Abstract

Kewajiban dokter dalam menyampaikan informasi medis kepada pasien merupakan salah satu elemen penting dalam hubungan antara dokter dan pasien. Hal ini tidak hanya menyangkut aspek medis, tetapi juga hak-hak pasien untuk mendapatkan informasi yang lengkap dan jelas mengenai kondisi kesehatannya. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kewajiban hukum yang dimiliki dokter dalam memberikan informasi medis kepada pasien serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan normatif dengan mengkaji peraturan perundang-undangan yang berlaku, serta perspektif hukum yang ada dalam praktik kedokteran di Indonesia.

Abstract

Informed consent is a crucial element in the healthcare system as it ensures that patients provide consent based on a sufficient understanding of the medical procedures to be performed. In the context of emergency services, where patients often present with critical conditions requiring immediate action, the implementation of informed consent becomes more complex. BPJS Kesehatan, as the provider of healthcare services for the public, holds the responsibility to ensure that medical treatments within their network respect patient rights, both legally and ethically. This article aims to explore in-depth the legal and ethical aspects of implementing informed consent in emergency healthcare services under the BPJS Kesehatan program.

Abstract

Medical malpractice represents a significant violation within healthcare services, posing serious risks to patient safety and eroding public trust. In Indonesia, incidents of malpractice are relatively frequent, yet many remain unresolved due to limited legal awareness and inadequate access to justice for patients. This article examines the legal dimensions of medical malpractice by focusing on two critical aspects: the legal protection afforded to patients and the legal liability borne by medical practitioners. Employing a normative juridical approach, alongside an analysis of relevant legislation and case studies, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the existing legal frameworks and the practical challenges faced in their enforcement. The findings are expected to serve as a valuable reference for stakeholders, including patients, healthcare professionals, and legal institutions.

Abstract

Informed consent is a fundamental component of modern medical practice that emphasizes the importance of a patient’s approval after receiving clear, adequate, and understandable information regarding a medical procedure. This concept reflects not only respect for patient autonomy but also serves as a legal safeguard for healthcare professionals in the performance of their duties. In Indonesia, the regulation of informed consent has undergone notable development. Ministerial regulations, the Medical Code of Ethics, and Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health provide the normative foundation that affirms patients’ rights to obtain sufficient information and to give conscious consent before any medical intervention. This study applies a normative juridical method with a statutory and conceptual approach. The findings reveal that the latest legal framework reinforces documentation obligations and clarifies the standards that must be fulfilled by medical practitioners, including in emergency situations. Nevertheless, practical implementation remains challenged by several factors, such as patients’ limited comprehension, the use of complex medical terminology, time constraints faced by healthcare providers, and the suboptimal practice of written documentation. These challenges create potential legal disputes, both in civil and criminal domains, when medical procedures are carried out without valid consent. Therefore, the effective application of informed consent requires synergy between clear regulations, adequate understanding among medical personnel, and improved health literacy among the public. Consequently, informed consent should not be seen merely as an administrative formality but rather as an essential legal and ethical safeguard that enhances the quality of healthcare services.

Abstract

Adolescent health and nutrition issues, combined with limited access to healthcare services, pose challenges to sustainable stunting prevention efforts. This community service initiative aimed to enhance adolescents' knowledge and skills regarding health, nutrition, and stunting prevention—utilizing the "First 8,000 Days of Life" framework—while strengthening the capacity of Adolescent Integrated Service Center volunteers. The program was conducted in Bomba Village (Marawola Community Health Center area) and comprised four stages: preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Activities included health screenings, educational sessions using interactive modules and a participatory approach, and training for Adolescent Health Post (*Posyandu Remaja*) volunteers. Thirty-two adolescents participated in the health screenings, and twenty-one volunteers attended the training. Evaluation involved anthropometric and hemoglobin measurements, alongside pre- and post-tests to assess knowledge. Screening results showed that 9 adolescents (28.1%) were underweight, 21 (65.6%) were within the normal weight range, and 2 (6.3%) were overweight. Hemoglobin (Hb) testing revealed that 2 adolescents (6.2%) had anemia, while 30 (93.8%) did not; Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) measurements indicated that 16 adolescents (50%) fell into the normal category, while 16 (50%) fell into the abnormal category. The adolescents' mean knowledge score rose from 57.59 to 81.56, an increase of 23.97 points. Volunteer knowledge and skills scores also improved by 22.86 points. This community service activity demonstrates the potential to enhance community capacity in supporting adolescent health and preventing stunting.
