Abstract

Simpang Martoloyo has a high traffic flow because it is the meeting point of arterial roads that include residential areas, school areas, and offices, as well as business locations, namely Pasar Anyar Martoloyo. This condition resulted in congestion and long delays. This study aims to analyze the performance of signalized intersections at Simpang Martoloyo, provide recommendations, and model traffic engineering using VISSIM software. The calculation method used is Pedoman Kapasitas Jalan Indonesia (PKJI) 2023. Based on the results of the analysis of existing conditions, Simpang Martoloyo has a service level of F with an average delay of 105.96 seconds/junior high school. The improvement of the performance of Simpang Martoloyo is carried out through several traffic engineering in the form of widening the approach to the intersection, changing the cycle time, and redesigning the number of phases. The alternative handling is selected based on the most optimal improvement in intersection performance. The redesign of the cycle time to 104 seconds with a green time of 10 seconds for each phase shows the results based on PKJI calculations that this alternative can improve intersection performance by reducing the average delay to 86.07 seconds/smp, and then based on Vissim modeling, it can reduce the average delay to 41.71 seconds. The time change between the greens is considered to be able to empty the last vehicle at the point of conflict of each last phase signal.

Abstract

The analysis results show that several road curves still fail to meet the required safety standards. Field measurements indicate that only ten curves satisfy the stopping sight distance (SSD) criteria, while twenty-four curves experience SSD deficiencies, with the largest shortfall occurring at STA 13+800 northbound. Lateral clearance evaluation also shows limited compliance, with only five curves meeting the standard and twelve curves identified as having significant shortages most notably at STA 13+900. Several locations are categorized as hazard points because they exhibit deficiencies in both SSD and lateral clearance. Overall, inadequate lateral clearance is found to directly reduce available sight distance due to visual obstructions near the travel lane, indicating that geometric improvements are necessary to enhance safety along the PemalangRandudongkal corridor.

Abstract

Road infrastructure is a vital component supporting economic and social development, yet pavement deterioration remains a significant challenge requiring systematic and accurate evaluation methods. This research evaluates the pavement condition of Pala Raya 27 Road in Tegal City by comparing three assessment methods: Surface Distress Index (SDI), Pavement Condition Index (PCI), and Bina Marga method. The study was conducted on a 1,500-meter local road section divided into nine 100-meter segments. Data collection involved visual inspection and measurement of pavement distresses including cracking, potholes, and rutting. Research findings indicate that the SDI method yielded an average value of 35.8 (Good condition) with two segments classified as lightly damaged. The PCI method produced an average value of 71.9 (Very Good condition) with 66.7% of segments in very good to good condition and 22.2% in fair condition. The Bina Marga method resulted in an average Road Condition Value (RCV) of 0.76 (Very Good condition) with 77.8% of segments in excellent condition. Notably, all three methods consistently identified segments 0+500-0+700 as critical areas requiring maintenance priority, despite differences in severity classification. The SDI method demonstrated highest sensitivity to pothole distress, while PCI provided more balanced assessment considering both severity and density. The Bina Marga method offered moderate evaluation adapted to local Indonesian conditions. This comparative analysis validates the consistency of the three methods while revealing their distinct characteristics and provides valuable guidance for pavement management decision-making. The research recommends that local residential roads like Pala Raya 27 utilize the Bina Marga or SDI methods due to their practical and economical procedures, while arteries or collector roads benefit from the more comprehensive PCI method. Immediate maintenance is recommended for critical segments to prevent further deterioration

