Abstract

Teaching scientific literacy in schools is not easy, even though it is needed in education in the industrial era 4.0. This study aims to analyze the level of students' scientific literacy skills and their obstacles in school. This research was conducted on tenth graders at two Banjarmasin High Schools, namely SMA which applied the driving curriculum, and SMA which applied the 2013 curriculum. The number of research samples was 60 students who were taken using cluster random sampling. The results of the analysis show students' ability to explain phenomena scientifically, design and evaluate scientific inquiries, and interpret scientific data and evidence in each school in poor criteria (value 40), except to explain phenomena scientifically in group 1 in fairly good criteria (value = 52). The existence of obstacles is believed to interfere with student's ability to understand scientific literacy. These barriers are sourced from students' internal factors (STEM understanding, scientific processes) and are exacerbated by external factors (teachers' STEM literacy, learning atmosphere, infrastructure, assessment, and evaluation).

Abstract

Considering the importance of problem-solving skills in the 21st century, students should be trained in these skills, especially in sciences such as physics. Therefore, teaching materials such as worksheets are needed to train these skills. This study aims to describe the effect of digital worksheets on dynamic fluids with authentic learning in training students' problem-solving skills. The type of research used is pre-experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest design, with research subjects consisting of students in one of the XI MIPA classes in Barito Kuala Regency. The research data was collected through problem-solving skill tests before and after using the digital worksheets with the same material and then analyzed using normalized N-gain or gain scores. The results showed that the effect of the digital worksheets was in the high category with an N-gain score of 0.75, and students reached a good category in problem-solving skills. Therefore, it can be concluded that the digital worksheets on dynamic fluids with authentic learning effectively train students' problem-solving skills and can be used as input for teachers to train students' problem-solving skills.

Abstract

[Title: Development of Physics Cognitive Instruments Of Junior High School Students]  This study aims to develop cognitive instruments on energy and business materials, simple aircraft and light quality. The specific purpose of this study is to describe: (1) the validity of cognitive instruments seen from Outfit MNSQ, ZSTD, and Pt Measure Corr; (2) the reliability of cognitive instruments seen from the values of individual separation, grain separation, and Cronbach Alpha; (3) the degree of difficulty seen from the logit value in the measurement column; This development research refers to the development model of Borg and Gall with the subject of research of 200 students of class VIII originating from several SMPN in Banjarmasin. Instrument collecting data in the form of validation and cognitive instruments. Data analysis techniques are descriptive and quantitative. The results showed: (1) five items of description on light material, nine items about the description of simple plane materials and nine items about the description of energy materials and businesses that are categorized as valid; (2) reliability of cognitive instruments seen from individual separation values, grain separation values, and Cronbach Alpha values are categorized as very reliable; (3) the difficulty level of questions seen from the logit of categorized is very difficult, difficult, easy, and very easy.

Abstract

Learning systems in emergencies, can be implemented by making online-based learning or distance learning. This study compares the top 100 citations of online learning and distance learning publications and analyzes their real contribution in physics learning from 1992 to 2021. This study uses bibliometric analysis and literature review. The findings of this study include: 1) The trend of online learning topics is more consistently rising and has a higher value than distance learning every year, 2) The most frequently used keywords are online learning, and distance metrics learning, the United States has the highest contribution over the last thirty years, 3) The type of document that is often used is articles, 4) The highest average citation per paper per year is in 2020, 5) Both topics demonstrate the superiority of contributions to studying physics. The real contributions in physics are to make learning more flexible, train students' independence, train technology, deepen understanding of concepts and make learning more efficient. More intensively, further research can be done by comparing other learning systems applied in physics learning.

