Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PPM) ini dilaksanakan bersama mitra Amor’s Kitchen, sebuah usaha kuliner di Malang yang memproduksi donat, brownies, dan berbagai jenis camilan. Analisis situasi menunjukkan bahwa meskipun mitra menghasilkan produk berkualitas tinggi, mereka menghadapi keterbatasan dalam strategi promosi, khususnya dalam pemanfaatan media sosial. Program ini menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR), yang melibatkan partisipasi aktif mitra pada setiap tahap kegiatan. Tujuan program ini adalah untuk meningkatkan daya beli konsumen melalui pelatihan dan praktik langsung dalam pengembangan media sosial serta strategi promosi digital. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi analisis kebutuhan, pembuatan akun media sosial, pelatihan fotografi dan videografi produk, serta pendampingan dalam implementasi konten promosi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa mitra kini telah memiliki akun media sosial aktif, mampu memproduksi foto dan video secara mandiri, serta mulai mendapatkan interaksi positif dari calon pelanggan. Jumlah pengikut akun meningkat dan beberapa pesanan produk telah diterima melalui media sosial. Kegiatan tindak lanjut difokuskan pada konsistensi unggahan, penerapan iklan digital, pengelolaan data pelanggan, serta evaluasi efektivitas strategi promosi. Program ini diharapkan dapat memberdayakan Amor’s Kitchen untuk mengelola strategi promosi digital secara mandiri dan meningkatkan keberlanjutan usaha.

Abstract

There are two MSME business owners in the Malang area, namely Mustika Jamur and Sari Kedelai Alfi who need a solution to increase their sales after the pandemic. The solution to help two MSME business owners is the idea of ​​training activities and the practice of making business vlogs in English. This activity held at Mustika Jamur and Sari Kedelai Alfi in Malang. Location selection is based on MSME products operating in the food and/or beverage sector in the Malang area. There are four stages of activities that have been carried out, including (1) providing knowledge about the meaning and concept of business vlogs, (2) providing knowledge about techniques for making business vlogs, (3) preparing a script for making business vlogs in English, and ( 4) practice making business vlogs in English. The results of this community service activity have had a good impact on the selected MSMEs. They are able to create vlogs which are used as promotional media material for MSMEs to increase sales. Vlogs made in English are also expected to attract consumers from abroad.

Abstract

Pembelajaran online menjadi salah satu topik krusial di era pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi mahasiswa Bahasa Inggris terhadap penggunaan YouTube sebagai media pembelajaran online matakuliah English for MICE. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan kuesioner dan wawancara. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 23 mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa Inggris di Politeknik Negeri Malang yang mengikuti matakuliah English for MICE. Kuesioner dianalisis dengan menggunakan skala likert dan wawancara dianalisis secara kualitatif. Wawancara diajukan melalui lima pertanyaan dan hasilnya disajikan dalam bentuk persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan YouTube sebagai media pembelajaran secara online memberikan banyak efek positif terhadap penguasaan Bahasa Inggris mahasiswa pada matakuliah English for MICE. Di sisi lain, sebagian mahasiswa memberikan respon negatif sebab mereka mengalami koneksi internet ketika menggunakan YouTube, namun masalah tersebut dapat diselesaikan.

Abstract

Banyak sektor kehidupan yang terdampak oleh pandemi COVID-19. Bidang pendidikan berubah dari pembelajaran offline menjadi pembelajaran online. Kondisi ini juga mempengaruhi sektor ekonomi khususnya bagi UMKM (Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah). Menyikapi kondisi tersebut, pembelajaran speaking dilakukan secara online dirancang dalam bentuk pembuatan Vlog Bisnis yang berbasis pada mata kuliah English for Specific Purpose (ESP). Model pembelajaran ini bertujuan untuk memberikan peningkatan pada keterampilan speaking siswa dalam pembelajaran online melalui pembuatan vlog bisnis. Penelitian ini menyajikan analisis kuantitatif dan kualitatif dengan menggunakan data pre-test dan post-test, serta observasi. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 25 orang mahasiswa Bahasa Inggris yang mengambil matakuliah Speaking. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembuatan Vlog Bisnis berhasil memberikan peningkatan kemampuan speaking mahasiswa yang mengalami peningkatan sebesar rata-rata 27% pada aspek kosa kata, tata bahasa, kelancaran, pengucapan dan pemahaman.

