Abstract

Gambling poses a significant threat to societal norms and can impede national progress on both material and spiritual fronts. Consequently, a rational approach is imperative in addressing this issue, which includes robust law enforcement policies and the prosecution of offenders. This research delves into the Surabaya City Police's efforts to combat online soccer gambling and seeks to analyze the modus operandi of suspects involved in such activities, as well as the challenges and obstacles encountered by the Cyber Unit III of the Surabaya City Police Criminal Investigation Unit. Employing a qualitative descriptive exploratory methodology, this study utilizes primary and secondary data gathered through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings of this research are anticipated to serve as a valuable resource for understanding the complexities of combating online gambling and to inform strategies for enhancing police effectiveness in responding to public reports of this illicit activity.

Abstract

Batam, sebagai wilayah yang berbatasan langsung dengan Singapura dan Malaysia, serta memiliki pertumbuhan penduduk yang sangat pesat di Indonesia, menghadapi potensi peningkatan kasus keamanan dan kejahatan. Menurut Nolan (2004), terdapat hubungan antara jumlah penduduk dan volume kejahatan. Sebagai bagian dari wilayah Kepolisian Daerah Kepulauan Riau yang termasuk dalam kategori 3T (Tertinggal, Terdepan, Terluar), penting bagi Batam untuk mengimplementasikan predictive policing. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah agar kepolisian daerah dapat memprediksi tingkat gangguan keamanan dan ketertiban masyarakat (kamtibmas) melalui analisis berbasis pengetahuan, data, dan metode yang tepat, sehingga pencegahan dapat dilakukan sedini mungkin. Metode yang digunakan melibatkan analisis data historis kejahatan, penggunaan algoritma prediktif, dan teknologi informasi untuk mengidentifikasi pola dan tren kejahatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan predictive policing dapat secara signifikan mengurangi insiden kejahatan dan meningkatkan efisiensi penegakan hukum. Langkah preventif dan solusi yang konsisten dan presisi akan memungkinkan Polri untuk meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan publik, memperkuat hubungan dengan masyarakat, dan menciptakan citra positif sebagai institusi yang berkomitmen pada keadilan, keamanan, dan kesejahteraan masyarakat.

Abstract

Purpose: This study explores how individuals interpret online love fraud experiences and how these experiences reshape trust, meaning, and social interactions in digital spaces as part of a society's socio-cultural resilience. Study Design/Methodology/Approach: A qualitative phenomenological approach through Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis with in-depth interviews was used in this study to understand subjective meaning formation, emotional interpretations, and relational negotiations in online love fraud experiences. Findings: Digital love fraud develops through gradual relational constructions that shape emotional intimacy and symbolic trust, which are interpreted as disruptions to the sense of security and relational valuations and influence people's social interaction patterns in the digital world, thus impacting sociocultural resilience. Originality/Value: This research positions the lived experiences of victims as the analytical basis for understanding relational vulnerability in the digital space and demonstrates its connection to the formation of socio-cultural resilience in contemporary Indonesian society.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the law enforcement mechanisms carried out by the Directorate of Cyber Crime (Dittipidsiber) of the Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) in facing the lack of ethics among social media users that potentially lead to cybercrimes. With a focus on handling cybercrime cases on social media, this research reveals and analyzes the steps taken by Dittipidsiber in responding to ethical violations in cyberspace. The research methodology employed is qualitative with a case study approach. Data was collected through document studies, interviews, and observations to gain a comprehensive understanding of the law enforcement processes undertaken by Dittipidsiber. Data analysis was conducted by interpreting information obtained from these sources to construct a comprehensive understanding of the research subject. The conclusions of this research indicate that Dittipidsiber Bareskrim Polri has implemented a series of repressive and preventive efforts to address cybercrimes. These efforts include law enforcement, investigation, prosecution, infrastructure improvement, education and training, socialization and education, sanctions enforcement, as well as international cooperation. Additionally, the mechanisms for handling cybercrime cases involve both criminal and non-criminal legal policies, digital forensic analysis, and service optimization to prevent criminal activities, based on the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE). Education and socialization to the public also play a crucial role in preventing cybercrimes.

Abstract

This article aims to analyse the dynamics of progressive law implementation in Indonesia, as well as explore the various prospects and challenges facing the law in the Era of Industrial Society 4.0. The method used in this research is a literature review of publications in leading journals. Through literature analysis, this article identifies several factors that affect the implementation of progressive law in Indonesia, especially in the era of Industrial Society 4.0. First, there are challenges in terms of understanding and awareness of the concept and implementation of progressive law among legal practitioners and the general public. This limited knowledge and understanding can hinder the application of progressive law in everyday legal practice. Second, institutional factors also play an important role in the implementation of progressive law. Lack of government consistency along with commitment from legal institutions, such as the courts and the police, can hinder the implementation of progressive law. In addition, other challenges such as weaknesses in the judicial system and its bureaucracy, potential conflicts in values and culture, and imbalances in regulation can also be obstacles to the implementation of progressive law. This article also identifies the future prospects of progressive law implementation in Indonesia. With a growing awareness of the importance of progressive law in achieving social justice, there is potential for positive change. Improved legal education, training, and public awareness can strengthen the implementation of progressive law in Indonesia. Overall, this article concludes that the implementation of progressive law in Indonesia faces significant challenges, but also has bright prospects for the future. Collaborative efforts from various parties, including legal practitioners, legal institutions, and the general public, are needed to strengthen the implementation of progressive law and achieve better social justice in Indonesia.

Abstract

Corruption has become a profound issue in the context of law and policing in Indonesia. This article aims to analyse the impact of corruption on the effectiveness of law enforcement, with a focus on the study of police science in Indonesia. The method used is a literature review, by collecting and analysing various related literature, reports and case studies. The results of the literature analysis show that corruption within the police has a significant impact on various aspects of law enforcement. Corruption can hamper the integrity and credibility of the police institution, affect the investigation process, and potentially damage the relationship between the police and the community. Case studies in the Indonesian context reveal the challenges faced in efforts to eradicate corruption in the police. In addition, this article also discusses the efforts that have been made by the government and relevant institutions in addressing the issue of corruption in the police. These include policy reforms, training, and stricter law enforcement against perpetrators of corruption. In order to improve the effectiveness of law enforcement in Indonesia, concrete steps are needed in the prevention and eradication of corruption in the police. The results of this literature analysis provide deep insight into the complexity of corruption issues in the context of policing, as well as identifying directions for further research in an effort to improve the integrity and efficiency of law enforcement agencies in Indonesia.
