Abstract

DC motors are a popular topic because they are widely applied in various electronic equipment. So, this requires a control that is fast and reliable. The development of optimized control methods is growing rapidly with the discovery of several new methods. Marine predator algorithm (MPA) is an optimization method based on marine life between living things. This article discusses the application of the MPA method for optimizing fractional order PID (FOPID) control on DC motors. The implementation of the FOPID controller is also difficult because the fractional calculus operators of the FOPID controller cannot be directly implemented in numerical calculations. The method proposed in this article is the FOPID-MPA method. To get a performance test of the proposed method, this study uses several comparison methods, namely the seagull optimization algorithm (ASO), chimp optimization algorithm (ChOA), and sine tree seed algorithm (STSA). This study also uses a variation of the reference speed to get the performance of the proposed method. From the experiment it is known that the FOPID-MPA method gives the best performance. The FOPID-MPA method has an overshoot value of 4.34% compared to the PID-MPA method in case study 1 and has an integrated of time-weighted-squared-error (ITSE) value of 7.44% better than the PID-MPA method in case study 2.

Abstract

This paper presents the reptile search algorithm (RSA) method to optimize the proportional integral derivative (PID) parameters on direct current (DC) motors. RSA was adopted from crocodile hunting behavior. Crocodile behavior is modeled in two important steps: surrounding and attacking prey. The RSA method was applied using twenty-three classical test functions. The search method of the proposed RSA method with other existing algorithms such as particle swarm optimization (PSO), and differential evolution (DE). Integral multiplied by absolute error (ITAE) and integral of time multiplied squared error (ITSE) were used as comparisons in measuring the performance of the RSA method. The results show that the proposed method, namely RSA, has better efficiency. Optimization of PID parameters with RSA on DC motor control shows superior performance. From the experiment, the ITSE average value of the RSA method is 4.17% better than the conventional PID method.

Abstract

Power system stabilizer (PSS) is applied to dampen system oscillations so that the frequency does not deviate beyond tolerance. PSS parameter tuning is increasingly difficult when dealing with complex and nonlinear systems. This paper presents a novel hybrid algorithm developed from incorporating chaotic maps into the sea-horse optimizer. The algorithm developed is called the chaotic sea-horse optimizer (CSHO). The proposed method is adopted from the metaheuristic method, namely the sea-horse optimizer (SHO). The SHO is a method that duplicates the life of a sea-horse in the ocean when it moves, looks for prey and breeds.  In This paper, The CSHO method is used to tune the power system stabilizer parameters on a single machine system. The proposed method validates the benchmark function and performance on a single machine system against transient response. Several metaheuristic methods are used as a comparison to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method. From the research, it was found that the application of the logistics Tent map from the chaotic map showed optimal performance. In addition, the application of the PSS shows effective and efficient performance in reducing overshoot in transient conditions.

Abstract

The article presents the parameter tuning of the Power System Stabilizer (PSS) using the hybrid method. The hybrid methods proposed in this article are Praire Dog Optimization (PDO) and Marine Predator Algorithm (MPA). The proposed method can be called PDOMPA. In the PDOMPA method, the marine predator algorithm (MPA) is able to search around optimal individuals when updating population positions. MPA is used to make the exploration and exploitation stages of PDO more valid and accurate. PDO is an algorithm inspired by the life of prairie dogs. Prairie dogs are adapted to colonizing in burrows underground. Prairie dogs have daily habits of eating, observing for predators, establishing fresh burrows, or preserving existing ones. Meanwhile, MPA is a duplication of marine predator life which is modeled mathematically. In order to validate the performance of the PDOMPA method, this article presents a comparative simulation of the objective function and the transient response of PSS. This research uses validation by comparing with conventional methods, Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA), Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm (GOA), Marine Predator Algorithm (MPA), and Praire Dog Optimization (PDO). Based on the simulation results, PDOMPA presents fast convergence in some cases and shows optimal results compared to competitive algorithms. From the simulation results using load variations, it was found that the proposed method has the ability to reduce the average undershoot and overshoot of speed by 42.2% and 85.37% compared to the PSS-Lead Lag method. Meanwhile the average settling time value of speed is 50.7%.

