Abstract

Abstract

The limited use of engaging and varied learning media in Indonesian elementary schools has resulted in conventional teacher-centered learning patterns, particularly affecting subjects requiring active engagement such as Pancasila Education. This study aimed to develop valid, practical, and effective Powtoon-based learning media for fourth-grade Pancasila Education using systematic instructional design principles. This Research and Development study employed the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) across three elementary schools in Padang City, Indonesia. The research involved 69 fourth-grade students and utilized expert validation questionnaires, teacher and student practicality assessments, and pre-test/post-test measures to evaluate media quality and learning effectiveness. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics and N-Gain calculations. Expert validation yielded an overall score of 89.3% ("Very Valid"), with material (96%), language (86%), and media (86%) components meeting high-quality standards. Practicality assessment demonstrated exceptional acceptance with teacher ratings averaging 93.3% and student responses averaging 84.4% ("Very Practical"). Learning effectiveness analysis revealed significant improvement across all schools, with N-Gain scores averaging 0.65 ("Medium" effectiveness) and post-test improvements ranging from 14.31% to 16.9%. The systematic development process successfully created multimedia learning media that meets validity, practicality, and effectiveness criteria. The findings support social agency theory and cognitive load theory applications in elementary education, demonstrating that well-designed animated content can enhance student engagement and learning outcomes while maintaining practical classroom applicability for Pancasila Education instruction.

Abstract

Parenting is very important for the growth of the emotional intelligence of elementary school students. The purpose of this study is to find out how important appropriate parental behavior is in helping the development of children's emotional intelligence. The method used was the collection and analysis of ten nationally accredited journal articles related to the topic. The results showed that democratic parenting that involves child involvement and emotional support can help children grow positive emotional intelligence. In contrast, authoritarian or permissive parenting tends to inhibit the development of children's emotional intelligence. These findings confirm that parents play an important role in shaping students' emotional intelligence by implementing effective parenting. Thus, understanding and implementing appropriate parenting strategies by parents so that children can develop good emotional intelligence for future success.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effect of using ice breaking in increasing students' learning motivation in primary schools. The research method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach that focuses on learning motivation. Identification of literature sources is done through literature searches in academic databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and digital libraries. The results of the analysis show that the application of ice breaking in primary school learning has a positive and significant impact on students' learning motivation. Ice breaking can restore students' concentration and make them more active, enthusiastic, and focused in learning, so that it can improve their learning outcomes. Learning motivation is an important factor in learning, because it can affect various abilities and student learning outcomes. Therefore, teachers need to understand and foster learning motivation in students through ice breaking in the learning process so that students can succeed in learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teacher strategies in integrating basic mathematics concepts of plane and solid shapes with the daily lives of second-grade elementary school students. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. The subjects were a second-grade teacher and three students with different ability levels (high, medium, low) at SDN 03 Bandar Buat. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques. The results show: (1) in the preparation stage, teachers prepare teaching modules, select concrete media, and plan varied methods; (2) in the implementation stage, teachers use contextual apperception, manipulative media, interactive questioning methods, and gradual learning; (3) obstacles include differences in student abilities, limited media, and lack of parental participation; (4) teacher efforts include individual approaches, use of real objects, and continuous assessment; (5) evaluation is conducted through observation, questioning, assignments, and presentations. The use of concrete media and connection to daily life proved effective in improving students' understanding of geometry concepts, although mastery levels vary according to individual abilities.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of learning outcomes among fifth-grade elementary school students in mathematics. The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model in improving students' learning outcomes in mathematics. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, consisting of two cycles: Cycle I with two meetings and Cycle II with one meeting. The analysis results show that after conducting the research in Cycle II, the knowledge scores increased to 90%, categorized as good. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model is effective in improving mathematics learning outcomes for fifth-grade elementary school students. Based on the research results showing a significant improvement in students’ mathematics learning outcomes through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model, it is recommended that teachers and school authorities systematically integrate the Problem-Based Learning model into the mathematics learning process in fifth-grade classes.
