalawan dalam memahami konsep rangkaian listrik. The suboptimal scientific skills in learning carried out by science teachers integrating science KIT experiments, especially electricity KIT, with virtual labs that implement the use of technology, make it urgent to carry out training through community service. The purpose of the training is to strengthen the scientific skills of science teachers in teaching electrical concepts through electricity KIT experiments with virtual lab integration on the topic of electrical circuits. The service method uses training and mentoring with experimental, demonstration, and simulation methods. The initial response of the training participants mostly stated that they were still minimal in using the electricity KIT for learning and felt it was important to participate in training activities. After participating in training with mentoring and monitoring, a very positive response was obtained from science teachers. Participants were enthusiastic and satisfied with participating in the integrated electricity KIT experiment training with virtual lab simulation. Participants generally understood and were able to apply the use of the electricity KIT integrated with a virtual lab through the PhET Simulation application in schools. The training carried out can train the strengthening of scientific skills of Science Teachers of SMP MGMP Rayon 1 Pangkalan Kerinci, Pelalawan Regency in understanding the concept of electrical circuits.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum is a framework established and implemented since the 2022/2023 academic year through the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 56/M/2022 concerning Guidelines for Curriculum Implementation. Implementing the Independent Curriculum significantly affects various aspects, especially selecting appropriate learning media. Based on the results of interviews and findings from field observations, many teachers have not made maximum use of existing technology in the learning process. Creative teachers need to develop interesting learning media for students because the independent curriculum is closely related to innovation. This community service activity aims to effectively train teachers at SMPN 1 Mempura, Siak Regency, to implement media-based learning according to the Independent Curriculum. The methods used in this service include socialization and guidance in designing and utilizing iSpring Suite media. The process consists of five stages: analysis, preparation, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The participants included 15 teachers at SMPN 1 Mempura, Siak Regency. The output of this activity was assessed through improvements in pretest and posttest results, as well as satisfaction surveys. The findings showed that 1) participants' knowledge increased by 39%, with an average pretest score of 61 and an average posttest score of 85, and 2) the results of the satisfaction survey showed that 93% of participants gave a positive response by categorizing their responses as very good.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the effect of pictorial glossaries on the creative thinking abilities of class X students, SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan on the subject of the Plant World. This type of research was quasi-experimental research. The study population was all high school grade X students as a hypothetical population. The research sample consisted of 67 people consisting of 33 students in class X MIPA 1 as a control class and 34 students in class X MIPA 2 as an experimental class. Data collection techniques used observation sheets. The result shows that average score of the creative thinking ability of the control class students obtained a mean of 64 with a moderate category while the experimental class obtained an average of 74 with a high category. This shows the influence of glossary media in the material world of plants in SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan with a significant level of 0.05. Thus, there is an influence of the use of pictorial glossaries on the creative thinking abilities of the control class students with the experimental class on plant material in the learning process.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan bakteri endofit sebagai penghasil senyawa metabolit sekunder sangat menguntungkan. Kandungan metabolit sekunder yang terdapat di dalam jaringan tumbuhan serta dalam bakteri merupakan potensi yang memberikan banyak manfaat dalam bidang pertanian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengisolasi bakteri endofit dari daun dan kulit batang tanaman Laban (Vitex pubescens Vahl) dan uji antibakteri. Bakteri diisolasi menggunakan media HVA. Karakteristik bakteri endofit  diamati secara makroskopis, mikroskopis, dan melakukan uji katalase serta untuk uji antibakteri menggunakan bakteri patogen Erwinia carotrova. Jumlah isolat endofit yang berhasil diisolasi berjumlah delapan isolat (empat isolat dari daun laban dan empat isolat dari kulit batang laban). Karakterisasi dilakukan pada delapan isolat endofit yang dihasilkan bahwa isolat memiliki ciri-ciri yang berbeda baik secara makroskopis, mikroskopis, dan semua isolat endofit dari tanaman laban menghasilkan enzim katalase (uji +). Hasil aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan tujuh isolat bakteri endofit memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap erwinia carotrovora. Tanaman laban kaya akan keragaman bakteri endofit. Isolate bakteri endofit terisolasi 8 spesies yang berbeda (DA45, DA46, DB15, DB16, KBC1, KBC2, KBC3 dan KBC4). Bakteri endofit yang berasosiasi dengan tanaman berperan penting dalam kesehatan tanaman.