Abstract

Performance Measurement System (PMS) including Performance Accountability is the obligation of every institution to be implemented accurately and measurably. Government AgencAy Performance Accountability System (SAKIP) which has been regulated in PP no. 29 of 2014 contains regulations of the President of the Republic of Indonesia regarding general regulations for the implementation of SAKIP. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the PMS factors on the implementation of SAKIP in the Jambi provincial government by connecting the 5 factors of the PMS and the implementation of SAKIP that influenced them. Specifically, the objects or parts of local government organizations that can explain this problem are the existing agencies, agencies and bureaus or regional apparatus organizations that are under the auspices of the provincial government. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The warp Partial Least Square (warpPLS) program is a variance-based data processing program created to solve the problems caused by covariance-based SEM. This study hypothesizes the influence of the PMS factors on the implementation of SAKIP. The activities carried out began with submitting proposals to the Jambi provincial government, which then sought data directly or through third parties. Students as enumerators are used to search for data in the field. Primary data used comes from provincial government officials, while secondary data is obtained using the services of parties who are not directly involved with Jambi provincial government policies. The research was conducted by directly observing the Jambi governor's office and was also carried out using only information technology via the internet network. So that the information obtained does come from data sources that are truly valid, reliable and trustworthy.

Abstract

Based on the results of the 2021 National Assessment (NA), show that Indonesia is experiencing a literacy emergency. This is because 1 out of 2 students has not reached the minimum literacy competency. This research aimed to explore the challenges or barriers faced by teachers in increasing students' reading interest using digital media and to explore their strategies to overcome the barriers. The participant of this research is an English teacher from SMA Adhyaksa 1 Jambi, which was selected based on several criteria. In this research, a descriptive qualitative method was applied, in which the researcher attempts to draw in as much detail as possible the data and facts collected in the field. A semi-structured interview was conducted to collect the main data, and documentation in the form of photos when observing the research location was carried out to support the data. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model. The findings revealed that barriers faced by the teacher in integrating digital media into teaching include constraints in supporting facilities and adapting to student's understanding of using digital media. Meanwhile, there are three strategies employed by the teacher, namely making preparations before the start of learning, providing material relevant to daily life, and using relevant digital media to enhance students' reading interest. Overall, this research shows several barriers faced by teachers in integrating digital media with learning to increase students' reading interest and highlights the strategies implemented by teachers to overcome these problems. Thus, it is suggested for future researchers who are interested in this field to find research gaps and use this research as a reference or comparison.

Abstract

This qualitative study explores the examined intersection of cognitive theory and emotional support in English Foreign Language (EFL) pedagogy by examining how experienced lecturers integrate frameworks like Universal Grammar, the Zone of Proximal Development, and Piagetian stages into their teaching. By linking psycholinguistic theory with classroom practice, the research highlights the combined role of cognitive and emotional scaffolding in supporting second language acquisition. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns and core themes related to the integration of theory and practice. In conclusion, the analysis revealed three main findings: lecturers employed implicit scaffolding aligned with theoretical constructs, prioritized emotional safety to support cognitive risk-taking, and faced challenges applying theory across culturally diverse classrooms effective EFL pedagogy.

Abstract

This paper investigates how Indonesian English language and science teachers in Jambi municipality perceive the relationship between national identity and local culture in English and Science teaching. Through thematic analysis, the study explores teachers’ understanding toward the role of national identity in English and Science teaching as well as the challenges and strategies teachers encounter in integrating national identity into their teaching practices by the inclusion of local culture, emphasizing the importance of Jambi cultural context in the teaching. The research results reveal a number of findings such as teachers’ beliefs that exploring national identity in the classroom can help students develop a sense of belonging and awareness of their place in a multicultural world. However, they express varying degrees of emphasis on national identity, with some advocating for a bigger portion of context of local culture, while others may prioritize students’ development of English mastery no matter what culture is embedded. Teachers also report challenges and strategies employed, for instance the conduction of collaborative learning to help students learn from each other’s perspectives, designing inclusive teaching materials to include diverse perspectives of national identity, and enhancing teachers’ understanding of cultural sensitivity and identity issues. To conclude, it is recommended to build adequate support for a balanced English and Science teaching designs that respect and celebrate national identity while, at the same time, be able to prepare students for global engagement. By fostering the integration of local and global perspectives, English and Science education in Indonesia will be able to create English and Science teaching environment that empowers students as both national and global citizens.

Abstract

This study investigates the phenomenon of politeness violations in digital live streaming interactions, focusing on gaming content on YouTube a platform increasingly characterized by the prevalence of “toxic” language, including harsh, derogatory, and provocative expressions. Such discourse poses a growing challenge to communication ethics and character education in the technological era. The research aims to analyze specific types of politeness principle violations and their implications for character formation and digital communication practices. Adopting a qualitative approach through observation, documentation, and interviews, the study found that violations most frequently targeted the principles of tact and generosity. Notably, these utterances were not merely spontaneous outbursts but deliberate strategies of performative impoliteness, designed to construct a particular self-image and amplified by platform algorithms seeking engagement. The novelty of this research lies in its integration of linguistic analysis, digital ethics, and character education within the context of real-time live streaming—a convergence rarely explored in prior studies. This interdisciplinary approach provides unique insights into how algorithm-driven platforms can normalize verbal aggression, influencing audience psychology and diminishing empathy values, particularly among student viewers. The findings highlight the urgent need to expand digital literacy education to encompass the ethical dimensions of communication, not just technical proficiency. The study recommends incorporating polite language awareness and ICT ethics into curricula to foster respectful, constructive interaction in online spaces.

Abstract

This research investigates how parents support their children's English language development. Interviews with the parents of a nine-year-old Indonesian girl named Acha (pseudonym) were conducted to learn more about how they perceived their involvement in their daughter's development of English-speaking abilities. When the research was conducted, Acha was a third grader at an elementary school with 364 subscribers on her YouTube channel. Her competence in speaking English is exhibited in her YouTube videos. This research indicates that Acha’s English language acquisition process has involved her parents’ interventions directly and indirectly. This research reveals several helpful practices performed by Acha's parents, including early exposure to simple vocabulary, a positive home literacy environment (HLE) situation, encouragement of Acha to use English, and facilitation of Acha's access to English-language YouTube content. According to the results of this research, Acha's parents' practices are mediated by their educational experiences, socioeconomic status, and digital literacy skills. This research demonstrates the beneficial effects of parental participation on children's language development.
