Abstract

This paper presents a Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) parameter optimization method for direct current (dc) motors. The method utilizes a metaheuristic technique known as Frilled Lizard Optimization (FLO), which is inspired by natural processes. FLO draws inspiration from the lizard's hunting method of employing a sit-and-wait approach with great patience. The method is divided into two distinct phases: the exploration phase, which simulates a swift predator attack by a lizard, and the exploitation phase, which imitates the lizard's return to the treetop after feeding. This study confirms the effectiveness of FLO by conducting performance tests on the CEC2017 benchmark function and a DC motor. Through the simulations conducted on the CEC2017 benchmark function, it has been determined that FLO has superior exploration and exploitation capabilities. When testing a DC motor, it was discovered that the PID-FLO approach is effective in reducing overshoot and achieving optimal performance

Abstract

With the advancement of wireless communication technology, appropriate solutions such as LoRa SX1278, a long-range intermediate module with a wider range of IoT applications have become available. Nevertheless, problems still exist, especially in Non-Line of Sight (N-LoS) circumstances that can favor transmission. On the other hand, the demand for more effective motors in the household sector is growing, where DC motors provide purchasing managers with advanced and low-cost direct control capabilities over AC induction motors. Suggested approaches include the use of omni-directional antennas to increase the transmission range of LoRa as well as the application of DC motors to improve operational efficiency. This work develops the necessary techniques to increase the communication range of LoRa and optimize the use of DC motors in a small industrial setting. The research procedure consisted of investigating the automatic control of a 12V DC motor using an Arduino Uno and a DHT22 temperature sensor, and the study of remote control via LoRa SX1278 with switching mode logic. The tests conducted confirmed that the percentage error of DC motor control was 0.78%, 0.42%, and 0.26% in each category, respectively. There is also a clear 600m and 6250m data transmission range on the LoRa in two different locations, featuring the same switching logic. In summary, the embellishment of LoRa SX1278 through omni-directional antenna anchoring and mode switching logic on the LoRa SX1278-based DC motor control system displays efficient operation and extended transmission range, thus offering antimicrobial potential in household industrial applications.

Abstract

One kind of electric motor that runs on direct current (DC) is called a DC (Direct Current) motor.  This motor uses the interaction of electric current and magnetic fields to transform electrical energy into mechanical energy, or motion.  Applications requiring exact speed and torque control frequently use DC motors.  By minimizing errors (differences between setpoints and actual values), proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control is a control technique used to govern dynamic systems to reach desired conditions (setpoints).  PID creates an ideal control signal by combining three elements. The Modified Tornado optimizer-based Coriolis force (TOC) method for DC motor control is presented in this article.   The paradigm for the TOC approach is the Tornado Optimizer-Based Coriolis Force Algorithm, a metaheuristic that leverages tornado dynamics and the effect of the Coriolis force to address difficult optimization problems.   According to this study, the TOC method can be improved by implementing the Levy Flight methodology.   According to the results of tests employing optimal functions, the LTOC technique may broaden exploration and exploitation.   Meanwhile, when the LTOC technique is applied as a DC motor controller, the optimal overshoot response value is achieved. The LTOC approach outperforms the TOC method by 0.014% and 0.037%, respectively, in terms of ITSE and ITAE values.

Abstract

Direct disposal of untreated laundry wastewater contributes to environmental pollution, with TSS (Total Suspended Solid) levels reaching 600 mg/L, far exceeding the 100 mg/L limit set by East Java Governor Regulation No. 72 of 2013. This research aims to develop an automated treatment system using an ESP32-S3 microcontroller integrated with pH, TSS, and temperature sensors, with real-time monitoring through the ThingsBoard platform. The DC motor serves as an actuator for the mixing and chemical feeding process. System testing showed the DC motor control had a 100% rate in processing TSS levels and 95% in reducing pH levels. On IoT data transmission, the average delay was 4 seconds for turbidity and 5 seconds for pH. Processing effectiveness was classified as 71% “Feasible,” 5% “Very Feasible,” and 19% “Less Feasible.” While there are some limitations, the system shows potential for adaptive wastewater treatment, which requires further improvements in sensor calibration and control reliability.

Abstract

Metaheuristic algorithms have garnered significant attention in the field of optimization due to their ability to address complex, nonlinear, and combinatorial problems where conventional exact methods are often impractical. Inspired by natural phenomena, social behaviors, and physical processes, these algorithms provide near-optimal solutions within reasonable computational time by balancing exploration and exploitation. This paper presents a comprehensive review of metaheuristic algorithms, categorizing them into single-solution-based and population-based approaches. It further discusses hybrid and adaptive variants designed to overcome limitations such as premature convergence and parameter sensitivity. The study highlights the advantages, disadvantages, and practical applications of various metaheuristics across diverse domains including engineering, logistics, artificial intelligence, energy systems, and bioinformatics offering researchers a structured guide for selecting appropriate algorithms based on problem characteristics.
