Abstract

Character education plays a crucial role in shaping students’ attitudes and behaviors starting from elementary school. One of the character traits that needs to be developed is responsibility and self-confidence in learning activities. This study aims to analyze the application of the professional role-playing method in Pancasila Education lessons and its impact on enhancing the responsibility and self-confidence of third-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 2 Kauman Surakarta. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. The research subjects consisted of Pancasila Education teachers and third-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included observation, semi structured interviews, and documentation. Data validity was tested through source triangulation and technique triangulation, while data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the professional role-playing method is effective in enhancing students’ sense of responsibility, as evidenced by their ability to complete tasks on time, fulfill their learning obligations, adhere to classroom rules, and correct mistakes. Additionally, this method boosts students’ self confidence, demonstrated through their willingness to present in front of the class, express their opinions, and engage in learning activities. However, its implementation still faces challenges such as variations in students’ self-confidence levels and limited class time.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of teachers in implementing Project Based Learning (PjBL) as a learning strategy to develop discipline and responsibility among sixth-grade elementary school students. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and students during the learning process. The results show that the implementation of PjBL fosters students’ discipline through habits of time management, adherence to rules, maintaining order, and self-regulation in social interactions. In addition, responsibility is developed through active participation in task completion, willingness to acknowledge mistakes, engagement in group work, and social awareness. Structured project activities encourage students to be more active and responsible in learning. This study is limited by its focus on a single school and the use of a qualitative approach that does not measure effects quantitatively. Therefore, future research is recommended to involve broader subjects and combine quantitative methods to examine the effectiveness of PjBL more comprehensively.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model based on joyful learning in PPKn learning in elementary schools and analyze its contribution to students' attitudes of responsibility and critical reasoning skills. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of PPKn teachers, the principal, and fifth-grade students at Bunderan Public Elementary School. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing to obtain systematic and valid findings. The results showed that the implementation of PBL based on joyful learning was carried out through the stages of problem orientation, student organization, investigation, presentation of results, and evaluation. Students' critical reasoning skills also improved through activities to analyze, evaluate, and conclude problems logically. Although there were still obstacles in the form of lack of participation of some students, these obstacles could be overcome through the role of teachers as facilitators and providing learning motivation. Overall, PBL based on joyful learning is effective in improving the character of responsibility and critical thinking skills of elementary school students.