Abstract

Jalan Kaligawe Raya di Kota Semarang merupakan salah satu jalur strategis yang memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan konektivitas antarwilayah serta mendukung mobilitas masyarakat dan distribusi barang. Namun, kondisi fisik ruas jalan ini menunjukkan berbagai bentuk kerusakan yang cukup signifikan, sehingga dikhawatirkan dapat menghambat kelancaran arus transportasi dan menurunkan tingkat kenyamanan pengguna jalan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi kondisi permukaan Jalan Kaligawe Raya dengan mengintegrasikan Metode Bina Marga dan Metode Pavement Condition Index (PCI). Metode Bina Marga digunakan untuk melakukan penilaian visual berdasarkan jenis, tingkat, dan penyebaran kerusakan, seperti retak, lubang, dan penurunan permukaan. Sementara itu, Metode PCI memberikan penilaian kuantitatif yang lebih terukur melalui penghitungan skor kondisi pada tiap segmen jalan, sehingga mampu menggambarkan tingkat kelayakan struktural secara lebih detail. Hasil survei lapangan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian segmen jalan berada pada kategori rusak sedang hingga rusak berat, dengan kerusakan yang tersebar secara tidak merata pada beberapa titik kritis. Temuan ini mengindikasikan perlunya upaya pemeliharaan rutin untuk mengatasi kerusakan ringan serta pemeliharaan berkala atau rehabilitasi pada segmen yang mengalami kerusakan lebih parah. Kombinasi kedua metode analisis memberikan gambaran komprehensif mengenai tingkat kerusakan dan kebutuhan penanganan. Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi dasar dalam menentukan prioritas perbaikan serta membantu pemerintah daerah dalam perencanaan program pemeliharaan guna menjaga kualitas, keamanan, dan fungsi Jalan Kaligawe Raya secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Jalan Moga - Guci merupakan akses penting menuju destinasi wisata di Kabupaten Tegal, namun karena kondisi geometrik jalan yang sulit dan minimnya sarana dan prasarana keselamatan, maka jalan tersebut menjadi rawan terjadinya kecelakaan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menemukan kemungkinan risiko berdasarkan penerapan konsep Self-Explaining Road (SER) dan Forgiving Road (FR), dengan metode Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA). Pelaksanaan penelitian ini melalui observasi lapangan sepanjang 3,016 km dan menganalisis 12 titik defisiensi jalan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa 66% dari potensi bahaya berada dalam kategori risiko moderate, 17% high, dan 17% low. Mayoritas bahaya memiliki tingkat kemungkinan kejadian unlikely namun berdampak moderate hingga major jika terjadi kecelakaan. Temuan risiko tertinggi berada di titik STA 1+800 dan 2+400 akibat kombinasi kerusakan perkerasan dan visibilitas rendah. Studi ini membuktikan bahwa penerapan prinsip Self-Explaining Road (SER) dan Forgiving Road (FR) dalam desain jalan dapat membantu meminimalisir risiko kecelakaan. Diperlukan intervensi berbasis rekayasa lalu lintas untuk meningkatkan keselamatan di koridor pada jalur tersebut.

Abstract

Roads have a crucial role in supporting mobility movement and allocation of goods and services, significantly impacting economic, social, and cultural growth. Damaged road conditions can impade activities and increase the risk of accidents. Road safety is influenced by various factors, including the road itself. Kapten Piere Tendean Street, part of the North Ring Road, is one of the vital routes is currently experiencing various types of damage, partly due to the increasing traffic volume. This papper aims to evaluate the surface condition of Kapten Piere Tendean street using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method for identify categories and levels of road damage as a basis for repair recommendations. The identification results show 13 types of damage, with the highest being shoving at 36%. At STA 0+00 – 0+100, the PCI score is 7, categorized as failed, while at STA 1+300 – 1+400, the PCI score is 92, categorized as excellent, with 32% of segments classified as very good. The average PCI score for the 2.9 km road length is 61, indicating the road is in good condition. The repair recommendations refer to Bina Marga guidelines, addressing the largest damage (shoving) with pothole patching (P5) and leveling (P6).

Abstract

Ahmad Yani Road stood as a vital artery in Tegal City, bridging the gap between urban centers and local tourism landmarks. While its administrative label defined it as an urban road, the street’s physical evolution told a different story one centered on pedestrians and tourism. Rather than accepting the status quo, this study examined the functional disconnect of Ahmad Yani Road by integrating three distinct approaches: geometric audits, traffic flow metrics, and road safety inspections (RSI). The fieldwork was conducted using a descriptive comparative framework, with data collection covering physical lane measurements, visual documentation, and traffic counts. These data were evaluated against a combination of Bina Marga’s local regulations and international benchmarks for walkable tourism streets. The findings revealed a substantial performance gap. The corridor failed to adequately fulfill its function as an urban road, meeting only 57.14% of the requirements due to narrow lanes and insufficient safety infrastructure. However, when assessed as a tourism corridor, the results were markedly different, with the road achieving 90% compliance, supported by its active frontage and pedestrian-oriented design. Although traffic flow remained relatively stable (DS = 0.66, LOS C), an underlying vulnerability persisted. The corridor operated near a critical threshold, where sudden increases in tourist activity or roadside disturbances could have disrupted traffic movement. Ultimately, Ahmad Yani Road had evolved beyond its original administrative classification, and the findings supported the need for a policy shift toward adaptive management to safeguard its emerging role as a vibrant public space.

