Abstract

Public interest in improving their quality of life through higher education continues to grow, as evidenced by the rapid growth of private universities. However, access to higher education remains unequal, particularly in rural areas. This study aims to examine the extent to which demand for higher education in Jambi Province is influenced by per capita income and population growth. Using a panel data design, this study analyzes data from 2018–2022 from six districts/cities in Jambi. The data were processed using panel data regression with the help of EViews 12 software. The model selection process (through the Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange Multiplier tests) showed that the Common Effect Model (CEM) was the most appropriate predictor for the data and research objectives. Empirically, the test results show that per capita income has a positive and significant effect on the demand for higher education. This indicates that increased economic capacity drives preference for higher education opportunities. Furthermore, population growth also has a substantial impact on the demand for higher education, confirming that demographic dynamics influence the public's need for access to this level of education. These findings indicate that the public tends to view higher education as an important means of improving living standards, both socially and economically. Therefore, higher education policies need to consider responses to income variations and demographic dynamics to ensure equitable access and improve the quality of human resources in Jambi Province.

Abstract

The preservation of Kompangan art is generally carried out in the original area of Jambi. The rapid development of settlements, especially in the central area of offices, trade and education, needs to be balanced with the development of local culture so that there is no shift in cultural values. In response to this, the Jambi University LPM through the implementing team provided assistance to the community in empowering the potential to preserve the Kompangan arts and culture of the Jambi region. The service method used is socialization and collaboration. From this service activity, the community's potential in preserving Kompangan art was obtained, namely (1) there was 19.23 per cent of children and adolescents were interested and 50 per cent were very interested in learning and practicing kompangan art; (2) availability of adequate trainers; (3) there is potential for financing sourced from community infaq and shodaqoh; (4) receive support both morally and materially from the community. From these various potentials, a Kompangan arts institution was formed in Mendalo Indah village with the name "Compangan Al Banna Group" as a place for fostering and training kompangan arts for children and adolescents.

Abstract

The activity of managing pocket money is essentially a model for controlling and organizing a student's daily funds. This process integrates several key stages, ranging from initial planning, allocation, and the execution of spending to the periodic evaluation of how the funds are used. Effective pocket money management can foster independence, responsibility, and discipline in students regarding financial decision-making: This study aims to determine the effect of pocket cash book media on students' pocket money management in class X Accounting at SMKN 1 Jambi City. The problem is based on students' low ability in planning, controlling, saving, and recording personal finances. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with Post-test Only Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 67 students divided into experimental and control classes. Data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney U test. The results showed that the average score of the experimental class was 90.61, while the control class was 69.98. The significance value was 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference. Therefore, the pocket cash book media is effective in improving students' financial management.