Abstract

Pendidik kreatif diyakini mampu mencetak lulusan yang kreatif. Namun, penguasaan konten dan pedagogis pada pendidik IPA dalam menghasilkan karya literasi sains masih rendah. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan pengabdian Masyarakat ini dilakukan pada MGMP IPA Swasta Kota Banjarmasin untuk mengembangkan karya literasi sains berbasis lingkungan lahan basah. Metode pengabdian diadaptasi dari tahapan penelitian tindakan, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan (workshop, pendampingan, diskusi, dan penugasan), observasi-evaluasi, dan refleksi. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa pendidik IPA mampu memahami konsep literasi sains, contoh-contoh karya literasi sains, berbagai model pembelajaran inovatif untuk mengembangkan karya literasi sains peserta didik, project penguatan profil pelajar pancasila dan penerapannya dalam mengembangkan karya literasi sains peserta didik, serta mampu menghasilkan berbagai karya literasi sains berbasis lingkungan lahan basah dengan baik.Abstract. Creative educators are believed to be able to produce creative graduates. However, the content and pedagogical mastery of science educators in producing science literacy work is still low. Therefore, this community service activity was carried out at the Private Science MGMP in Banjarmasin City to develop science literacy work based on the wetland environment. The service method is adapted from the stages of action research, namely planning, implementation (workshops, mentoring, discussions, and assignments), observation-evaluation, and reflection. The results of the service show that science educators can understand the concept of science literacy, examples of science literacy work, various innovative learning models to develop students' science literacy work, project strengthening the Pancasila learner profile and its application in developing students' science literacy work, and can produce various science literacy works based on the wetland environment well. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pemahaman konsep gaya di kalangan siswa SMA Negeri 1 Bati-Bati menggunakan metode Certainty of Response Index (CRI). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan survei deskriptif kuantitatif, yang dilaksanakan dari Desember 2020 hingga Juni 2021, melibatkan 65 siswa kelas XI IPA yang dipilih secara acak. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari 20 soal yang diadaptasi dari Force Concept Inventory, mencakup topik-topik seperti identifikasi gaya, kinematika, serta Hukum I, II, dan III Newton. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan tingkat miskonsepsi yang signifikan di antara siswa, terutama dalam memahami Hukum III Newton, di mana tingkat miskonsepsi mencapai 91%. Secara keseluruhan, 86,75% siswa menunjukkan adanya miskonsepsi, sementara hanya 3,65% yang menunjukkan pemahaman konsep yang benar. Metode CRI terbukti efektif dalam membedakan antara siswa yang menebak jawaban dan yang yakin dengan pengetahuannya. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya intervensi yang tepat dan strategi pengajaran yang efektif untuk mengatasi miskonsepsi ini. Keterbatasan penelitian ini termasuk ukuran sampel yang terbatas pada satu sekolah, yang dapat mempengaruhi generalisasi hasil. Selain itu, penelitian ini tidak melibatkan intervensi untuk memperbaiki miskonsepsi yang teridentifikasi. Penelitian masa depan sebaiknya memperluas ukuran sampel, menyesuaikan instrumen dengan konteks pendidikan lokal, dan memasukkan intervensi eksperimental untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep. Temuan ini berkontribusi signifikan pada pengembangan pendidikan fisika, menyediakan dasar untuk memperbaiki metode pengajaran dan mengatasi miskonsepsi siswa. Assessment of Conceptual Understanding Capabilities of High School Students at SMA Negeri 1 Bati-Bati Using the Certainty of Response Index Method in the Context of Force Abstract This study aimed to identify the conceptual understanding of force among students at SMA Negeri 1 Bati-Bati using the Certainty of Response Index (CRI) method. The research employs a descriptive quantitative survey approach, conducted from December 2020 to June 2021, involving 65 randomly selected students from the 11th-grade science program. The research instrument consists of 20 questions adapted from the Force Concept Inventory, covering topics such as force identification, kinematics, and Newton's First, Second, and Third Laws. The findings reveal a significant level of misconceptions among students, particularly in understanding Newton's Third Law, where the misconception rate reached 91%. Overall, 86.75% of students demonstrated misconceptions, while only 3.65% showed correct understanding. The CRI method proved effective in distinguishing between students who guessed the answers and those who were confident in their knowledge. This study underscores the importance of targeted interventions and effective teaching strategies to address these misconceptions. Limitations of this research include the sample size being limited to one school, potentially affecting the generalizability of the results. Additionally, the study did not involve intervention to correct identified misconceptions. Future research should expand the sample size, adapt the instrument to the local educational context, and include experimental interventions to improve conceptual understanding. The findings contribute significantly to the development of physics education, providing a foundation for improving teaching methods and addressing student misconceptions.

