Abstract

ABSTRAKRadikal bebas merupakan substansi yang sangat reaktif dapat menyebakan kerusakan sel kulit sehingga dapat menghilangkan elastisitas kulit serta menyebabkan penuaan dini. Penuaan dini merupakan kondisi penuaan yang terjadi secara cepat. Keadaan ini dapat dicegah dengan senyawa antioksidan yang berasal dari tanaman salah satunya yaitu ekstrak etanol daun jambu biji (Psidium guajava L.) yang mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder seperti flavonoid, fenolik, dan tanin. Penggunaan ekstrak akan lebih mudah dalam bentuk sediaan seperti masker peel off. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol daun jambu biji dan formulasinya sebagai sediaan masker peel off. Daun jambu biji diekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 70%, kemudian dilakukan skrining fitokimia pada ekstrak meliputi flavonoid, fenolik, dan tanin selanjutnya diuji aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak dengan metode DPPH. Ekstrak diformulasi menjadi sediaan masker peel off F0 (0%) dan F1(2%)lalu kedua formula diuji sifat fisik (uji organoleptis, pH, homogenitas, viskositas, daya sebar, daya lekat, dan waktu sediaan kering) serta diuji  aktivitas antioksidan sediaan dengan metode DPPH. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun jambu biji  positif mengandung flavonoid, tanin dan fenolik serta  memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 23,29±0,2 μg/mL. Uji sifat  fisik sediaan masker peel off ekstrak daun jambu biji F0 dan F1 telah memenuhi syarat pH, homogenitas, viskositas, daya sebar, waktu sediaan kering dan daya lekat yang baik. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan sediaan masker peel off ekstrak etanol daun jambu biji F0 dan F1 diperoleh IC50 berturut-turut yaitu 953,87±6,4 μg/mL dan 79,56±12,1 μg/mL dimana aktivitas antioksidan F0 masuk kategori sangat lemah dan F1 masuk kategori. Hasil aktivitas antioksidan yang diperoleh berbeda signifikan antara ekstrak daun jambu biji dengan sediaan masker peel off ekstrak daun jambu biji berdasarkan uji Anova dengan nilai p>0.05 (p=0,00). Kata kunci: Radikal bebas; Antioksidan; DPPH; Daun Jambu Biji; Masker Peel OffABSTRACTFree radicals are highly reactive substances that can cause skin cell damage so that they can eliminate skin elasticity and cause premature aging. Premature aging is a condition of aging that occurs rapidly. This situation can be prevented by antioxidant compounds derived from plants, one of which is ethanol extract of guava leaves (Psidium guajava L.) which contains secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, phenolics, and tannins. The use of extracts will be easier in dosage forms such as peel off masks. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of guava leaf ethanol extract and its formulation as a peel off mask preparation. Guava leaves were extracted using the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent, then phytochemical screening was carried out on the extract including flavonoids, phenolics, and tannins and then tested for antioxidant activity in the extract using the DPPH method. The extract was formulated into F0 (0%) and F1 (2%) peel off mask preparations, then both formulas were tested for physical properties (organoleptic test, pH, homogeneity, viscosity, spreadability, adhesion, and dry preparation time) and were tested for antioxidant activity. with the DPPH method. The results showed that the guava leaf ethanol extract was positive for flavonoids, tannins and phenolics and had a very strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 23.29±0,2 μg/mL. Physical properties test of guava leaf extract peel off mask preparations F0 and F1 met the requirements for pH, homogeneity, viscosity, dispersion, dry preparation time and good adhesion. Testing the antioxidant activity of the peel-off mask preparation of guava leaf ethanol extract F0 and F1 obtained IC50 of 953.87±6,4 μg/mL and 79.56±12,1 μg/mL where the antioxidant activity of F0 was in the very weak category and F1 was in the category. The antioxidant activity results obtained were significantly different between guava leaf extract and guava leaf extract peel off mask preparations based on the Anova test with p>0.05 (p=0.00).Keyword: Free radicals; Antioxidants; DPPH; Guava leaves; Peel Off Mask

Abstract

Research on phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity testing of the ethanol extract of buni leaves (Antidesma bunius L. Spreng) has been carried out. This study aims to identify secondary metabolite compounds contained in buni leaf plants to see the activity of the ethanol extract of buni leaves using the DPPH method. Buni leaves were extracted in 96% ethanol by maceration method, then evaporated using a rotary evaporator. The results of thick extract were screened for phytochemicals such as phenolics, tannins, flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, steroids and terpenoids using a qualitative color test method and carrying out antioxidant activity using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with Vitamin C as a comparison. The results showed that the ethanol extract of buni leaves contained phenolic compounds, tannins, flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, steroids and terpenoids as well as IC50 Vitamin C of 5.22 ppm which is classified as a very strong antioxidant, while the IC50 of buni leaves ethanol extract is lower at 61, 8 ppm which is classified as a strong antioxidant

