Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease with a rapidly increasing global prevalence and is commonly associated with peripheral complications, including decreased foot sensitivity. Impaired peripheral circulation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus increases the risk of foot ulcers and other serious complications. Buerger Allen exercise is a non-pharmacological intervention that may improve peripheral blood flow and foot sensitivity through postural changes and muscle contractions. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of Buerger Allen exercise on foot sensitivity in patients with diabetes mellitus. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Buerger Allen Exercise in improving foot sensitivity among patients with Diabetes Mellitus at Sejiran Setason Regional Public Hospital, West Bangka, in 2025. Method: The study used a quantitative design with a quasi-experimental method, employing a pretest-posttest control group design with a total sample of 36 participants. The research involved two groups: an intervention group and a control group. Foot sensitivity was measured using the monofilament test before and after the intervention. The Buerger Allen Exercise therapy was carried out for five consecutive days, twice daily in the morning and afternoon. Result: The results showed a significant difference in foot sensitivity levels after the intervention in the treatment group (p-value = 0.00; p < 0.05). This indicates that Buerger Allen Exercise is effective in improving foot sensitivity in Diabetes Mellitus patients. Conclusion: It is recommended that this therapy be included as one of the nursing interventions in the management of Diabetes Mellitus at Sejiran Setason Regional Public Hospital, West Bangka.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a major global health problem and a leading cause of cardiovascular morbidity and premature mortality worldwide. The prevalence of hypertension continues to increase and is frequently associated with serious complications such as heart failure, stroke, kidney damage, and visual impairment. Several factors, including age, physical inactivity, and smoking habits, contribute to the development of hypertension-related complications. Understanding these associated factors is essential to strengthen preventive and promotive strategies in managing hypertension complications. Objective: Hypertension or high blood pressure is a serious medical condition that significantly increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disorders, and visual impairments. Data from 2024 show an increase in complications, with 70 cases related to heart failure and stroke, and 17 cases involving kidney damage and vision loss. Method: This study aims to identify the factors associated with the increased incidence of complications in hypertensive patients at Sejiran Setason Regional Public Hospital, West Bangka, in 2025. This research employs a quantitative method with a correlational analytic design and a cross-sectional approach, where independent and dependent variables are measured at a single point in time. Result: The results indicate a significant relationship between age, physical activity, and smoking habits with the occurrence of complications in hypertensive patients. Older individuals have a higher risk of hypertension-related complications. Additionally, a lack of physical activity and smoking habits further increase this risk. Conclusion: Based on these findings, preventive efforts are recommended through health lifestyle education and regular screening for high-risk groups. Further research is needed to evaluate the long-term effects of these factors on the progression of hypertension complications.

Objective: Nurses' performance is one of the key indicators in determining the quality of health services in hospitals. Optimal performance is influenced by several factors, including leadership style, work motivation, and work environment. This study aims to determine the relationship between leadership style, work motivation, and work environment with nurses’ performance at Mitra Medika General Hospital Pangkalpinang in 2025. Method: This research used an analytical quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 50 respondents selected using total sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire, and data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Result: The results of the study indicate that there is no significant relationship between leadership style, work motivation, and work environment with nurses' performance at Mitra Medika General Hospital Pangkalpinang in 2025. The significance values for each variable are p = 0.603 for both leadership style, p = 0,323 for work motivation, and p = 0.953 for work environment, all of which exceed the 0.05 threshold. The conclusion of this study is that leadership style, work motivation, and work environment do not have a significant relationship with nurses' performance. Conclusion: The results of this study are expected to serve as a consideration for future researchers to develop further studies with broader variables and a qualitative approach, for educational institutions to utilize the findings as applied learning material, and for healthcare institutions to pay attention to leadership style, work motivation, and work environment in order to support the improvement of nurses' performance.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major public health problem in Indonesia, with stress being a significant contributing factor. Respondent characteristics such as age, gender, occupation, and education level have the potential to influence the relationship between stress and the incidence of hypertension, particularly in rural areas such as the Petaling Community Health Center in Bangka Regency. To analyze the relationship between respondent characteristics and stress levels on the incidence of hypertension in the working area of the Petaling Community Health Center, Bangka Regency in 2025. This study used a cross-sectional design conducted at the Petaling Community Health Center in Bangka Regency from October 2025 to November 2025. A total of 73 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The inclusion criteria for respondents were aged 26-65 years and above, having hypertension, being a community member who sought treatment at the health center, and living in the working area of the Petaling Health Center, Bangka Regency. The instrument used was DASS. The analysis used in this study was the chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. Stress levels (p-value = 0.004) had a significant relationship with the incidence of hypertension. However, age (p-value = 0.331), gender (p-value = 0.246), education level (p-value = 0.570), and occupation (p-value = 0.926) were not significantly related to the incidence of hypertension. Conclusion: Of the five variables studied, there was one variable that was related, namely stress levels. The community has become more aware of the importance of health and conducts regular health checks to control high blood pressure. Keywords: Hypertension, Stress Level, Gender, Education, Occupation

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition in which systolic blood pressure rises to ? 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure rises to ? 90 mmHg, as determined by at least two measurements taken five minutes apart while at rest. This study aims to analyze the relationship between sleep quality and anxiety in hypertensive patients at the Gerunggang Community Health Center in 2025. This study used a quantitative method with a correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of all hypertensive patients who visited and sought treatment at the Gerunggang Community Health Center in Pangkalpinang in July 2025, totaling 260 people, with a sample of 80 respondents selected using random sampling techniques. The research instruments were a sleep quality questionnaire (PSQI) and a GAD7 anxiety questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test and the Pearson correlation test. The results showed a significant correlation between sleep quality and the incidence of hypertension with a p-value of 0.000. In addition, there was a significant correlation between anxiety and the incidence of hypertension with a p-value of 0.031. The direction of the correlation indicates that the poorer the sleep quality, the higher the anxiety level tends to be. The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant correlation between sleep quality and anxiety in hypertensive patients at the Gerunggang Community Health Center in 2025. It is hoped that health workers can improve education about healthy sleep patterns and anxiety management as part of efforts to control hypertension in primary health care services.
