Abstract

Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) markers are essential tools for the genetic management and breeding of rice, enabling precise characterization of genetic diversity. However, SNP datasets specifically developed for analyzing the population structure of Indonesian local rice remain limited. This study aimed to identify polymorphic SNP markers and analyze the lineage and population structure of 244 Indonesian local rice accessions. BAM files of these accessions were obtained from the 3K Rice Genome Project via the International Rice Informatics Consortium. High-quality SNPs were generated through variant calling and stringent filtering, followed by annotation and population analyses using IR64, DJ123, and Nipponbare as references. A total of 3,839,961 high-quality SNP loci were identified across the 12 rice chromosomes. Hierarchical clustering and principal coordinate analysis consistently grouped the accessions into three major clusters, corresponding to Indica, Japonica, and admixed groups. Population structure analysis confirmed two main subpopulations: Indica and Japonica, with Japonica further divided into Temperate and Tropical subgroups. Eleven accessions showed admixed ancestry. This study provides essential insights into the genetic diversity and population structure of Indonesian local rice, supporting genetic resource conservation, trait discovery, and breeding efforts.

Abstract

This study explored a program aimed at designing cross-cultural STEM trails in three regions of an archipelagic country to enhance students' mathematical literacy. The research employed an exploratory mixed-methods design, involving 30 prospective teachers, in-service teachers, and lecturers and 50 students. Data were collected through observations, interviews, documentation, and mathematical literacy tests. They were analyzed using qualitative coding/triangulation and ANOVA. The study took place in three cities located on different islands during the 2024 academic year. The study began with implementation of a teacher training program to equip them with the necessary skills to design STEM Trails using the stemtrails.id platform. This application was developed in previous research. The trails were designed to integrate STEM contexts, cultural themes, and landmark elements in three Indonesian cities. Students used the trails to learn mathematical literacy and gain insight into the cultures of other regions. The location of tasks and trails in remote areas prompted task authors to innovate task design using technologies such as 3D printing. This technology facilitates student exploration, as with general math trails, but also incorporates miniature object models relevant to the tasks. The teacher selected project-based learning as an appropriate model for this strategy. The results demonstrated measurable improvements in mathematical literacy, with average post-test scores rising from M = 68.4 (SD = 9.3) to M = 81.7 (SD = 8.6), t(142) = 9.21, p < .001. Cross-island cultural triangulation fostered collaborative learning across geographically separated regions, thereby demonstrating a strategy for overcoming archipelagic barriers. The model can be expanded to other regions through digital integration and culturally grounded STEM task design. In this way, it can offer a pathway for nationwide application.

Abstract

ABSTRACTCultivation of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) needs fertile soils to optimize the yield, however since the fertile land become limited, cultivation of eggplant needs to utilize sub optimal landssuch as salin soils. The objective of the research was to analyze morphological and physiologicalresponses of six eggplant genotypes (collection of the Center for Tropical Horticulture Studies), todetermine the tolerance of genotypes to salinity stress to be used as tolerant parents in eggplantbreeding program. The research was a factorial experiment. It was designed as randomized blockdesign with two factors, which were genotype factor (6 genotypes) and salinity factor (0, 2-4, 5-7, 8-10 mS cm-1) with 5 replications. The research was conducted in greenhouse using pot. Themorphological evaluation included shoot length, number of leaves, fruit weight, number of branches, shoot biomass, root biomass, and the physiological characters included photosynthesis rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, CO2 intercelluler, leaf relative water contents, and prolineaccumulation. The results showed that salinity stress decreased all morphological as well asphysiological characters in all genotypes, except for proline accumulation that showed increase asthe salinity increase. Based on the stress susceptivility index (SSI), there was no eggplant genotypesclassified as tolerant to salinity. However, there were two eggplant genotypes, i.e., number 061 and072, classified as moderat genotypes to salinity stress. Keywords: proline, sensitive, stress susceptibility index, tolerantABSTRAKBudidaya terung (Solanum melongena L.) membutuhkan tanah yang subur untukmengoptimalkan hasil panen, namun karena lahan subur menjadi terbatas, maka dalam budidayaterung memerlukan pemanfaatan lahan suboptimal seperti tanah yang bersifat salin. Abstract

This study aims to analyse students' ability to understand and solve data processing problems, especially on mean (average), median (middle value), and mode (most frequently occurring value). The form of research used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of observation and in-depth interviews and documentation. analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results showed that students had understood the basic concept of median and were able to solve problems independently with good accuracy. On mean material, students have an understanding of the concept but still need encouragement and direction from the teacher in the process of solving problems, especially when facing more data and more complex work steps. On mode, students can identify the most frequently occurring value correctly but have not been able to think analytically so that the answers given are still inaccurate. The interactive and contextual learning process proved effective in helping APs deepen their understanding of concepts and improve their critical and analytical thinking skills. The implication of this finding is the need for reinforcement and continuous practice to increase APs' independence and confidence in solving data processing problems. Keywords: Contextual Approach, Mean, Median, Modus