Abstract

Buah duwet diketahui memiliki aktivitas antioksidan namun pengunaan di masyarakat belum optimal sehingga perlu diformulasikan ke dalam sediaan farmasi yang lebih efektif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menguji aktivitas antiradikal bebas sari buah duwet kemudian diformulasi dalam bentuk sediaan granul effervescent dan menguji aktivitas antiradikal bebasnya. Metode pengujian aktivitas penghambat radikal bebas DPPH sari buah duwet menggunakan instrumen spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Formulasi granul effervescent sari buah duwet dibuat dengan metode granulasi basah, kemudian dilakukan pengujian aktivitas antiradikal bebas menggunakan metode DPPH. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sari buah duwet memiliki nilai IC50 sebesar 168,266 µg/ml. Hasil evaluasi sifat fisik granul effervescent yang didapat yakni kadar air 5,46 ± 102%, waktu alir 33,02 ± 0,474 detik, sudut diam sebesar 30,95 , waktu larut 1 menit 35 detik ± 0,01 detik, dan pH 7. Berdasarkan penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa sari buah duwet memiliki aktivitas antiradikal bebas yang sedang dan dapat diformulasi menjadi granul effervescent dengan hasil evaluasi sifat fisik yang baik, namun tidak memiliki aktivitas antiradikal bebas setelah diformulasi.

Abstract

Daun jambu biji (Psidium guajava L.) mengandung senyawa flavonoid yang berpotensi sebagai antioksidan yang dapat mencegah terjadinya kerusakan kulit karena radikal bebas sehingga produk kosmetik sediaan topikal dengan zat aktif ekstrak daun jambu biji perlu dikembangkan. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini untuk menentukan formula optimum sediaan lotion ekstrak daun jambu biji (Psidium guajava L.) dengan variasi setil alkohol dan gliserin serta menentukan sifat fisik formula optimumnya. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan yaitu maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Nilai rendemen yang diperoleh yaitu 17,64%. Hasil skrining flavonoid menunjukkan hasil positif yang ditandai dengan terjadinya perubahan warna larutan menjadi merah. Optimasi formula dilakukan dengan metode Simplex Lattice Design yang diolah menggunakan software Design Expert dan sediaan lotion diformulasi dengan meleburkan bahan fase minyak (asam stearat, setil alkohol, propil paraben) dan fase air (trietanolamin, gliserin, metil paraben, akuades) secara terpisah pada suhu 70-75oC, kemudian disatukan dan diaduk hingga homogen. Hasil optimasi menunjukkan formula optimum lotion diperoleh pada konsentrasi setil alkohol dan gliserin masing-masing sebesar 3,93% dan 13,07%. Hasil evaluasi sifat fisik formula optimum yaitu memilki warna hijau kecoklatan, bau khas daun jambu biji, konsistensi yang kental dan pH 7,942, daya sebar 6,350 cm dan daya lekat 0,975 detik.

Abstract

Diabetes is a degenerative disease whose numbers continue to increase from year to year. Treatment with oral antidiabetic drugs can cause harmful side effects for patients. One of the plants that can be used for diabetes therapy is juwet (Syzygium cumini L.). Flavonoid compounds of juwet seed is easily oxidized and hydrolyzed in intestinal fluids with low absorption. This problem can be overcome by forming nanoparticle of juwet seed extract. The aims of this study was to obtain the formula for juwet seed nanoparticles. Nanoparticle of juwet seed extract made by ionic gelation method with chitosan and Na-TPP polymers which are varied. The formula optimization design in this study was determined using a simplex lattice design by 3 variations of materials based on the parameters %entrapment efficiency, %transmittant, particle size, polydisperse index, and zeta potential. The results showed that the yield of duwet seed extract was 7,44%. Juwet seed ethanolic extract contains 3.33 mg of quercetin per 1 g of extract. Based on the desirability value approach, the optimum formula was produced with an extract composition of 1.650 mL; chitosan 0.500 mL; and Na-TPP 0.010 mL can give optimal results with a desirability value of 0.772 which results in the criteria of 63.66% entrapment efficiency; 50.56% transmittant; 615,833nm particle size; 0.620 PDI; and zeta potential of +13.89 mV. Juwet seeds extract can be formulated into the form of nanoparticles. To get better parameters, it is advisable to optimize the mixing time and mixing speed in the ionic gelation method.

Abstract

Ashitaba is known to have antioxidant activity and gram-positive antibacterial activity that causes body odor. This is the potential activity for an active substance to be developed as deodorant. The appropriate formula is needed, so it is necessary to optimize the formula using the right method. This study aimed was to determine the application of the simplex lattice design method on the optimization of a deodorant roll-on formula of ashitaba extract. Ashitaba was extracted by the maceration method. The formula optimization design was determined using the simplex lattice design method by Design Expert®7.5.1. The components for optimization were the concentration of carbopol and concentration of TEA, and the optimization parameters were the spreadability test, sticky power, and pH test. The optimum formula of deodorant consists of 0.45% carbopol and 2.05% TEA. The responses of optimum formula obtained spreadability test 6.32 ± 0.33 cm, sticky power 44.67 ± 3.94 seconds, and pH 7.73 ± 0.17. These results meet the criteria for good preparation but need further testing related to the effectiveness of the preparation and the level of acceptance of the preparation by the user.