Abstract

Urban road networks face increasing challenges due to rapid vehicle growth and the complexity of traffic dynamics, especially in medium-sized cities such as Tegal, Indonesia. Jalan Kartini is a vital road segment with high economic and pedestrian activity that often experiences congestion and irregular traffic flow. To address these issues, this study aims to evaluate the traffic performance of Jalan Kartini and to assess the suitability of existing road signs and markings for supporting the implementation of a one-way traffic system on this corridor. A descriptive evaluative method was employed, using field surveys and traffic observations, including traffic volume, vehicle speed, degree of saturation, and road capacity results, as well as the condition of road signs and markings. Results showed that the highest traffic volume is 609 PCU/h, with the score of road capacity is 1288.87 PCU/h and score of degree saturation is 0.37 which is indicating a good service level. The 85th percentile speed was recorded at 49 km/h, which is close to the upper limit of the design speed range for secondary collector roads (30–50 km/h) and exceeds the posted speed limit of 30 km/h on Jalan Kartini. However, significant issues were identified in the physical condition and visibility of traffic signs and road markings, many of which were faded, improperly placed, or did not meet regulatory dimensions. The study concludes that although the traffic performance supports a one-way system, the current infrastructure, including signage and markings must be revitalized to ensure effectiveness and safety. This research contributes to urban traffic management practices by highlighting the critical role of visual infrastructure in supporting directional traffic policy implementation.

Abstract

Jarak Pandang Henti (JPH) merupakan elemen penting dalam keselamatan berkendara, terutama pada ruas jalan dengan tikungan beruntun yang berpotensi membatasi visibilitas pengemudi. Jalan Lingkar Utara (Jalingkut) Kota Tegal memiliki karakteristik geometrik yang bervariasi, termasuk tikungan yang diduga tidak memenuhi standar desain Bina Marga sehingga meningkatkan risiko kecelakaan, khususnya pada kendaraan berat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi kecukupan JPH pada dua tikungan Jalingkut dengan membandingkan JPH eksisting hasil pengukuran lapangan dan JPH berdasarkan kecepatan aktual terhadap nilai minimum standar Bina Marga. Data geometrik dikumpulkan menggunakan RTK GNSS berbasis NTRIP untuk memperoleh koordinat presisi tinggi, sedangkan data kecepatan diperoleh melalui survei traffic counting. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Tikungan 1 mengalami defisiensi JPH dengan JPH eksisting sebesar 91,71 m dan JPH berdasarkan kecepatan aktual hanya 48,24 m, keduanya berada di bawah standar 104,31 m. Sebaliknya, Tikungan 2 memiliki JPH eksisting 121,01 m yang memenuhi standar, meskipun nilai JPH berdasarkan kecepatan aktual tetap lebih rendah. Temuan ini menegaskan adanya kebutuhan penanganan keselamatan pada Tikungan 1 melalui pengendalian vegetasi, perbaikan geometri, atau rekayasa lalu lintas guna meningkatkan visibilitas dan keselamatan berkendara pada ruas Jalan Lingkar Utara Kota Tegal.

Abstract

Kecelakaan lalu lintas masih menjadi salah satu masalah utama di Kota Semarang, terutama di kawasan dengan lalu lintas padat dan kondisi jalan yang beragam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi lokasi rawan kecelakaan (blackspot) pada Ruas Jalan Kaligawe sebagai upaya meningkatkan keselamatan pengguna jalan. Data kecelakaan tahun 2024–2025 diperoleh dari Polda Jawa Tengah dan dianalisis menggunakan metode Equivalent Accident Number (EAN) yang dikombinasikan dengan Upper Control Limit (UCL). Ruas jalan sepanjang 5 km dibagi menjadi segmen per 100 meter untuk melihat tingkat risiko pada setiap bagian jalan berdasarkan jumlah dan tingkat keparahan kecelakaan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tiga segmen yang tergolong sebagai lokasi rawan kecelakaan, yaitu pada stasioning 1±400, 2±400, dan 3±600. Segmen paling berisiko berada pada stasioning 2±400 karena memiliki nilai EAN dan UCL tertinggi. Mayoritas kecelakaan berupa luka ringan dan kerusakan kendaraan, namun kejadian luka berat juga memberi pengaruh besar terhadap tingkat risiko. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar bagi pihak terkait dalam menentukan prioritas penanganan keselamatan lalu lintas secara lebih tepat dan berbasis data.