Abstract

Kemampuan memecahkan masalah dan kolaborasi dibutuhkan dalam proses pembelajaran fisika, tetapi kurangnya sumber belajar berbasis authentic learning serta model pembelajaran yang tidak sesuai menyebabkan peserta didik kesulitan memahami materi dan menyelesaikan permasalahan secara kolaboratif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan validitas teoritis dari produk pengembangan berupa materi ajar gerak lurus berbasis authentic learning menggunakan model collaborative problem solving. Model penelitian dan pengembangan yang digunakan adalah ASSURE. Data diperoleh melalui lembar validasi materi ajar yang dinilai oleh tiga validator. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa materi ajar yang dikembangkan terkategori sangat valid dengan skor rata-rata 3,55. Dengan demikian, diperoleh simpulan bahwa materi ajar gerak lurus berbasis authentic learning menggunakan model collaborative problem solving dapat diujicobakan dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian ini berpotensi untuk menjembatani kesenjangan antara pengetahuan teoritis dan aplikasi praktis, meningkatkan pengalaman belajar siswa dan mempersiapkan siswa untuk tantangan dunia nyata. Straight Movement Teaching Materials Based on Authentic Learning using the Collaborative Problem-Solving Model: Validity’s Aspects Abstract Problem-solving and collaboration skills are required in the physics learning process. Still, the lack of learning resources based on authentic learning and inappropriate teaching models causes students to have difficulty understanding the material and solving problems collaboratively. This research aims to describe the theoretical validity of the developed product in the form of straight-movement teaching materials based on authentic learning using the collaborative problem-solving model. The research and development model used is ASSURE. Data were obtained through the teaching material validation sheet assessed by three validators. The validation results show that the developed teaching materials are categorized as very valid with an average score of 3.55. Thus, it is concluded that the straight movement teaching materials based on authentic learning using the collaborative problem-solving model can be tested in the learning process. The results of this study have the potential to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enhance student learning experiences, and prepare students for real-world challenges.