Abstract

In this research, a modified Osprey optimization algorithm (MOOA) is presented to optimize droop control parameters. MOOA is a modification of the Osprey optimization algorithm by adding levy flight which has the advantage of exploiting a wider space and being adaptive to environmental changes. This research also modifies droop control, Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) is applied to secondary control. PID has flexibility in responding to changes in system conditions and fast response in dealing with system changes. The PID parameters are optimized using MOOA and are called MOOA-PID. The MOOA method is validated using 23 CEC2017 benchmarks-function and performance on DC microgrid systems. This research uses the latest algorithms as a comparison, namely One-to-One Based Optimizer (OOBO), Preschool Educational Optimization Algorithm (PEOA), and the red-tailed hawk (RTH) algorithm in testing 23 CEC2017 benchmark functions. From the simulation of the 23 CEC2017 benchmark function, it is known that the MOOA method has better capabilities. MOOA has advantages in 15 out of 23 benchmark functions. In DC microgrid system testing, MOOA-PID is compared with the Proportional Integral (PI) method which is optimized with MOOA and is called MOOA-PI. Testing on the microgrid is aimed at determining the performance of the transient response of power, voltage and current in the system. Tests on DC microgrid systems found that the application of MOOA-PID in secondary control had better capabilities than MOOA-PI. The average value of voltage overshoot from MOOA-PID is 9.828% better than MOOA-PI. The average ITSE MOOA-PID score is 22.3% better than MOOA-PI.

Abstract

Many people in Indonesia keep freshwater ornamental fish, including guppy fish (Poecilia reticulata), green growth fish (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri), neon tetra fish (Paracheirodon innesi). Neon tetra fish are popular because of their distinctive striking and bright body lines, while guppy fish are kept because of their ease of care and beautiful color variations, especially in male guppies. Guppy fish can grow well at temperatures of 22°C - 27°C and pH 6.5-7.2. Because managers are busy, this becomes an obstacle in fish cultivation, because the water quality that determines fish development becomes unstable. The results of the PLTS output test for 7 days 7 hours per day from 09.00 – 15.00 WIB can charge the battery with an average voltage of 13.89 V and an average current of 1.2 A and an average power of 14.15 W and can run for 24 hours. O'clock. Testing the battery for 7 days and 7 hours from 09.00 – 15.00 WIB can meet power needs for 24 hours with an average battery voltage of 13.36 V and an average current of 0.71 A. Meanwhile, the test results for the servo motor with a feed weight of 2, 45 grams and a servo motor delay of 2 seconds. Testing the pH of the water using a pH pump showed a change from the initial value of 8.06 to 6.91 and was measured with the PH4502C sensor. Tests without a PH pump showed an increase in changes from the initial pH value of 7.76 to 8.05.

Abstract

In new renewable energy, the abundant potential of solar energy in Indonesia needs to be utilized effectively, especially in vocational canteens for the purposes of lights and fans. This research aims to design and build an off-grid solar power generation system and Node-Red-based monitoring at the Canteen. The research method used is experimentation through direct observation at the vocational canteen. The tests carried out are the system of SPGS which includes voltage, current, and power and testing monitoring by system sensors and temperature sensors for 5 hours per day in two days. The results obtained are the voltage in the system both panel voltage, AC voltage, and battery voltage are stable and do not exceed the specifications of solar panels. However, the current has increased and decreased although not too drastically and the battery has only decreased by 10%. This is due to the influence of the weather during testing and is not affected by the load power because it does not exceed specifications. In addition, the system sensor has an error of no more than 2% so it can be said that if this system functions optimally and as expected, it can be developed more to save energy.
