Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using the Project Based Learning model integrated with Oral Corrective Feedback in teaching academic writing in tertiary institutions. This form of research uses an experimental methodology and is quantitative in nature. Matching Pretest-Post-Test Control Group Design was used as the research methodology. This research data collection strategy uses tests. The test given is a performance test, in which students make scientific articles to be published in journals. The research data processing technique was SPSS 17. Based on the findings and discussion it can be concluded that the use of the PjBL model integrated with Oral Corrective Feedback is more effective than using the PjBL model alone to teach students academic writing in the field. Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program, Padang State University. The use of this model is one of the innovations in learning based on the latest curriculum by integrating innovative language learning methods in learning in tertiary institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation of environmental vocabulary mastery with writing skills of class XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Kinali. This study was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Kinali on class XI students which was held in January 2026. The population in this study were all class XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Kinali, totaling 169 people and the sample in this study were 34 class XI students taken using random sampling techniques. The instruments used in this study were objective and performance tests. The tool used to analyze the data was a correlational research formula assisted by Microsoft Excel. The mastery of environmental vocabulary in class XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Kinali was in more than sufficient qualifications (75.08). The skills of writing news texts of class XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Kinali were in good qualifications (76.72). Then the correlation of environmental vocabulary mastery with news text writing skills of class XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Kinali was analyzed using the product moment formula. Based on the results of the correlation calculation, the value of rhitung> rtable was 0.944> 0.339. The correlation is positive, which means the relationship between the two variables is parallel, namely the higher the mastery of environmental vocabulary in students, the higher the students' news text writing skills. The results of the hypothesis test show that the t count (16.174) is greater than the t table (2.034). Based on the results of the hypothesis test, it is concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Acceptance of H1 can be interpreted that there is a significant relationship between environmental vocabulary mastery and news text writing skills of class XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Kinali.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low short story writing skills of grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 V Koto Kampung Dalam, where the average student performance had not reached the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) of 75. This study aimed to describe students' short story writing skills before and after the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model assisted by audiovisual media, and to analyze the effect of this model on students' writing skills. This was a quantitative study using an experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The population consisted of all grade XI students, with a sample of 25 students from class XI F6 selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via short story writing performance tests and analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis (t-test) tests. The results showed that the average short story writing score before using the Project-Based Learning model assisted by audiovisual media was 47.88 (Nearly Sufficient), while it increased to 71.38 (More than Sufficient) after the intervention. Hypothesis testing indicated that the t-count was greater than the t-table (7.51 > 1.98), leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1). Thus, it is concluded that the Project-Based Learning model assisted by audiovisual media has a significant influence on the short story writing skills of grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 V Koto Kampung Dalam.
