Abstract

The increasing crime rate in Indonesia has led the public to question the effectiveness of the country's security systems, particularly physical security. This situation is further complicated by rapid technological advancements, which allow criminal acts to evolve in both motive and method. This article discusses the urgency of utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the physical security sector through a review of national and international literature. The literature analyzed in this study includes publications from the last ten years that are relevant to the topics of physical security and artificial intelligence. Key focus areas of this literature review include global trends in AI implementation in physical security, the benefits of its application, and the challenges faced during implementation. The findings reveal that the integration of AI, including the use of IoT devices, intelligent surveillance cameras, and biometric access control systems, can significantly improve the effectiveness of threat detection, prevention, and real-time response. However, in Indonesia, the application of AI in physical security remains limited due to infrastructure constraints, lack of human resource readiness, underdeveloped regulations, data privacy concerns, and high investment requirements. This study concludes that the application of AI in physical security is essential for enhancing safety, particularly in confined environments such as offices, residential areas, and commercial zones, in order to mitigate the rising trend of physical crimes.

Abstract

As the world's third-largest democracy, Indonesia faces complex challenges in the execution of its elections, spanning logistics, security, and law enforcement. In practice, various challenges frequently arise in enforcing laws related to electoral violations. The Indonesian National Police (Polri), specifically the Lebak Police (Polres Lebak) in Banten, plays a crucial role in maintaining order and security throughout the election process. As a law enforcement agency, Polres Lebak is tasked with preventing, controlling, and addressing various forms of violations such as money politics, black campaigns, hoax dissemination, and violence during the campaign period and post-election. This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by Polres Lebak in maintaining the integrity and smooth operation of the 2024 elections and to assess the preventive measures and handling of election violations implemented by Polres Lebak. The article employs a qualitative analysis method supported by law enforcement theory. The findings reveal that Lebak Police faces complex challenges in ensuring the integrity and smoothness of the 2024 elections, including potential social and political conflicts, threats of money politics, hoax dissemination, as well as logistical preparedness and pressure from political actors. Given the broad and diverse socio-cultural landscape, Lebak Police needs to apply a comprehensive approach and coordinate with various parties to secure polling stations (TPS), prevent fraudulent practices, and manage limited human resources and technology. Measures include socializing election rules, establishing Integrated Law Enforcement Centers, monitoring money politics and disinformation, securing TPS, using technology to monitor violations, setting up patrols and security posts in vulnerable areas.

Abstract

The implementation of restorative justice in the criminal justice system as regulated in Police Regulation No. 8 of 2021 aims to create a more humane case resolution by emphasizing victim recovery, perpetrator responsibility, and social balance. With this approach, the police can focus more on fair and balanced problem-solving so that justice is not merely about punishment, but also about restoring the social condition of society. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. The research results show that the implementation of restorative justice in Indonesia based on Police Regulation No. 8 of 2021 aims to resolve minor criminal cases through mediation between victims and perpetrators with certain conditions, namely general, material, formal, and specific requirements for certain criminal acts. This approach focuses on victim recovery and perpetrator responsibility, but is not applied to serious crimes such as terrorism and corruption. Although applied in cases such as domestic violence, assault by children, and minor traffic accidents, its implementation still faces obstacles related to legal understanding and resource limitations. The research implications show that the restorative justice approach based on Police Regulation No. 8 of 2021 reflects a paradigm shift in criminal law from a retributive model towards more humane substantive justice. This aligns with progressive and responsive legal theory, which positions law as a tool for social recovery and human rights protection beyond formal procedures.

Abstract

Violence against women and children is increasingly occurring through social media, as the use of digitized technology increases. This research aims to investigate some of the elements that contribute to violence against women and children on social media, as well as the impacts faced by victims. The research used an extensive literature evaluation, analyzing various related texts, journals and research papers. The results show that the main causes of violence against women and children on social media include patriarchal culture, lack of digital literacy, user anonymity, weak regulation and law enforcement, and normalization of violence in the digital space. The impacts include psychological, social, and economic disruption for victims. Based on these findings, this research provides recommendations for improving digital literacy for the community, strengthening legal regulations related to gender-based forms of violence in the realm of social media, and working together with the government, social media, and community organizations to develop a safer and more inclusive digital landscape.

