Abstract

Learning interest is a crucial factor in children's educational development. This study aims to provide education on the importance of learning interest to children at the Yayasan Pembangun Didikan Islam Indonesia (Indonesian Islamic Education Development Foundation). Learning interest can be defined as a high inclination and enthusiasm or a strong desire towards something one wishes to learn. With learning interest, children tend to be more focused and enthusiastic in engaging with the learning process. This educational activity was conducted at the Yayasan Pembangun Didikan Islam Indonesia, located at Jl. Jamin Ginting No. 271, Padang Bulan, Kec. Medan Baru, Medan City, North Sumatra 20157. Through various interactive and enjoyable methods, the research team endeavored to instill in children an understanding of the benefits and importance of having a high learning interest. In this activity, children were encouraged to understand that learning is not merely an obligation, but can also be an enjoyable and beneficial activity for their personal development. Various educational activities were designed to help children discover areas that interest them, thereby naturally increasing their learning motivation. The results of this educational activity are expected to increase children's awareness of the importance of learning interest, which in turn will positively impact their academic achievement and personal potential development. Additionally, this activity aims to provide caregivers and educators at the foundation with an understanding of effective ways to cultivate and maintain children's learning interest. Through this education, it is hoped that children at the Yayasan Pembangun Didikan Islam Indonesia can develop a strong learning interest, which will serve as an important foundation for their educational success and future.

Abstract

Social interaction is an important aspect in the development of every individual, including children with special needs. For children with special needs, social interaction requires understanding, patience and a sensitive approach. Special education experts and psychologists emphasize the importance of social interaction for children with special needs to develop social skills, empathy, and healthy relationships with others. This Field Work Practice (PKL) activity was carried out by Social Welfare Students of FISIP USU at Terang Sukacita Abadi Orphanage, Medan City. For approximately 3 months, students carry out Project Based Learning (PBL) which aims to raise the spirit of social interaction of children with special needs. Through social work methods, students attempt to change or restore the social functioning of clients, in this case children with special needs. The main focus of this activity is to create a supportive environment where children with special needs can interact with peers and get support from adults who understand their needs. By encouraging social interaction, it is hoped that children with special needs can improve their ability to communicate, build relationships, and develop social skills that are important for their overall development.

Abstract

This article aims to discuss efforts to improve reading skills in SD N 060900 children. Reading ability is something that needs to be learned and mastered. The ability to read functions to make it easier for someone to understand the contents of the text being read in a relatively short time. In practice, the teacher will divide students into several groups. The group was divided into three groups, namely students who could not recognize letters yet, students who had started to be able to spell and students who could read word by word. Reading ability quickly became the yardstick for forming groups. Groups that cannot recognize letters at all will be formed into one group, they are taught starting from basic learning, while the next group is a group that can spell, they will prohibit and improve so that they can spell writing proficiently, the next group is students who can already read a few words, they will remind you to read more of a few words in a piece of writing. This study used observation and interview methods, as well as direct reading practice. The results showed that the students' abilities at SDN 060900 had increased after implementing a reading learning system by grouping students based on age level, reading ability and outdoor learning.

Abstract

This article aims to discuss how to train and develop the memory of children aged 7-11 years at SD N 067690. In the era of globalization, the cognitive development of late-age children (7-11 years) has decreased, especially in terms of memory ability. This is indicated by the decline in academic achievement of elementary school students, especially in memorizing lessons. Basically, a child's memory can be developed through a learning process that trains thinking skills and memory. This study uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The data in the study were obtained from observations, interviews and hands-on practice with the children of SD N 067690. The results showed that there was progress made by students in terms of improving memory through the three methods that the researchers applied, namely the method of assembling puzzles, retelling ( story telling).

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the application of the problem based learning (PBL) model in mathematics learning at UPT SDN 067952. Mathematics learning is a mental exercise that involves understanding concepts, connections, and symbols before applying them to actual situations. Understanding ideas, using them to solve problems, and developing a mindset that appreciates the value of mathematics in everyday life are the goals of this mathematics education. In fact, there are still many who are relieved that learning mathematics is a student subject that is relatively the most challenging to learn and less interesting for students when they are in elementary school. This is because learning mathematics can be boring because of the use of models, techniques, and teaching materials. Therefore, the application of learning models is important, and one of these learning models is the Problem Based Learning (PBL) paradigm.

Abstract

This teaching campus activity is a form of implementation of the Independent Learning Teaching Campus (MBKM) program with USU partners. This program is based on the decline in student interest in learning, the level of student learning comprehension, and students' reading and mathematics skills. Another old problem, intense interaction, may also be the reason why bullying occurs in schools . Through Field Work Practice (PKL 1), I brought the topic of mini project to elementary school students, namely Improving Numeracy Literacy Skills of Elementary School Children and Overcoming Bullying. Which is where students' learning ability will be very influential from the state of the school environment. Bullying culture in the name of seniority still occurs among elementary school students, bullying is mostly repeated, some are even planned. Character education is a way or means to overcome these problems. This work program has been carried out using the group work method consisting of the stages of Assessment, Planing / Planning, Intervention, Evaluation, and finally Termination. The Teaching Campus focus also helps make learning methods fun, such as simple and fast kabataku operations (multiplication, division, addition, subtraction), use of interactive learning environments and identification of students' math learning abilities. The end result of this program can be seen through the reduction in the number of students who commit bullying acts at school and the increase in interest in learning, reading and numeracy students at school.

Abstract

The loss of a reading culture is the most important cause, even a learning culture in schools is starting to disappear little by little, indeed the percentage of school children has increased with the government's compulsory education program but this does not necessarily improve the quality of education because even though every day the children go to school they have never studied, especially a low reading culture. School seems to be just a daily routine. Schools have a very important role in instilling a culture of reading and writing (literacy) in students. Therefore, each school must provide full support for the cultivation of a culture of reading and writing (literacy) in schools. Literacy culture itself has a relationship in fostering an interest in reading and writing in elementary school children. In cultivating an interest in reading and writing, a literacy culture is the most important key in realizing this interest. As a result, to foster an interest in reading and writing, several roles must be needed, such as infrastructure in schools, the community and parents. If the role is inadequate, it will have a negative impact on the continuation of a good literacy culture

Abstract

Teaching Campus is a learning channel that provides opportunities for students to study off- campus for one semester to practice their ability to solve complex problems by becoming partners with teachers to innovate in learning, develop strategies and learning models that are creative, innovative and fun. Campus Policy Merdeka Learning aims to encourage students to master various fields of knowledge with their areas of expertise, so that they are ready to compete in the global world. Social Emotional Learning is closely related to the philosophy of thought 'Ki Hajar Dewantara' which states that the purpose of education is to guide all the strengths or natures that exist in children so that they can achieve the highest possible safety and happiness, and here I and we or the teacher's role is a driving force as an example of character education for students, creating an educational ecosystem, and organizing a learning environment that is full of comfort, safety and fun. That way positive emotions and moods will be created in children, and we can know them.