Abstract

Monotonous speaking practice is carried out in classroom. This activity is only carried out by two-way communication between lecturers and students. It becomes problematic for students to practice speaking. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to innovate speaking learning models by utilizing technology. Vlog can be used as technology tool for speaking. The aim of this research is to identify the success of implementing project-based vlogs to improve students’ speaking skills. This research uses a combination research method, namely quantitative and qualitative. The research instrument uses observation sheets and pre-test and post-test scores. The research results show that the application of project-based learning with technology has succeeded in improving students’ speaking skills through creating students’ vlogs. The students’ speaking skill improved in the aspects of pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency and understanding. The research results can be concluded that project-based learning is very suitable to be implemented at the Politeknik Negeri Malang because it is in accordance with the objectives of providing vocational education. Based on these findings, students’ English vlogs can be used as learning models in speaking class.

Abstract

English for E-Tourism is a course in English for Tourism Industry. The goal of this course is designed to meet the needs of the tourism industry. This course is designed to produce electronic tourism products by using English. The problem faced is that students have lack of knowledge regarding to English for E-Tourism. The aim of this research is to identify students’ experiences in producing electronic tourism products as learning output in English for E-Tourism course. Data was taken from interviews and questionnaires. It is a case study in which is identifying student challenges and perception on English for E-Tourism. The research results show that students are able to think creatively to produce electronic tourism products, such as online tourism guidebooks and promotional videos. The research results were used as a learning model for English for E-Tourism in the future.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the implementation and the result of project-based learning by using vlog as the output of learning process to increase students’ speaking skill. This research used mixed methods design (qualitative and quantitative research). The result of this research was the implementation of PBL successfully improved students’ speaking skill in five crucial aspects of speaking, pronunciation, grammar, fluency, vocabularies and comprehension in average of 27% based on the post-test given to them. Then, there were 89% of the students from observation and questionnaire results agreed that this PBL implementation was helping them in the speaking online learning during Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This study was conducted in English Grammar for Content and Creative Writing class. Project-based learning using Wattpad is implemented as a teaching model to improve students’ writing skills. They will accomplish two creative writing projects. This study aims to identify the implementation of project-based learning using Wattpad and students’ perceptions towards it. This research implemented a case study. The data were obtained from observation and questionnaires. Most students give positive attitudes toward the use of Wattpad and they liked to use Wattpad as a writing platform.

Abstract

The use of mind map as collaborative learning activities in literary reading class will be examined. The students will choose any kind of technology tools to make a mind map in reading class. The aims of this study are to identify the implementation of using mind map in collaborative learning activities of a literary reading class and students’ perceptions on it. This is a mixed method research. The data are taken from observation and questionnaires. The observation results are used to analyze the implementation of using mind map in collaborative learning activities of a literary reading class. The questionnaires are used to identify students’ perception on it. This study results that the students had positive perception toward the use of mind map and believed that it helps them learn the materials faster, save more time in doing collaborative work, understand the relationship between ideas, and more motivated to read literary texts.

Abstract

One of the most crucial language aspects which the students should master is vocabulary. Students of D4 English for Business and Professional Communication, State Polytechnic of Malang with a restricted vocabulary are likewise limited in their listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities. It is difficult to learn a language without first acknowledging the vocabulary. Because of their restricted vocabularies, the students are unable to converse properly with one another. Eventually, with the help of various YouTube commercial videos, students could possibly work using their smartphones, tablets, or laptops while observing and analyzing the YouTube commercials that they watch. This could be beneficial since audiovisual materials have been proven to be good media to promote students’ fun and active learning. From the above explanation it could be inferred that this present study is aimed at enriching students’ vocabulary knowledge through the language of advertising on YouTube commercial videos. It is a case study. The purpose of the present research is to identify the use of language of advertising on YouTube commercial videos to enrich students’ vocabulary knowledge. The research instruments which will be used are observation, pre-test and post-test. The results of this study are students showed positive perceptions towards the use of YouTube commercial videos to enrich their vocabulary knowledge in English for Advertising class. The study also reveals that the use of YouTube commercial video in teaching and learning English gives positive impact to students’ English vocabulary acquisition and helpful for lecturer in delivering the topic to students.