Abstract

Human trafficking, particularly of women, remains a growing and complex transnational crime. Indonesia plays a strategic role in preventing trafficking through its immigration system, where immigration officers are key in identifying potential victims via gender-based passport interviews. This study systematically reviews literature on gender-based interview methods to evaluate their effectiveness in early detection and prevention of trafficking in women. Using the PRISMA protocol, nine relevant studies from major databases were analyzed, focusing on psychological trauma, passport procedures, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. Findings highlight challenges such as limited gender sensitivity in current immigration interviews and emphasize the need for specialized officer training. The research underscores the importance of integrating trauma-informed approaches and community-based policies to enhance detection and protection mechanisms. Strengthening immigration officers' capacity through continuous training and cooperation with international organizations and NGOs is crucial. This literature synthesis provides practical recommendations to improve immigration interview protocols and supports policy development aimed at reducing women’s vulnerability to trafficking, especially in Indonesia’s border regions. The study contributes a comprehensive framework for enhancing immigration responses to human trafficking, promoting early victim identification, and fostering collaborative prevention efforts.

Abstract

The threat of social engineering attacks is highly evident in Indonesia. This is reflected in the IDADX report, which shows a significant increase in phishing attack complaints in Indonesia during the first quarter of 2023, with 26,675 reports, up from 6,106 reports in the fourth quarter of 2022. The highest number of attacks occurred in February with 15,050 cases. This also resulted in Indonesia being the 8th country with the highest number of data breach cases globally, with 820,000 cases in the second quarter of 2022, according to Surfshark. The purpose of this research is to analyze the utilization of digital forensic technology in collecting digital evidence to reveal the identities of social engineering crime perpetrators. The writing of this article uses a qualitative analysis method supported by digital forensic theory. The results of the discussion indicate that forensics focuses on the identification, collection, analysis, and preservation of digital evidence that can be used in legal proceedings. Digital forensics leverages computer technology and digital devices to uncover and secure information relevant to a crime. In social engineering crimes, which involve psychological manipulation to obtain information or certain access from victims, digital forensics plays a crucial role in identifying, collecting, analyzing, and preserving digital evidence that can reveal the identities of the perpetrators and their methods. Digital forensic technology is used to analyze emails, text messages, activity logs, and other digital traces left by the perpetrators.

Abstract

Electronic transactions offer various conveniences and benefits while also giving rise to legal problems, one of which is the crime of fraud. To minimize the occurrence of this, a more in-depth study is needed regarding legal regulations, forms and modes, as well as efforts to prevent and overcome them. The existence of the Covid-19 virus has had a negative impact on the reduction of workers in Indonesia and the rise of online fraud, especially using more and more electronic media. This was also influenced by the economic situation of Indonesian society when Covid-19 was on the rise. Cybercrime is a form of crime that arises from the use of internet technology. The rapid development in the use of internet services invites crime. With the increasing number of requests for internet access, crimes against the use of information technology are increasing along with the development of the technology itself. More and more parties will be harmed by the actions of cybercriminals if there is no law that regulates it.

Abstract

The phenomenon of brawls in the DKI Jakarta area is increasing due to environmental, economic, and population density factors in the region. The literature references that form the main basis of this research are situational crime prevention theory, iceberg theory, social conflict theory, youth identity theory, as well as the concepts of community policing, and precision inspector patrols. This research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques of interviews and document studies. The results showed that the role of the Precision Inspector Patrol in preventing fighting in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya is to ensure that patrols and general guards can run smoothly, be responsible for each assignment, training, and supervision of patrol teams in other units, be the front guard to carry out various preventive and responsive efforts, conduct routine patrols, respond to reports from the public, and maintain the situation in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya to remain conducive and under control. Through this role, the strategies that can be carried out by the Metro Jaya Police Precision Inspector Patrol Team in preventing fighting crimes are preemptive, preventive, and repressive strategies that are investigative in nature. The community policing policy model in an effort to maximise the implementation of the Precision Pioneer Patrol to prevent horizontal conflicts in the Polda Metro Jaya jurisdiction can be realised through several management stages which include communication and synergy, cooperation, handling, and performance evaluation. Thanks to this, the Precision Pioneer Patrol has been able to reduce the number of horizontal conflicts that occur in the Polda Metro Jaya jurisdiction. The suggestions are for the Precision Pioneer Patrol Team to increase the frequency of patrols at night in the red and yellow zones, for future researchers to apply GIS as an early detection map of conflict-prone areas, and for cooperation partners to expand the scope of programme implementation P2TP2A Unit, PPA Unit, and FKDM to provide an understanding of the importance of Precision Pioneer Patrol in preventing horizontal conflicts.