Abstract

Hasi penelitian menunjukkan peran materia ajar sangat krusial dalam pembelajaran fisika. Sayangnya, ketersediaan materia ajar yang relevan masih kurang diperhatikan sehingga keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa masih tergolong rendah pada saat diberikan latihan soal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan validitas, kepraktisan, dan efektivitas materi ajar fisika. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model desain ASSURE. Penelitian ini melibatkan dua validator ahli (dosen) dan satu validator praktisi (guru matapelajaran) untuk menguji validitas materi ajar. Pada tahap uji kepraktisan dan keefektifan, 27 siswa kelas X MIPA 5 di SMA Negeri 2 Banjarmasin dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian diperoleh menggunakan lembar validasi materi ajar, angket respon siswa, dan tes hasil belajar siswa yang dianalisis secara deskriptif-kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) validitas materi ajar berdasarkan lembar validasi berkategori valid (skor: 3,38) dan reliabel (r: 0.97), (2) kepraktisan materi ajar berdasarkan angket respon siswa berkategori praktis (skor: 3,08), (3) efektivitas materi ajar berdasarkan tes hasil belajar berkategori sedang (n-gain: 0,62). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa materi ajar impuls dan momentum yang dikembangkan valid, praktis dan efektif untuk melatihkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah dan layak untuk digunakan dalam pengajaran fisika. Development of Teaching Materials for Impulse and Momentum Using the Direct Instruction Model to Train Problem-Solving Skills Abstract Research results indicate the crucial role of teaching materials in physics learning. Unfortunately, the availability of relevant teaching materials is still overlooked, resulting in students' problem-solving skills being relatively low when given problem-solving exercises. The purpose of this study is to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of physics teaching materials. This research is a development study using the ASSURE design model. The study involved two expert validators (lecturers) and one practitioner validator (subject teacher) to test the validity of the teaching materials. In the practicality and effectiveness test phases, 27 students from class X MIPA 5 at SMA Negeri 2 Banjarmasin were involved in this study. Research data were obtained using teaching material validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and student learning outcome tests, which were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results show that (1) the validity of teaching materials based on the validation sheet is categorized as valid (score: 3.38) and reliable (r: 0.97), (2) the practicality of teaching materials based on student response questionnaires is categorized as practical (score: 3.08), (3) the effectiveness of teaching materials based on learning outcome tests is categorized as moderate (n-gain: 0.62). Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the developed teaching materials for impulse and momentum are valid, practical, and effective for training problem-solving skills and are suitable for use in physics teaching.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kualitas lingkungan belajar di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Banjarmasin menggunakan Model Rasch. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah angket dengan 25 butir soal yang mengukur variabel-variabel lingkungan belajar seperti interaksi sosial dan akses ke sumber belajar. Data dikumpulkan dari 54 siswa kelas X dan XI dan dianalisis menggunakan software Ministep versi 5.3.1.0. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa memiliki lingkungan belajar yang baik (46,3%) dan cukup (50%), dengan hanya 3,7% yang memiliki lingkungan belajar yang kurang. Analisis juga mengidentifikasi 9 siswa sebagai outlier, menunjukkan ketidakkonsistenan dalam jawaban angket. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi lingkungan belajar termasuk keaktifan guru, kondisi fisik ruang kelas, serta ketersediaan alat tulis dan buku pelajaran. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya lingkungan belajar yang kondusif untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar siswa. Model Rasch dan software Ministep terbukti efektif dalam memastikan validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen penelitian, memberikan data yang akurat dan konsisten untuk analisis lebih lanjut. Penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi praktis untuk meningkatkan lingkungan belajar di sekolah-sekolah di Indonesia. Analysis of the Learning Environment Categories for High School Students Based on the Rasch Model Abstract This study aims to assess the quality of the learning environment at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Banjarmasin utilizing the Rasch Model. The research instrument comprised a questionnaire with 25 items measuring variables related to the learning environment such as social interaction and access to learning resources. Data were collected from 54 students in grades X and XI and analyzed using Ministep software version 5.3.1.0. The results indicated that the majority of students experienced a positive learning environment (46.3%) and adequate (50%), with only 3.7% experiencing a less favorable learning environment. The analysis also identified 9 students as outliers, indicating inconsistencies in questionnaire responses. Factors affecting the learning environment included teacher engagement, the physical conditions of the classrooms, and the availability of stationery and textbooks. These findings underline the importance of a conducive learning environment to enhance student motivation and learning outcomes. The Rasch Model and Ministep software were effective in ensuring the validity and reliability of the research instrument, providing accurate and consistent data for further analysis. The study offers practical recommendations for enhancing the learning environment in schools across Indonesia.

Abstract

Creativity is a main concern in the 21st-century curriculum, but this is rarely implemented in the physics learning process in schools. This research aims to produce a STEM-PjBL-oriented static fluid teaching module worthy of its validity and practicality. This research is development research using the ADDIE model. The research trial subjects were 32 students in class XI 1 SMA consisting of 16 men and 16 women. Data was obtained through module validation sheets and teaching module implementation sheets. The data analysis technique is descriptive, qualitative, and quantitative. The expert and practitioner validation results obtained validity and reliability values for the teaching module of 3.46 and 0.60 with very valid and reliable categories. Apart from that, the results of observing student activities in STEM-PjBL can be carried out very well. In this way, the STEM-PjBL module that has been developed is suitable for use in physics learning.
