Abstract

This study aims to determine the meaning of " Al-Fitnah " in the Qur'an based on a review of semantics and Arabic. The type of research used is library research with a descriptive approach. The scope of this research is in the form of 1) semantic concepts in the Qur'an. 2) the mention of the word "Al-Fitnah" in the Qur'an. 3) the meanings contained in the word "Al-Fitnah" in every mention in the Qur'an. Data collection is carried out by library analysis in the form of books, scientific research results, news, and others. The data results are then analyzed to be reduced and presented in words based on the findings in the library. From research, it was obtained that the majority of the thirty words "Al-Fitnah" contained in the Qur'an have different meanings. This is based on the context of the verse in which the word is mentioned, the form of the word, and the Asbab Al-Nuzul of the verses in which the word is mentioned. All this can be evidenced by the emergence of different interpretations of the word "Al-Fitnah" in the Qur'an and the widespread study of the words of the Qur'an in each era.

Abstract

Arabic is one of the important languages learned for spiritual, educational, and communicative purposes. One of the main challenges in learning Arabic is mastering the vocabulary, which is the foundation for understanding and using the language. This study aims to explore the implementation of the al-iktisyaf book memorization method to improve vocabulary mastery among students at nurur rohman islamic boarding school. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with primary data obtained through observation, interviews with teachers, students, and Islamic boarding school administrators, as well as secondary data from books, journals, and related documentation. The results of the study indicate that the Al-Iktisyaf Book memorization method, which includes the technique of memorizing nash, nadhom, and the rules of nahwu sharraf, significantly improves the mastery of the students' vocabulary. The memorization process is carried out with flexible time, where students submit their memorization to the teacher individually. Supporting factors for the success of this method include motivation from the teacher through praise and support, memorization repetition strategies, and routine evaluation. In addition, this method is supported by initial learning using the bandongan method which provides basic understanding to students before they memorize. This study concludes that the application of the Al-Iktisyaf Book memorization method at the Nurur Rohman Jember Islamic Boarding School is effective in enriching vocabulary and improving students' Arabic language skills. This is indicated by the increasing ability of students to remember and use new vocabulary in the context of vocabulary in the context of learning the Al-Iktisyaf book. With this method, students not only expand their vocabulary but also improve their ability to read and understand Arabic texts, which supports holistic mastery of language skills.

Abstract

Effective learning strategies are the key to motivating students in the midst of increasingly complex educational challenges. Without sufficient motivation, students' learning potential is difficult to develop, even though the teaching methods used are very diverse. This study aims to analyze the effect of using the Talking Stick strategy to increase students' learning motivation. This research uses a quantitative approach. This approach is applied to certain samples or populations, whether randomly selected or not, with data collection using instruments and quantitative data analysis. The type of research used is experimental, which aims to determine the effect of an action and test hypotheses regarding the comparison of the effects of these actions. The results of this study indicate that the use of the Talking Stick strategy has a significant effect on increasing student learning motivation, with a significance value of 0.000, which means <0.05, so Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Significant differences can be seen from the comparison of pretest and posttest questionnaire results, where the pretest showed a value of 22.15 (44%, sufficient motivation) and the posttest reached 36.85 (74%, high motivation). This shows an increase in student motivation after being given the treatment, from the moderate category to the high.

Abstract

Speaking in a foreign language is a big challenge for many students, especially when the learning methods used are less interesting and interactive. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Talking Stick strategy on improving students' maharah. The research approach used is Quantitative Research. The type of research is quasi-experiment with pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects of this study were students of class IX 1 as the control class and class IX 2 as the experimental class in a junior high school. The research instruments included oral tests to measure students' maharah kalam. The data obtained were analyzed using statistical tests to determine the difference in learning outcomes between the control class and the experimental class. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the two classes. With the comparison value of the mean results during the pretest and posttest, namely the pretest in the experimental class 63.5 with the criteria of Dhaif and posttest 76.0 with Maqbul criteria, while the pretest in the control class 61.67 with the criteria of Dhaif and posttest 66.67 with Dhaif criteria as well. Students who learned with the Talking Stick strategy experienced a greater improvement in speaking ability compared to students in the control class. Thus, Talking Stick strategy can be used as an effective alternative in Arabic language learning to improve students' speaking skills and learning motivation.

Abstract

The professional development of Arabic language teachers is a strategic priority in Islamic educational institutions to ensure instructional quality and pedagogical relevance. This study investigates the implementation of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) strategies in enhancing teacher competence at Al-Mashduqiah Islamic Boarding School, Probolinggo. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through interviews with caregivers and teachers, classroom observations, and analysis of institutional documents. The findings reveal that Arabic language teachers at the pesantren demonstrate four core competencies pedagogical, professional, personal, and social as mandated by national education standards. CPD at Al-Mashduqiah is systematically implemented through self-development programs, scientific publications, and innovative instructional practices. Supporting factors include a conducive Arabic-speaking environment, regular training sessions, and the integration of Arabic in daily communication. However, challenges such as high teacher workload, limited technological integration, and external teaching assignments persist. This study concludes that the CPD model at Al-Mashduqiah offers a viable and sustainable framework for enhancing Arabic language teacher competence and serves as a reference for similar Islamic educational settings aiming to strengthen professional teaching capacity.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of modern Arabic musical literature on Humood AlKhudher’s song Falasteen Biladi through a semantic analysis. The problem addressed in this research lies in understanding how modern Arabic songs, beyond their aesthetic qualities, serve as vehicles for articulating political, cultural, and social meanings. The song was chosen because its lyrics are deeply symbolic and emotionally charged, reflecting solidarity and pride for the Palestinian homeland while simultaneously engaging with broader socio-political contexts. The purpose of this study is to reveal the semantic strategies employed in Falasteen Biladi and to explain how these strategies contribute to shaping collective identity, resistance, and cultural diplomacy. A qualitative approach was employed, drawing data from the music video, song lyrics, social media discussions, and related articles. Data collection involved close listening, lyric transcription, classification of semantic features based on research questions, and enrichment with contextual information about Palestine’s socio-political situation. The analysis relied on semantic theories developed by Lyons (1995) and Leech (1981), with attention to denotative, connotative, affective, and social meanings. The findings show that Falasteen Biladi systematically constructs semantic meaning through the use of metaphor, symbolism, and deliberate diction. Surprisingly, beneath its patriotic and aesthetic tone lies a highly structured linguistic strategy that elevates the song into a form of cultural resistance against political domination. The study contributes to scholarship by demonstrating how modern Arabic music functions not only as artistic expression but also as a powerful medium of cultural diplomacy in global socio-political discourse.