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of interest of high school students in grade XII to become prospective biology educators in the Gen-Z era. The method used in this study is a descriptive method. To achieve this goal, a study has been conducted using a descriptive research design with a quantitative approach. The population of this study was taken from two schools, namely SMA Negeri 8 Pekanbaru totaling 454 students consisting of 12 classes and SMA Negeri 15 Pekanbaru totaling 241 students consisting of 7 classes. The number of samples was taken using the Purposive Sampling technique. The instruments used were questionnaires and interview sheets. Data were obtained by distributing questionnaires, as well as interviews, then the data obtained were analyzed descriptively. the results of the study on the profile of interest of high school students in grade XII to become prospective biology educators in the Gen-Z era were obtained from the analysis of each indicator, namely cognition (knowing) was in the interested category with a percentage of 84%, emotion (feeling) was in the less interested category with a percentage of 73%, and conation (will) was in the less interested category with a percentage of 58%. Meanwhile, in students of SMA Negeri 15 Pekanbaru, it was obtained from each indicator, namely cognition (knowing) was in the interested category with a percentage of 85%, emotion (feeling) was in the less interested category with a percentage of 74%, and conation (will) was in the less interested category with a percentage of 65%. The conclusion of this study is that students of SMA Negeri 15 Pekanbaru are 1% more interested in becoming prospective biology educators than students of SMA Negeri 8 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

This activity aims to improve the Life Skills of Local Wisdom in Independent Management of organic vegetable seed houses and increase the participation of participants towards self-sufficiency in food. This P2M method is the Integrated Real Work Lecture Activity (KUKERTA) of the University of Riau for the period I and III of 2022. This activity was carried out in Sidomulyo Timur Village, Marpoyan Damai District in March - October 2022. The target community is the cadre of the Women Farmers Group (KWT) . Monitoring the activities of implementing the participants' life skills includes: 1) Proposing problems and solutions, 2). Implementation activities, 3) Demonstration of activities, 4) Application of activity results, 5) Integration of crop yields and benefits and constraints. The results of monitoring activities show the success of these five activity indicators which are supported by the existence of local wisdom such as the culture of mutual cooperation, so that life skills in managing seed houses can increase and the participation of the Beringin Indah community in the village of Sidomulo Timur in maximizing the use of the yard by planting vegetables using fertilizers. organic, but the new harvest is sufficient for the local community in RW 06 covering only 12 RT. In conclusion, this community service activity is very appropriate, appropriate/relevant, systematic, coherent and fakual to improve people's life skills.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru IPA dalam menggunakan Kit IPA dalam pembelajaran dengan metode eksperimen dan mengetahui dampak positif program pengembangan kompetensi guru dalam melaksanakan inkuiri eksperimen IPA bagi guru dalam kelompok MGMP IPA Rayon 1 Pelalawan. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode simulasi/pemodelan, latihan, diskusi, dan real teaching. Hasil dari pelatihan ini adalah peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru IPA dalam menggunakan Kit IPA terhadap pengelolaan eksperimen. Dengan adanya peningkatan tersebut, maka metode eksperimen dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran, sehingga siswa aktif dalam pembelajaran dan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Transformasi sosial petani lebah madu di lahan gambut menjadi isu penting karena selama ini sebagian besar petani lebah madu di Desa Tanjung Leban masih menggantungkan pendapatan dari pengambilan madu liar yang bersifat musiman, berisiko tinggi, dan tidak ramah lingkungan. Aktivitas tersebut sering kali menyebabkan kerusakan habitat lebah serta menurunkan keberlanjutan ekosistem gambut. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya pengabdian yang mampu mengalihkan praktik tradisional menuju sistem budidaya lebah madu yang berkelanjutan. Pengembangan budidaya lebah madu di lahan gambut tidak hanya meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat, tetapi juga mendukung konservasi ekosistem dan ketahanan ekonomi lokal berbasis sumber daya alam hayati. Metode pengabdian dilakukan melalui pendekatan partisipatif dan kolaboratif, meliputi kegiatan penyuluhan, pelatihan teknis pembuatan stup dan pemeliharaan koloni lebah madu, dan praktik pemanenan ramah lingkungan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan terjadinya perubahan pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku petani lebah, yang semula hanya mengandalkan madu hutan menjadi mampu mengelola budidaya lebah secara mandiri dan berorientasi pasar. Petani mulai memahami pentingnya keberlanjutan ekologi, manajemen koloni, serta pengolahan produk bernilai tambah. Pengabdian ini membuktikan bahwa transformasi sosial melalui pendekatan pemberdayaan dan transfer teknologi sederhana dapat memperkuat kapasitas ekonomi masyarakat gambut sekaligus menjaga keseimbangan lingkungan. Program ini menjadi model praktik baik dalam pengembangan ekonomi hijau berbasis lebah madu di lahan gambut yang dapat direplikasi di wilayah lain.