Abstract

The content in lemongrass leaves essential oil (Cymbopogon citratus) has a neurobehavioral effect, so lemongrass leaves essential oil can be useful as aromatherapy. The stick balm form as an innovation of aromatherapy form is required to increase the user’s comfort and ease of application of the product. The aim of this study is to determine the optimum formula and physical properties of lemongrass essential oil stick balm form with additive variations of cera alba and lanolin. Eight stick balm formula designs were determined by using SLD (Simplex Lattice Design), method with Design Expert 11 software, and made by using melting method. The stick balm forms were tested for the physical properties such as pH test, melting point test, and adhesion test. The response to the physical properties test was processed by using Design Expert 11 software to obtain optimal formula. The optimal form of stick balm was tested for physical, organoleptic, and homogeneity properties. The results of the physical properties test of optimal formula were verified by using one sample t-test method with SPSS software. The results of the optimization of the formula were 5,310% of lanolin and 11,690% of cera alba. The stick balm forms were bright yellow in color, have a characteristic smell of lemongrass essential oil, semi-solid consistency, homogeneous mixed materials, pH level of 5,63±0,06, melting point of 44,5±0,5oC, and adhesion tests of 2,437±0,106 seconds, with the result that, the optimum formula of stick balm met requirements for the physical properties. The physical properties of the optimal formula are not significantly different from the predictions in the Design Expert 11 application.

Abstract

Buah duwet sebagai buah lokal Indonesia memiliki berbagai kandungan senyawa metabolit sekunder yang berkhasiat sebagai antioksidan, antidiabetes, dan antikanker. Buah duwet dapat diformulasikan kedalam sediaan granul effervescent untuk meningkatkan kemudahan penggunaan. Pada sediaan granul effervescent, penambahan konsentrasi asam dan basa yang tidak tepat dapat mempengaruhi sifat fisiknya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi asam sitrat dan natrium bikarbonat terhadap sifat fisik granul effervescent sari buah duwet. Metode pembuatan granul effervescent menggunakan metode granulasi basah dengan variasi konsentrasi asam sitrat dan natrium bikarbonat pada formula I (20% dan 26,25%), formula II (21,6% dan 28,35%), dan formula III (23,2% dan 30,45%). Granul effervescent yang terbentuk kemudian dievaluasi sifat fisiknya yang meliputi uji hedonik, kadar air, pH, kecepatan alir, sudut diam, dan waktu larut. Hasil pengujian analisis sidik ragam menunjukkan variasi konsentrasi asam sitrat dan natrium bikarbonat memiliki signifikansi (p ≤  0,05) pada pengujian sifat fisik kadar air, pH, kecepatan alir dan waktu larut. Berdasarkan nilai signifikansi tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa variasi konsentrasi asam sitrat dan natrium bikarbonat berpengaruh terhadap keidealan sifat fisik dari granul effervescent sari buah duwet. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi asam sitrat dan natrium bikarbonat yang ditambahkan, semakin signifikan penurunan kadar air, pH, kecepatan alir, dan waktu larutnya. Namun, variasi konsentrasi asam sitrat dan natrium bikarbonat tidak menyebabkan adanya perbedaan sudut diam.

Abstract

Anti-inflammatory drugs are needed to overcome excessive inflammatory reactions that can interfere with activities. The existence of side effects in the use of synthetic anti-inflammatory drugs causes the search for natural drugs with high therapeutic effects and low side effects to continue. Seeds of Makassar (Brucea javanica (L.) Merr) plant are known to have anti-inflammatory activity. Topical anti-inflammatory administration is currently being developed because it can minimize side effects compared to oral. This study aimed to formulate 96% ethanol extract of Makasar fruit seeds in the form of an emulgel and to determine the physical properties and anti-inflammatory activity of the emulgel in vitro. Makasar fruit seeds were extracted by sonication method using 96% ethanol solvent (3 x 35 minutes). The extract was then formulated into an emulgel preparation with an extract concentration of 1%. Emulgel was then tested for its physical properties and anti-inflammatory activity in vitro using protein denaturation inhibition method. The results showed that the physical properties of emulgel base (F0), extract emulgel (F1), and Na-diclofenac emulgel (F2) met the requirements for homogeneity, pH, adhesion, spreadability, and viscosity tests. F0, F1, and F2 had inhibition percentages of 3.74±1.58%,; 23.07±0.72%; and 33.49±0.29, respectively. According to one-way ANOVA statistical test, the three tested groups had significant differences.

Abstract

Senggigi village community has limitations in obtaining information about health, one of which is DAGUSIBU. DAGUSIBU is a way to get, use, store and dispose of medicines properly. The aim of this socialization was to inform about DAGUSIBU to the community so that medicines can be used rationally. The method used in the socialization is the delivery of material and direct examples related to the use of medicines that require special methods. The participants were very enthusiastic to attend the socialization, as evidenced by the many questions related to DAGUSIBU raised. This socialization increased participant’s knowledge about DAGUSIBU, they understand how to get, use, store and dispose of medicines in the right way.
