Abstract

Adolescents are developing self-maturity, so they should have the correct views to become a person with a positive self-concept. Therefore, this period requires the role of parents. The parental roles include educating, teaching, disciplining, and protecting children to reach adulthood according to social norms. However, adolescents prefer to spend time with their peers, so peers are dominant in influential and modeling aspects of adolescents' sexual behavior with their partners. One of the behaviors compulsorily concerned is human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) prevention behavior. This study aimed to determine the relationship between characteristics, communication quality, parenting, peer roles, and HIV/AIDS prevention behavior in adolescents at “Y” Senior High School in North Jakarta. This study employed a cross-sectional research design. Samples were taken using the purposive sampling technique, and 208 students were obtained from 432 students. Gender, parental communication quality, and peer roles affected HIV/AIDS prevention behavior. The dominant variable was parental communication quality (OR=0.509). After controlling for gender and peer role characteristics, adolescents with strong parental communication quality were 0.51 times more likely to participate in HIV/AIDS-positive preventive activities than those with poor parental communication quality. Adolescents are expected to communicate with their parents, especially about sexual issues, more openly.

Kata kunci: Hipertensi, Lansia, Rendam Kaki, Terapi   ABSTRACT The World Health Organization (WHO) states that hypertension or high blood pressure is a serious medical condition that significantly increases the risk of heart disease, brain disorders, kidney disease, and other illnesses. The high prevalence of hypertension in this region highlights the need for special attention to prevention and treatment efforts. Warm foot soak therapy with the addition of Epsom salt has a relaxing effect that can help lower blood pressure. A community service activity was conducted involving 40 elderly participants. There was an improvement in public knowledge about hypertension, with the "good" category increasing from 47.5% to 57.5%. Based on bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test, the coefficient value for the knowledge variable was <0.014 (p-value <0.05). This result indicates that H0 is rejected, meaning there is a significant relationship between counseling and demonstrations with participants' knowledge. Following health education activities for the elderly on hypertension, an increase in their knowledge about hypertension was observed. This improvement in knowledge was also influenced by health education delivered through lectures, demonstrations, and supporting factors. Keywords: Hypertension, Elderly, Foot Soak, Therapy

This study aims to determine the effect of perceptions of social support and family health tasks on HIV/AIDS prevention behavior in adolescents in Baros Village, Serang, Banten. This study employed a quantitative research method with a cross-sectional design. The number of samples was 345 adolescents who were at risk of HIV/AIDS in Baros Village, Serang, Banten. Sampling from each class administering stratified sampling method. Researchers reproduced research questionnaires with an offline system which had previously been examined for the validity and reliability of a number of samples that have been calculated. Furthermore, for research questionnaires with an online system, distribution is conducted via a link from the google form. The chi-square test was administered to examine HIV/AIDS prevention behavior variables. A logistic regression test was used to see the most influential factors on HIV/AIDS prevention behavior. The results revealed a relationship between gender and family health tasks in recognizing HIV/AIDS prevention behavior problems in adolescents in Baros Village, Serang, Banten, with a p-value <0.05. The factor that most influenced HIV/AIDS prevention behavior was the family health task in recognizing problems with a p-value of 0.007 <0.05 with the largest OR value obtained, which is 1.978. Abstract

Background:  Ageism negatively impacts older adults’ health, especially in long-term care facilities (LTCFs), where healthcare workers often hold unfavorable views of them. Understanding these perspectives is vital for combating ageism and improving LTCF quality. Yet, comprehensive studies on healthcare workers’ attitudes toward ageism are lacking, hindering targeted interventions. Therefore, grasping their attitudes and behaviors is crucial for addressing ageism in LTCFs and enhancing care for older adults.Purpose: This study aimed to explore healthcare workers’ expectations regarding aging and their perspective on ageism towards older adults in LTCFs.Methods: This study was randomly conducted in sixteen LTCFs across Indonesia’s five largest islands using a cross-sectional study with a comparative descriptive design. Participants included 56 nurses and 173 non-licensed caregivers. Data on aging expectations and ageism perspectives during the COVID-19 pandemic were collected. An online and offline self-administered questionnaires (i.e., participant’s characteristics, the expectations regarding aging survey, ageism perspective in time of the COVID-19 pandemic) were conducted. Differences between nurses and caregivers were analyzed using chi-square and independent t-tests.Results: Altogether, 56 nurses and 173 caregivers (with an average age of 39.9 years) participated in the study. Significant differences were observed between nurses and non-licensed caregivers in their expectations regarding physical health, mental health, and overall expectations regarding aging (p-value = <0.001, <0.001, <0.001, respectively). Non-licensed caregivers had higher mean scores for each item compared to nurses. Whereas, the perspective nurse and non-licensed caregivers were significantly different about older adults being more accessible to being infected with SARS-CoV-2, vulnerable population, prone to severity, easier to expose virus, low income, must isolated (p-value = 0.029, 0.007, 0.010, 0.033, <0.001, <0.001, respectively). The mean score of each item of nurses was higher than non-licensed caregivers. Conclusion: The expectation regarding aging of caregivers was higher than nurses. In line, the nurses’ scores have a lower attitude toward ageism during time COVID-19 pandemic. Exposure to ageism behavior and ageing conditions needs to be done for healthcare workers.
